I like to read, art and craft, and homeschool my four children. (Well, now it's only 3--one has graduated, and is in college.)
I started swapping several years ago--before there were "hearts and stars"--and even though I don't swap year round, it's always a fun time when I get the chance!
I always, always, always send. If it looks like I maybe forgot to rate you, I won't be offended if you remind me! :)
classical, bluegrass, Pink Floyd, all that 80's alternative--I like to be able to understand the lyrics as they're sung--Third Day, Jars of Clay, Neon Horse . . .
(in no particular order) old musicals, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Galaxy Quest, The Princess Bride, Napoleon Dynamite, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (old and new) . . . the old Alastair Sim Scrooge is my absolute all time favorite Christmas movie!
collage/mixed media, painting, drawing, scrapbooking, textile arts, beading, quilting, candle and soap making, needle felting/felting
It was suggested to include a list of stuff we like--I love to get regional ephemera, so if you're not from the USA, please send me a page from your newspaper, clean candy wrappers, labels from items in your home, whatever! Things not in English, or things we just don't have in the USA.
I also love fabric, glass/ceramic and polymer clay beads, jewelry (I have pierced ears and wear lots of dangly earrings), soaps, purses/bags with handles, wristlet bags, candles, homemade items, paints, crayons (I LOVE CRAYONS!)--I'm really not that particular, now that I actually think about it. Send me something neat you knitted or crocheted and I'll smile for a month (unless maybe it's one of those toilet paper covers!)
Alice in Wonderland, The Excellent Wife by Martha Peace, Gilead, the Jane Austens, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Mitford series was charming, The Cat Who series (some weren't so grand, but a quick, fun read), The Number 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series was excellent . . . finished the Coffee House series this summer, and had to buy an espresso machine!
Normal coffees and hot teas--NOT flavored--are a big yes, dark chocolate, Pop Rocks, Shock Tarts (now they call them "Shockers").
Big NO thanks: coffee flavored candies, artificial orange flavors, or black licorice.
The only thing I can think of as a no as far as colors are concerned are neon-type, outrageously bright colors. Eeeeeew. Sorry. And not so much into cartoon characters or Kawaii.
Scents--please no vanilla, chocolate, coconut, or blueberry scents. (I'm more than happy to EAT all of the above, but the artificial scent of them just doesn't work for me!)
Really really really like: the metallic Crayola crayon set they had out a few years ago, the one with all the metallics besides the usual gold, silver, copper.
What do YOU like?? :)
