I live on the north Oregon Coast with my father. He's in his late 80's, and while he is still very capable of many things I help out with the cooking and whatever else. I don't work outside the home so I have plenty of time to create beadwork and textile pieces.
I'm a big fan of SciFi/Fantasy. Favorite authors include Mercedes Lackey, Anne McCafferry, Katherine Kurtz, and many more.
And then on the non-fiction side-- anything having to do with beading or crazy quilt, embellishment, ethnic embroidery or clothing design/construction.
Eclectic mix---romantic comedies, scifi/fantasy, action/adventure such as- Bed of Roses, Serenity, Must Love Dogs, Chronicles of Riddick, anything with Johnny Dep in it...
Beadwork is my passion, and embellished crazy quilting is second on my list of fun things. I have mastered a variety of off-loom beadweaving stitches. I like to make bracelets mostly when making jewelry. I also like making beaded objects. And I'm currently working my way through a series of embellished, bead covered bottles. I also quilt, crochet, embroider, paint and sew. Recently I've been swapping little quilties and some little pouches and coin purses. I really enjoy using these small projects to try out new techniques, design experiments, etc.
Current favorites include Fringe, Haven, Covert Affairs, Sanctuary, White Collar, Warehouse 13...
I have a big grey cat that I call Baboo, I garden, and I love to cook for people who like to eat.Well, I guess that's all for now. Let the swapping begin!
COLORS--blues and greens, think sea and sky. BEADS-almost anything, especially faceted glass, silver colored metal, pearls and shell. BUTTONS- MOP, vintage brass, glass of any vintage, stone, beaded. FIBERS-pearl cottons and floss weight threads, tiny organza and silk ribbons, variagated crochet weight cottons and silks. FABRICS-batik, ikat, jacquard, silks, velvets, embroidered fabrics. Other things-vintage hankies, little bottles that would look good covered in beads, dark, dark, dark chocolate, spice blends for curries. Fragrances-musky, woodsy, vanilla, "clean linens"
Plastic beads and buttons, most polyester fabrics(...although I do like ultrasuede) ;-> syrupy sweet or religious sentiments. Hmmm, looks like I like more than I dislike. Well, that's as it should be.
