I am a mother of two boys ages 22 and 20 and wife to one husband, age undisclosed. I will be married 25 years this year.I have been a dental hygienist since 1998 and for the most part like my job. I try to recycle and reuse when I can. I admire resourcefulness, consider myself a positive person and appreciate kindness in thought word and deed.. Please let me know if you don't receive my swap. I won't sign up unless I'm certain I can send it. I rate promptly and would be grateful if you do the same. Thanks.
I have an interesting relationship with movies: I tend to get caught up in the costumes and the hairstyles and the scenery and more than once I have lost the story. I guess you could say I couldn't see the forest for the trees!! Anyway, movies I've enjoyed: The Shawshank Redemption, Legally Blonde (Reese Witherspoon is adorable in this), Twelve Angry Men , Slumdog Millionaire and The Pianist. One movie I could never follow despite several attempts is Hunt for Red October. Really! What is going on here?
TV shows that I make an appointment to either watch or record are "Mad Men" (the wardrobing is great), "Project Runway" and "Downton Abbey".
Crafts I favor are ones that can be completed fairly quickly. I much admire people who make quilts and knit afghans and the like. I just don't seem to have the patience for that. I sew a little and recently got some wool sweaters from the thrift store, felted them and made winter headbands out of them.It was a fun project. Fast and inexpensive. I have been making ATC's for a couple of years now and never get tired of them. I am always amazed by what people come up with.
Reading is something I have always enjoyed. It is difficult to pick favorites - there are so many good ones. However, some that stick out are; Sacajewa, The Last Days of Summer, The Red Tent, Memoirs of a Geisha , Angela's Ashes and The Secret Life of Bees. Broadly speaking, I like historical fiction and humor. I dislike Nicholas Sparks. sci-fi, romance, mystery and horror. Not a huge fan of short stories. I have enjoyed books that reveal things about other countries and cultures.
As I begin swapping, I look forward to seeing what other people are interested in and the approach they take. I am always on the look out for interesting paper, 'flatish' embellishments, nice ribbon- anything that could be used for making things like gift tags, note cards, ATC cards, book marks -- paper stuff. I would love to receive some return address labels, as I have not figured out how to do that on my printer yet. (I'll have to wait until one of my kids comes home from college, I guess.:p) I'm really open to pretty much anything. I like the trust, good nature and purity of swapping and am excited to be a part of it! :)
