I am a 34 year old pastry chef and mom to a lovely preschooler. I started my college studies in historic preservation and ended up with a culinary degree. Go figure. :) I am married with two dogs - a pug and a mix from the humane society.
Favorite Colors: Emerald, grass, and apple greens; Robin's egg blue, gray, navy blue, yellow, browns/naturals and tweedy/heathery colors.
I love all things handmade and packages put together with care. I love studying history and anthropology. I am especially fond of birds and nests, patchwork, the beach and ocean, funky travel souvenirs and locally made items from different places, postcards and old photographs, charm bracelets, eco-friendly/natural items, baking paraphernalia and baked goods related items, sockmonkeys, vintage style - especially 1930-1960's, japanese sewing/craft books, Shinzi Katoh, Vespa scooters; British, Scottish, Irish, German, Japanese, and Scandinavian things; Mid-century modern design, swallows, cherry blossoms, and lobsters. I also have a soft spot for mythical(?) creatures like the Loch Ness Monster, Yeti, and Bigfoot. I also like woodland themes such as gnomes, hedgehogs, owls, deer, evergreens, acorns, and mushrooms. I also like pirate/vintage style nautical things like tall ships, whales, octopus (octopii?), and sea monsters. This is a pretty specific list, but don't be scared! I just like lists. :) Any package put together for me with care will be loved.
My fabric preferences are cotton, linen, wool, and wool felt, unusual trims, ribbons, and bias tapes -especially linen and jacquard ribbon; Japanese prints(Superbuzzy style), Denyse Schmidt, Amy Butler, Heather Bailey, Michael Miller, Joel Dewberry, patchwork, vintage everything - especially 30's-60's and repro fabrics from that era, tiny flower prints and bird prints,mid-century modern, Eames style barkcloth and tropical print barkcloth, geometric prints, florals, polka dots, and traditional plaids.
I generally dislike denim, neon, drab and dark muted colors, realistic animal prints, sports themes, folky/Americana country, and Disney.
I love good dark chocolate and coconut flavored things. I'm a pretty adventurous taster. I enjoy both coffee and tea. Oh, and wagashi...I know it's a longshot! I like most scents except patchouli.
Craft Supplies I'd Love to Receive: Natural fiber yarn, kntting notions, wool felt, buttons (especially pretty vintage ones), spools of thread for sewing & sewing notions, ribbon, silver/brass charms, paper or velvet flowers, beads - especially pretty/unusual glass ones, needle felting supplies; knitting, sewing or embroidery patterns, craft magazines/books (pre-loved/read are fine!)
Etsy shop: (Currently on hiatus) Sweet Little is a vintage boutique that stocks items from the 1930's to the 1970's with a focus on mid-century items. The shop is filled with an eclectic mix of housewares, textiles, jewelry, beautiful clothes and decor for little ones, women's clothing and accessories, lacy unmentionables, and some lovely trims, patterns, and books for your crafty endeavors.
I like rockabilly and western swing, reggae, Gogol Bordello, Zee Avi, Matt and Kim, Tom Waits, Johnny Cash, The Amazing Crowns, The Dempseys, The Smiths, The Ramones,The Killers. I only listen to bands that start with "The". Kidding!
I love my NPR and have a little crush on Ira Glass from This American Life. But, who doesn't? :)
Everything is Illuminated, O Brother Where Art Thou, Amelie, Shawshank Redemption, Down By Law, Joy Luck Club, Raising Arizona, Master and Commander, Snatch, Inglorious Basterds, The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore, Walk the Line
Most of my faves are no longer on...so, The Office, Tosh.0, Weeds, Justified, Sons of Anarchy, and guiltily....Jersey Shore. Ahem.
Knitting, sewing, embroidery, pottery, needle felting, with a little bit of jewelry making and crochet thrown in.
