About Me

April 2013 I finally have gotten one of my dreams fulfilled! I am the proud mama to 3 little chicks. Carlotta, Cornelia and Cynthia. Cynthia is named after my sister who is terrified of chickens. haha I have a photo of them on my flickr page. They are 2 days old in that photo.

.JUST TO LET YOU KNOW-- I RE-USE, RECYCLE AND RE-GIFT! I don't like to see anything without a loving home, so I usually share if it is something I can't use. I also reuse mailing envelopes.

I have not been as active here as I would like-taking care of my Mom requires more time lately.

I am Talyn (rhymes with Allen). I am a Stay at Home Mom with a 18 year old son, and a Shiba Inu dog named Sadie Sue. I am married and currently live in the town I was born in-Twin Falls, Idaho, but have also lived in Walla Walla, Washington and twice in Alaska- Juneau and Anchorage- and hope to live in Alaska again someday.

One of my favorite mottos...."housework won't kill you, but why take the chance?"

I LOVE Moose....I miss having them in my yard in Alaska. I do not miss the bears. They scare me.

Autumn is my favorite time of year. Love the Fall colors and the 'crisp' in the air. Thanksgiving is my favorite Holiday and my favorite meal. I even like SNOW, but too much rain depresses me.

I love the outdoors and go camping whenever I can get away. Nothing beats sitting around a campfire with a cup of hot cocoa and watching the moon and stars.

I do volunteering and sewing for charity. I make dresses for Orphans in Bangladesh, crochet scarves and wash cloths for CRAFTY ANGELS, Crochet leprosy bandages, knit hats for 'Coats for Kids' and sew baby quilts for the Women's Shelter, so any extra cotton or flannel fabric or even yarn is great with me!

I am a Christian, active in my Church, and volunteer in my Church's Community Service Center.

My Grandparents came to USA from Holland and I wish I had learned the language. Would love to visit Netherlands some day.

I do a little gardening and can my produce, grind wheat to make bread and my whole wheat pancakes. I would like to get a little greenhouse going . I have started composting again.

I am a Mess in the kitchen and need to wear an apron. I would love for someone to sew a MOOSEY apron for me..

I prefer spicy (cinnamon, peppermint etc.) scents over flowery scents.

I don't smoke or drink.

I take care of my elderly Mother.

I read a lot. I work crossword puzzles.

I have nothing against 'used' items, as I enjoy shopping at Second Hand stores myself.

I am collecting Dinner Plates that are Blue and White-like Blue Willow- but am having a hard time finding them at Second Hand Stores.

I like Mason Jars and use them store everything from Beans to Buttons.

I have a 'Wooden Shoe" collection.

Comment: Thank you so much for everything. I love the purse, but unfortunately, I am allergic to wool. (I've now added that to my profile) My daughter was here when I opened the package & she loved the purse too, so she's using it. The mitten ornaments are adorable. And I'm sure I can find a use for the flowers. Thank you so much again. I wish I could give you more than 1 heart!
Response: I am sorry about the wool-glad your daughter can use it. Talyn

Received your Ziploc and I am doing a happy dance. Since I have only one good leg, this looks rather like I'm falling over, but I am still very happy!

Thank you so much for the Mystery Baggie you just sent me. Love all of the handmade stuff you sent. I can sew but nothing else. No crocheting. knitting, crosstitching or embroidery. So you can see how excited I was to receive the crocheted dish rag, beautifully delicate pink doily and spring colors pot holder. Thanks for making my day!
