Hey guys, I'm Bea.
I am a 21 year old Graphic Design major, with a lot of pent up creativity aching to get out.
I work full time at a Made-In-Oklahoma shop in the heart of Oklahoma City. A friend of my referred me to the site.
I love learning about where others call home, and I have always loved traveling and meeting new people. This is a way for me to do it vicariously through snail mail!
Vintage, retro and antique style is my thing. There is just something about the quality and style of things past that draw me in.
Working and going to school full time is awesomely hectic, and is especially inconvenient when it comes to things like postal hours. If I am mailing off anything more than a flat letter, it won't be until the Saturday after partners are assigned that it'll be sent off. I know you are all individually busy as well, and can understand the delay.
I can't wait to hear from you, and send you bits and pieces of my life.

I dig:
Handmade
Unique
Retro
Vintage
Found objects
Altered books
Earth tones (browns, greens, reds and yellows)
Fonts and typography
Leaves
Paisley
Trees
Henna
Feathers
Owls
Scissortail Flycatchers
Peacocks
Cute shrooms
Oceans
Sugar skulls
Dia De Los Muertos
Mosaic tiles and pieces
Craft supplies
Hot chocolate
Art reproductions (sans impressionism and abstract)
Not so hot on:
Glitter
Animal prints
Glittered animal prints
Hello Kitty-esque cartoons
Religious items
Coffee
Christmas themes (it's unfortunate, I know)
Over all though, I will be nothing but thankful and humbled by the time and effort you put into a swap, and can appreciate any items I receive.

I jam to music with soul, style, and a conscious.
Reggae, ska, big band, soul and folk are my favorites. I am always looking to be introduced to new bands, regardless of genre.

I am unfortunately ill-equipped as far as actual talents go, and couldn't knit or crochet to save my life. I like handmade fuzzy things that can be put to use, like gloves, mittens, etc. I doubt I'll join any swaps where I'd receive such things though as I wouldn't be able to provide anything for my partner in return.
If you're looking for hints on what to send: I am a huge fan of altering things. I'll alter anything, especially books. I am always looking for any sort of imagery (magazine cut outs, scenic photos, etc), found objects, paper scraps, etc. to add into my little altered creations.

oh hi friend :)
That story really made me laugh! I understand the stereotype thing - I'm from rural Pennsylvania. When I first moved to Charleston, I had several people literally ask me if I was Amish. I just didn't even know what to say...there are no Amish people really in SC, so they didn't know any better. :)
We seem to share a lot of interests. Mind if I add you as a friend and then maybe sometime in the future we can do a private swap or something?
Nicely filled-out profile, Bea! Welcome to Swap-bot and the 11-10-09 Postcard Swap-International swap!
