Hi, My name is Jo. I live in Virginia, USA.
I am married to a wonderful German husband for 25 years now. I have 2 teenage daughters. My oldest will be headed off for college next year, and my younger one is developmentally delayed/autistic.
I work as an elementary school teacher for immigrant children. I have a very hectic and filled life, but I wanted to try this out. It sounds like it fits my personality well and I hope it all works out.
Thanks for reading my profile. Happy swapping.
I like all kinds of music. I'm a product of the '70's so I guess, I am comfortable with all of the bands from that era. However, I also have teen daughters who have introduced me to current musicians, so you might find me enjoying the Top Chart music of today too. Generally, I am open to almost anything!
I love reading. If you don't find me at work, at my teen activities or helping my husband with household projects, you will find a book in my hand, sitting curled up next to my cat, reading.
I like all genres. Some of my current favorites are: - The Things They Carried, by Tim O'Brien - The Help, by Kathryn Stockett - Little Bee, by Chris Cleave - When I First Believed, by Wally Lamb
My all-time favorite movie is:
The Frisco Kid - starring Gene Wilder.
I like almost all of Gene Wilder's movies.
I also like "It's a Wonderful Life", "Little Shop of Horrors", "Dancing With Wolves" and another all-time favorite: "My Cousin Vinny"
I like most anything type of movie, except horror films.
I don't watch TV much. Never enough time, and I prefer reading the book first, before going to see the movie.
I am an annoying channel flipper!
I do like to watch documentaries by myself, and I like to watch nonsense shows with my daughters, ......sometimes. I have to be in the right mood for that though.
I am familiar with the teen shows more than the normal adult shows, and I can even contribute to a discussion about Snooki, if need be!
I am starting in on a new phase of my life.... less 'mom' and more 'me'. This includes experimenting with crafts and art more than I am used to doing.
I am a beginner in almost everything, but I think I have a certain knack, perhaps I am a diamond in the rough at this point.
If we exchange 'crafts', or 'art' - please keep in mind my limited experience, but my great desire!
