I live in Alaska and enjoy outdoor activities including hiking, fishing and gardening. I love to read and I try to read 100 new books each year. I have a couple long time penpals and I save postcards for my young son, anticipating how the world might change as he grows.
LGBTQ friendly/safe (straight ally)
In my house: me (30), Hubby (42), Dear Son (2), Yellow Dog (4)
I like:
Labrador retrievers, fish, all kinds of outdoor scenes/scenery, books, humor, bookmarks, fruit teas, pictures of vineyards or farms, cross-stitch, stickers (see dislikes), postcards, notecards, daisies and field flowers, recipes and cooking, doves, celtic knots and Trinity symbols, stationery sheets, doodles, colored pencils, pens, travel stories, classical music, Kawaii (animals, scenery, houses, NO people), Susan Branch, deco tape,
No Disney, religious, cats, perfumes, make-up, smoky items, black tea, reward stickers, black, pirates, cartoon people, Americana (except in postcards)
I
Confederates in the Attic, A Prayer for Owen Meany, It Gets Better, Major Pettigrew's Last Stand, The State Boys' Rebellion, Couldn't Keep It To Myself, True Grit, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Bet Me, Lord of Scoundrels, To Kill a Mockingbird, A Walk in the Woods, In a Sunburned Country
I read historical biographies, memoirs, character-driven fiction, contemporary and historical (Victorian) romance (no series, no military, no cops or firefighters), travel narratives, experience memoirs (experiments, personal research, family histories), humor mysteries (Evanovich, etc)
No murder mysteries (scary), no religious, no crafty how-tos (just makes me feel incompetent). :)
I like Australia, Victorian-themed fiction, Tudor England (fic or non-fic), CIvil War, Theodore Roosevelt, Richard Nixon, women leaders in the world, information (current or historical) about prison systems, developmental disabilities and social institutions
Little Women, A Fish Called Wanda, Toy Story 2, Fried Green Tomatoes, Love Actually, True Grit, Mulan, Mamma Mia!
Frasier, Wings, Big Bang Theory, 30 Rock, All in the Family... I mostly like funny, short and older. We don't have television at home, so I rely on Hulu and Netflix.
I try to send as early as possible because shipping from Alaska takes forever. In 3 years, I've only ever had one Postcrossing postcard get lost, but I have had some that took over 45 days to reach their destination. Once I mail your package, it's out of my hands into the hands of the postal service(s). Please PM before giving a poor rating if you don't receive your item. I'll try again.

I was wondering a lot about Alaska in my childhood, because Northern Exposure was on TV and it used to be my fave. Congratulations on your yearly 100 books!........I think I have to read more :)

Greetings to you from Finland!
First of all, mentioning that you're LGBTQ friendly made me smile, because I'm pansexual, and am always happy to see straight people who support us!
I think I might have to steal your idea of saving postcards for your child, I have a little one as well (16 months old). :)
Happy swapping~
