Lately in my life...

Swap-Botting since August 2007
God is good!
I have started a temporary contract position which I'm hoping will turn into a permanent job. (but it may not) If it does, it will be like all my prayers are answered. If not, I'm very thankful for the opportunity nonetheless. As always, I appreciate the patience of my two swap partners who are still waiting for their swaps. I will not flake on the matchbox tower or zentangle matchbox!

I reuse packaging.
If you are stressing about getting my swap to me on time, please don't. Shoot me a PM and let me know... I will completely understand and won't hold it against you!

That doesn't mean it's OK to flake, just that I'm understanding. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RATE YOUR SWAPPER!!!!

Also, please note that I generally do not mark the outside of my package with what's inside (though there are sometimes clues) to prevent theft. You will have some sort of communication of what swap and who I am, though.

Favorite Music

I mostly like mellow "coffee house" type music. John Mayer, Ben Taylor, Barenaked Ladies, stuff like that. Sting is my absolute favorite musician. I pretty much just put the satellite to Coffee House or the Grateful Dead Channel on Sirius and stay there.
Anyway, not a big musicphile. That would be my husband.

About Me

I'm very very easy to please and I'll be thrilled with anything. I really mean that. If you are going to be late or having difficulties, please let me know and all will be well.
I'm just a normal gal with a husband, a gorgeous 7-year-old daughter, three crazy felines, a 3 lb chihuahua and 2 guinea pigs. (if anyone wants a guinea pig, please let me know. I gotta get rid of them)
My favorite color is green, and I like muted, natural, warm tones.
I like Amigurumi, kawaii, Chococat and anything artsy with cats on it.
I'm a Girl Scout leader and trainer when I'm not crafting or taking care of my family. I have a 3 year old long haired chihuahua named Maggie who loves to snuggle. She's happy as long as she's in my lap. I rescued her from a Breeder who was in over his head.
I have 2 year old cat named Yuuki (from Myazaki's Cat Returns movie) who we also call Curious George from time to time because she's such a little rascal. She's black and white American Shorthair and very sweet. She talks a lot, too.
Angel is the oldest and also very sweet when she's not peeing on stuff. ARRRRG!!! She's Three and we'll see if she makes it to Four.
Finally there's NeeChee, the baby. We found him in the woods where he'd been left for the hawks to eat. He was skin and bones but has blossomed under our care into a gorgeous young man with a shiny coat and big bright eyes. He's very sweet and affectionate, loves to snuggle and purrs very very loudly.

Favorite Crafts

CROCHET!!! I live to crochet and lately I'm making a lot of amigurumi. I have made a lot of doilies and my favorite doily designer is Patricia Kristofferson. My husband thinks I'm nuts because I make doilies then give them away, but what am I supposed to do with them?
I know how to even count peyote stitch but would like to learn the other methods of beading, sadly this will cut into my crocheting time...
I've been crafting my whole life and work on things from paper crafts to beaded jewelry. I try to do recycled things or found art.
Anyway, I can't draw, but lately I've discovered zentangles and I'm hooked! You don't have to be able to draw to do them and I just love the zen nature of it.

My Daughter Noodle

Big points to anyone sending me Pink Flamingo stuff... it's my daughter's favorite! She has also recently discovered Pocky and loves it! (since she's ALWAYS hungry please send more!!! I can't feed her fast enough!)
My daughter is 7 years old and ALL GIRL. She's incredibly sweet and kind and all around good kid. She's very honest and thoughtful.
She's just the most incredible little person I know (and I know a lot of little people). I know, I know, I'm her mother I'm supposed to gush about her, but I'm telling you that the kid is incredibly special. She's the best.
She loves bright colors, Hannah Montana, Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Her recent passion is playing with her DS Lite and riding on her new Razor Scooter. She has graduated from WebKinz and now loves BellaSara Cards.
She takes after her mother in being a major animal lover.
Her favorite subject in school is math. She loves to read and "do art". She will often join me on some of the swaps, especially ATC type things where more than one swap is sent to a partner.

Allergies

Walnuts, Raw tomatoes, dust, many kinds of wood (just the pollen and sawdust), I have very sensitive skin and don't wear makeup. I also have sensitive lungs and don't wear perfume much, but I do like scented candles and oils, etc.
I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE the smell of cigarettes and smoke. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE all things lavendar scented.

My Husband Dr. Dan

I'm married to a wonderful man who takes good care of me. He does all the cooking, but I'm the baker (and not bad, if I do say so myself). I know how to cook, but he's much better at it. His specialty is BBQ and Italian food.
I'm not much into sports, though I'm forced to watch MLB, golf and tennis b/c of my husband. (he's a Mets Fan) I have to admit that I like watching tennis.
Anyway, he's a History Professor at a top 10 rated private liberal arts college. He used to be a lawyer and hated it so he quit and went back to school for his PhD. He now has tenure whew! So we will probably not ever move.

Wish List

I would LOVE to receive a Pocky Bag.
Otherwise, I could also use
*ALTOID GUM!!! It's so hard to find!
*Pretty papers
*Sugar Skull anything (brighter the better!)
*Morsbags
*Buttons and Beads
*Glue (preferably Aileen's)
*Modge Podge
*Altered anything
*Roving
*Felt
*Sharpies
*Embroidery floss
*Kawaii Stickers and stuff (not standard Sanrio, I can get that easily enough)
*Girl Scout/Guide anything, especially membership pins from other countries than the US (I'm collecting) and US Council "Hamburgers" for all age groups
*Clean, non-smoky yarn (cheap acrylic stuff is great, even)
*Anything handmade with care by you!

Comment: OMG I got it today it was sooo cute and the interesting base now it's in my collection on my desk....I'm going to have to get a new desk soon :)
Response: HA! they are addictive! I was concerned that there was too much of a balancing act to get it to stand up so attaching it to a base (and old CD actually) makes standing on its own a sure thing. I'm glad you liked it and looking forward to swapping with you again!

Comment: I'm really disappointed in this rating. You hosted the swap, you told me you would be late eons ago..which I told you would be fine...but I still have not received anything. Deadline was July 18. it is now August 29. I emailed you since then without a response...and I know you've been on swap bot. So I don't understand and I'm really getting tired of swaps with parners who don't put much thought or care into....when I do.
Response: I'm very sorry you are so upset and I completely understand why. You are totally justified to feel this way. I have not forgotten about you or this swap and it will be coming to you soon. I don't want to just send something that hasn't had a lot of thought or care put into it which is why you haven't received it as yet. I apologize for your disappointment and hope I can make it up to you.

Comment: Thankyou for the wonderful shrine. I love it! :D Thanks also for the extra buddha (I can never have enough of those!) and the amazing and yummy coconut chai. :D
Response: I love those figurines, which is why I had to make it a large matchbox instead of a small one. Couldn't decide in the store which one to use for the box so... I'm glad you liked the box, it was special making it.
