Good morning, I want to share my favorite quote with you. When I was a teenager, I had a poster hanging in my bedroom.

“Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.”

Thanks for joining the Spring Festivals Around the World swap!

This is the first day of the Spring (Bengali month Falgun). Celebrated across Bangladesh, there are nu!merous fairs and festivals for this event. Young girls wear basanti (yellow) coloured sarees and decorate their hair with fresh flowers while boys wear pajamas and panjabis in celebration.

Spring wouldn’t be the same in northern India without this annual festival. Celebrated by Hindus, who throw colored powder at each other, this vibrant festival of colors celebrates the season’s many hues, as well as events from Hindu mythology, such as when a devotee of Lord Vishnu was saved from death.

! Widely referred to as the Persian New Year, this annual festival also marks the first day of spring — which is celebrated on the day of the astronomical Northward equinox (usually around March 21). Nowruz is celebrated throughout Central Asia and here, in Kyrgyzstan’s capital city of Bishek.

Spring Festivals Around the World - Profile Deco

Spring Equinox exactly is not celebrated in India, but there are many festivals around spring. This starts with the Capricorn Transmigration of the Sun, here are 3 pics for that : Lohri (Punjab) Thai Pongal (Tamil Nadu) The Ahmedabad kite festival

The real spring festival is the Holi, the festival of colours, which unfortunately always falls in the middle of school exams :D It can get pretty rash & rough in North India, but this pic captures the true spirit, a middle aged couple having fun, complete with the perfect "weapon" – an empty exterior-paints container! The "Basant Utsav" is a kind of artificial festival, at the same time as Holi, started by the great poet Tagore, celebrated mainly in Shantiniketan. It is a music & dance festival. The kids here are wearing "Palaash" flowers in their hair & as garlands.

& Soon, the harvest festivals will start. This is Rongali Bihu, the harvest festival of Asom (Assam) celebrations! :)
