About Me

I grew up in Virginia. I lived many years in the Chicago area. I formerly worked as a psychiatric nurse. I have two daughters. One is a professor of dramatic arts at a university in England. Her sister has a master's in social work. I am a collector of post cards and stamps. I especially like foreign cards and stamps from Germany, Russia, and England. I belong to a stamp club but do not have the knowledge regarding the stamps that many of the men in the club have. I attend in part to learn more. I also have many US cards and stamps. I like vintage cards and stamps. I have some collectibles from the Chicago Century of Progress World's Fair. I enjoy reading biographies and mysteries, novels as well. I have many books, too many. I recently read "A Life in Secrets-Vera Atkins and the Missing Agents of WW11".I like British mysteries, Agatha Christie, etc.I think it is time to read "1984' again. I like music of many types. I like opera, Broadway tunes, jazz, classical--whatever appeals to my ear. I am a regular viewer of Netflix and go out to the movies when a good flick is showing. I check out PBS online to catch TV I might have missed on Masterpiece Theater programs. I love them. I used to watch "Mystery" but it's off now. I have moved from NH to VT. I am a passionate traveler and recently had a trip to England and Germany.

About Me

Likes: Vintage post cards color blue hats thriftstore finds foreign stamps Countries: England, Germany, Russia esp. but will travel anywhere i can British TV PBS WW2 songs geneology Reading all matter of books but hate Gothic and Horror, sciene fiction, fantasy

About Me

My post card preferences: As mentioned, I love real vintage cards, the older the better. I have a fine collection of early 1900s cards. I like black and white real photograph cards. I like cards from the 20s and 30s. I like cards with paintings, cards with cats and dogs, foreign cards, oddity cards, castles, not so much into churches or town halls. I like cards of hospitals. I like cards depicting southern scenes. I am a real eclectic. I like all cards associated with England and love cards that have been sent through the mail. Stamps: I like foreign more than US. I have many from around the world. Eastern Europe, I really like. And, unusual stamps.WW2 stamps are a preference of mine. And, all stamps remotely associated with England and the Queen.

About Me

More Special Likes: Real vintage anything prior to 1960 the older the better stationery black tea loose or bags greeting cards Christmas cards candles jewelry, earrings for pierced ears pins with letter M teabag dish anything Christmas theme items of WW2 vintage foreign coins Christmas stamps from foreign countries Love things British! keys, old ones mirrors dresser set items foreign magnets for refrig. old lace Oxfam or similar store items foreign calendars sm. cookbooks from English speaking countries Love Russian items from USSR times

About Me

Dislikes: cutesy items crafty things sewing items green and white teas obviously worn out things or soiled things anything preferred by a 15 year old

About Me

I only like black tea, no flavored tea. I like English Breakfast tea, Irish Breakfast tea, Darjeeling tea, Earl Grey. I drink it strong with milk and no sugar. I am an English purist concerning tea.

About Me

I have expressed my likes regarding post cards. I am a serious collector, but want everyone to know creases, holes in pcs as from thumb tacks, tanning of cards, tears, poor condition pcs are totally worthless, and I don't want them! Cards can be from 1907 and still be in great shape. I would think you out there who choose to send cards would know not to send poor condition cards. They go in the garbage.

About Me

I have failed to add my interest in writing. I have taken many writing courses over the years and am in one now, which is mainly stressing poetry, but we do prose writing as well. I have been active in Brattleboro, VT Write Action which you can find on facebook. I have writings in a few anthologies, but nothing published to sell for personal gain. I have kept journals from time to time and have been in a journal writing class. I still enjoy snail mail letter writing, but few share my enthusiasm.

About Me

Added point: I am petite , short and small boned. Keep this in mind when sending jewelry and personal wearing items. My wrist is small, Most bangles are way too large. I like lotions, soaps, feminine items, I have broad interests, but am not crafty. And, I like many things that are not vintage.

About Me

Please do not send me cancelled stamps. I am a collector of older unused stamps and currently have too many cancelled stamps.

Comment: Hi Betty Jean! Always fun to swap with you and I enjoyed your list of themes! It was very hot here, then we had storms that caused flooding and the last two days have been really nice out! It would be wonderful if that would last the rest of summer! LOL! All the best! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Response: Thanks for the heart. Rain for the next three days, they say. 90 degree weather many days. But NO tornadoes--they had flooding in northern VT, not here.

Comment: What beautiful postcards, Jean. Thank you so very much. You sent so many, too. I love it! So what did you think of Seattle while you were there? I lived there after Business College and I loved it. Wish I was still there. I have a sister in law there or close by . I would love to be able to live there close to her. But...not possible. Thanks again for your note and the postcards. 💜💗🤎💛💙💚📬🌹
Response: Thanks for the heart. I loved visiting Seattle. My stepson no longer lives there. How cheap flower bouquets are. I went to an artist's special museum.

Hello! I hope you get to go everywhere you like. Make a bucket list! You know one of our SB members works in National parks (in the US?) They are ~gorgeous.~ She sends me letters about a different one every time I swap with her.
