Hi, my name is Wendy and I am a 28 years old PhD student in philosophy. Travelling, books, cooking and crocheting are what I like to do in my freetime. Alice in Wonderland is my favorite story. China might be my favorite country to travel to.
I am really happy to have found a platform that facilitates the great joy of sending and receiving snail mail! I love every aspect of it. I love preparing beautiful packages, I love the short walk to the letter box, I love the sound of a stuffed envelope on the door mat and I just love the way the front door won't open properly because of all the mail lying on the mat! To me, swapping is a truly cozy and comforting activity.
Me and my boyfriend live in a city center appartment in Holland. For work I do research in medical ethics. Besides that there is a lot that fascinates me. Traveling is what I like to do most, whenever I have the chance. I love meeting people from other cultures, hearing and telling stories, discovering foreign landscapes, foreign bio diversity and foreign lifestyles. Asia is my favorite continent for traveling, and China probably my favorite country. Also I really enjoyed traveling in Taiwan (Taiwanese food is the best!), Cambodia and Vietnam.
I love reading books and magazines. I collect Alice in Wonderland books since about fifteen years. My collection grows bigger and bigger. Lewis Carroll was a fascinating man, I love the way he plays with language and logic. The nonsensical style in his work is funny and smart.
I like to read magazines about interior design and about food. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. I just love food, all kinds of food and I love to explore new flavors and combinations. I am very interested in swapping food and recipes. Everything from other countries is more then welcome! For example local spices, cookies or candy and anything else that can reasonably be sent. I have no allergies whatsoever. Oh, and I love tea and chocolate, but who doesn't?
My other hobby is crocheting, I do it every day! Therefore I am very interested in yarn of all kinds. All colors are welcome. I am especially interested in traditional supplies from all over the world, like yarn from llama/alpaca/camel etc and ribbons with traditional patterns/designs.
I also have a fascination for history, I am nostalgic person. I like very old interesting black and white (or sepia) photo's and postcards. Basically anything that has a vintage feel to it.
Alice in Wonderland has always been my favorite story, ever since I was very little. I read a lot of philosophical books for work. In my free time I like to read about history, language and biodiversity.
Crocheting. I do it almost every day! I make amigurumi, scarfs, pillows, doilies, blankets and many other things. I work with all kinds of yarn, wool, cotton, acrylic, camel, llama, bamboo,.. from the thinnest of thread to the chunkiest t-shirt yarn.. well, everything I get my hands on.
I have been trying paper crafts but I don't do it a lot anymore. I have probably more supplies than I will ever use, so please don't send me anymore paper craft supplies.
My interior is modern, combined with handmade and vintage items. I like warm and soft materials, like wool, fabric and wood. I do not like glass and metal.
When it comes to accessories and crafts I like vintage stuff. Especially fin de siecle, art nouveau and art deco styles, Victorian, Old Paris, Steampunk, Shabby Chic... those things, nostalgic stuff, I like it a lot! I love the twenties too, charleston style dresses, hairstyles, shoes and such.
Wishlist:
Washi tape! Just discovered its many possibilities and love it!
Maple syrup candy!! If you send me this I will be grateful forever! In fact, anything maple flavored is more than welcome!
6" or 15 cm granny square made by you! Any color, any pattern. Preferably made of cotton yarn.
Local spices/spice mixes
Crochet needles/hooks sizes 7mm, 8mm and 9mm (european sizes).
All food. Yes, I am a real foodie and you can never go wrong with sending me foods (except for coconut flavored stuff). If you manage to send me something I have never seen or tasted before, you make me happier than ever!
Wool felt
I'd love to receive your handmade items, and see the crafts you are especially good at. I consider it a great honor to receive handmade things that are made with love.
Glassine bags/envelopes
Traditional handicraft from your country or region.
Mail art!!
Colors:
Pastel colors like mint, peach, cream and mocha. Besides that mustard, teal and petrol.
Tea:
I drink a lot of jasmine tea, I love that! I also like black tea with sweet flavors like vanilla, caramel, honey, etc.. But please don't stick to these, I love other teas too, but these are just to give you an idea what I like best. I am not very fond of rooibos tea and of chai spiced tea (and other spicy teas).
And besides this wishlist, things that make me happy are:
Scandinavian design - Vintage - Yarn - Linen - The Twenties - Bakers twine - Old photographs and postcards (especially black and white) - Art Nouveau - Art Deco - Alice in Wonderland - Lewis Carroll - Traveling - China - Taiwan - Food - Cooking - Spices (would love to try everything from all over the world) - Chocolate (in every flavor and shape) - Cookies - Candy - Handmade items - Hamsters - Moose - Owls - Reindeer - Vintage tins - well... there is probably much more, but most of all I love surprises, so please do not stick to this list!
In general I don't wear any jewelry, so it's probably better to send jewelry to someone who loves it.
ATC's (I don't collect them) - Souvenirs like keychains and magnets etc (unless I am in a souvenir swap, but even then I prefer local foods and local handicrafts over the standard souvenirs) Religious items - Coconut!!!! (please don't send me coconut products or recipes etc) - Paper craft supplies - Kawaii - Disney - Chai spiced tea - Artificially flavored tea - Obscure, dark, magic stuff - Cosmetics - Comics/Cartoons - Gothic - Animal prints - Cute stickers - Small pictures cut out of magazines etc (I have enough) - Glitter - Furry stuff - Neon colors - Zentangled stuff - Sloppy swaps made without effort and love.
I have a small home, and only little space for storing craft supplies. I am much more happy with for example one special little bead, than with 50 regular beads. Thanks!
My goal is to make my swapping partners happy. I will send my swaps in time and will always rate what I receive. If anything goes wrong, please contact me, I will be happy to make things right.
I love private swaps, contact me if you are interested.
Everything you'll receive from me comes from a smoke free home. I do have a pet, but it is a dwarf hamster and it lives in a cage. It won't interfere with my swaps. :-)
Happy swapping to all!
