Reading log

Favorite Books

I read everything that has words, including cereal boxes and tax form instructions, but I have a strong preference for anything steampunk, science fiction and fantasy with a unique twist. My current favorite authors are Gail Carriger, China Mieville and John Crowley.

Oh, and Charles Dickens and Jane Austen. I'm catching up on my classics.

Favorite Music

Jane Siberry/Issa, Rani Arbo and Daisy Mayhem, Ditty Bops, Puppini Sisters.

Favorite Crafts

Knitting/crochet, Sewing

I currently have plenty of acrylic yarn for my charity knitting. Thank you.

Favorite Television

Warehouse 13, Doctor Who (old and new), Eureka, and inexplicably, Say Yes to the Dress.

Misc

My husband and I like to work jigsaw puzzles together. I'm always looking to swap puzzles.

I am also rehabbing a broken down vintage Lundby dollhouse. It is 3/4 scale or about 1:18 scale, much smaller than usual dollhouse scale. I'm having such fun, getting to work with my hands and also going shopping for it.

general info

My favorite color is yes! Seriously, I like all colors, the brighter the better, no pastels, black or beige for me.

I'd rather get something handmade or from the thrift store any day over something new. I like getting weird oddments and miscellaneous bits. Anything fun and strange.

Likes

Japanese lucky cats (maneki neko)

Dislikes

Please don't send anything scented. I have allergies. Candles, soaps, sachets, potpourri, lotions, perfumes, shower gels, etc. If it's designed to smell pretty, it will probably make me sick.

Ditto on food/drink/candy. I've got allergies to various things. Easier to avoid it all rather than try and explain it.

The rest of this is just preferences rather than life/health issues

Scrapbooking supplies (paper, die cuts, etc)

Stamps and ink pads

Stickers

Anything made of leather, fur or feathers

Beads or jewelry supplies

Novelty or fun fur yarn- any other kind is okay

fabric/fat quarters/charm squares

Comment: Wow, thank you so much! You are awesome! You thought of so many goodies for me right down to the hankies and the eyeglass cases. I was going to make wristers for myself (imagine knitting for yourself - shocking) and this yarn is so perfect for them. I knit late at night and my hands get cold - not after this week!

Comment: Don't be concerned that the cowl won't be used! I love the colors (Autumn is my favorite palette) so I am considering hemming the bottom and adding a strap to make it a tote bag, or I may take it to our Vermont cabin and save it for chilly days (so far the tote bag idea is winning because I don't have to wait).
Response: Suggest you line for strength if making into a tote. Also, then tiny items won't fall out of it. Sometimes they work their way out of the knit. Anyway, enjoy, whatever you do with it.
