Hello! I'm a SAHM of two boys and I'm trying to keep sane by doing art....the smaller, the better, so ATCs, little pendants, tiny collage is right up my alley. :) Grinnell College alumna with a Russian degree, ABD in anthropology, English teaching degree...now spending my time playing in the sandbox. A tough transition, but worth it!

Chick lit, mostly. Jennifer Weiner, Emily Giffin, that kind of thing. I used to read more serious stuff, but since my main reading time is currently right before bed, I don't need anything too ponderous or depressing.

Sad to say, I'm a reality TV junkie! Cake Boss, Survivor, Amazing Race, America's Next Top Model, Biggest Loser. It's a sickness, I tell ya!

My first love is photography, but I also like getting dirty and just playing with collage, small art pieces, soldered pendants, mosaic. I've also just started experimenting with needle felting and have been creating a little menagerie.

The color purple. Antique buttons. Anything with the letters M, E, K, N, A, or V. Hummingbirds. Any sad-looking vintage items that look as if they need a good home. Old, loved kids' toys. Old photographs...instant ancestors! Anything vintage with rhinestones. 80s music. Images and photographs of mothers and babies (especially if the babies are boys). Halloween! Old typewriter keys and fonts. Old letters, ledgers, and journals. Things Russian (except for religious symbols) like nesting dolls, socialist-realist art, Russian words, scenery. Kooky monsters, a la the style of Sandra Boynton, Muppets, etc. Think one-eyed-one-horned-flying-purple-people-eater sorts of things. :)

Religious items or symbols. Hello Kitty, Sponge Bob, most character stuff. Princess things/images. Big-eyed dolls and clowns (unless they are MEANT to be creepy!). :) Anything that used to be alive (butterfly wings, dead bugs, fish scales, etc.); dried flowers/plants are fine! Lilies! My cat almost died from eating lilies so they are associated with bad things for me. :( Otherwise, I'm pretty easy-going.
