Inspired by the following blog post: Tackle Any issue With a List of 100

number 3: 100 Ways I Sabotage Myself AND/OR Number 4: 100 Things I’m Good At

Now you might thinking why in the world would I want to make such a list. I think Self-Care Coach and the author of Roadblocks to Creativity Linda Dessau explains it better than I would. "........the first step is to identify how you're sabotaging yourself..... my list of daily practices has had a big impact on my self-care. It's brought the issue into the forefront and...... Think carefully and take responsibility where it's due! Yes, there are other people in your life who affect how you spend your time. And, you still always had and have a choice.

Now you have a list of ways that you may be sabotaging yourself - congratulations! Please don't judge yourself or use this as evidence to fuel your inner saboteur, whose favourite saying may be "You can't do this". You CAN do this! This list is your line of defense against your inner saboteur.....The next step is to create your own self-care plan - a list of daily practices to foil your "inner saboteur" - and develop the healthy habits that will make you feel more energized, relaxed and balanced....(Read the full article on Overcoming Self-Sabotage

Okay for those who are just joining us you might be thinking so now what - what is it that I have to do:

  1. Write either lists or both and post (snail-mail)to your partner.
  2. If you would like to get a heart do both lists and send at least one item your partner might like (read their profile)

Why TWO lists - well if we want to do 100 list, 1 a month would take us about 8 years to complete. 2 a month 4 years.... I think you get the picture.

I am thinking if we post 4 lists once a month that could work well but I would like you input once again. I don't want to make it too hard. It needs to be fun, motivational etc.. suggestions?? Like requirement is 2 lists and 2 more list makes it heart worthy???????????

Optional: You can read and post your list on our blog. The link is above. On going poll:Simone's Butterfly Website

Open to ALL. Please note the following: Newbies must have full profiles (otherwise we can figure out what extra items we could send you). If you have a rating lower than 4 please contact me before signing up.

Wow. I think this will really help me to better my outlook. Either that, or it will send me spiraling out of control into a pit of self destruction. Ok, probably not. It sounds challenging and sounds like something that I need.

TheFallenAngel 02/ 5/2008 #

I like the idea of doing the other two for a heart. But it might be best if you skipped those two lists at the next swap, since nearly everyone will do them. Of course, you could just up it to four lists, twice a month, with the remaining lists being "freebies" that could be written for a heart.

If that makes sense?

At the end, we could take all of our lists, put them in a booklet, and swap them with, say, five or six partners. i.e., swap the completed project!

Shirley 02/ 5/2008 #

Can't we have a swap of one list once a week? I think it's better so that way you just sign up for the lists you're interested, and not a combo of two :) And also you'd get more mail! I prefer 4 separate list than an envelope with 4 lists... it's just an idea.

Shirley.

Simone 02/ 5/2008 #

Thanks Shirleycr.

After posting my first list off today - I did feel that it would be quite a push to fit more in.

Going to keep this one together - thought it would be good to do the a positive list so that when we look at the negative we don't spiral out of control like Katybean said.

I have some time to get more feed back before I list swap list 5 - In the meantime those who want to go ahead can see list the in Blog post link above: Tackle Any issue With a List of 100

And go ahead

I will be following that list.

Thank you so much to joining, sharing ideas and suggestions.

Putting a booklet together is a good idea.

anwyn 02/ 5/2008 #

i love the idea of having booklet at the end.

4 four a month would be good to do then we can all aim to do a list a week. and getting 4 pieces of mail is much more fun :D

these lists are great thanks for holding them!

bundabergsangel 02/ 5/2008 #

I agree, 1 list per week sounds good, but it's going to be a challenge!

dorsia 02/ 5/2008 #

Just another vote for one list per week. I think more than that, or doing more than one list at a time, doesn't give us enough time to really focus on learning from the listing process -- and it's such a great idea. Though I totally understand you combining the lists on this swap -- had to give it a try to see what works! :)

List number three is going to be really interesting for me, as I've been doing a lot of self-sabotaging lately. Good time to reflect on that, and thank goodness for the more positive list #4!

mag 02/ 6/2008 #

i like the idea of one list per swap as it's more fun to receive two lists from two different people rather than two lists from the same person.

and also, if two lists go together like this one, you could maybe let the two swaps run simultaneously. then, we could join both. that way, we can do a postive + negative list at the same time and get the lists from two different people. hmm..just an idea..

hallowhimsy 02/ 6/2008 #

I like the once a week idea...also, I like getting lists from different people...

JennyTheArtist 02/ 6/2008 #

Why are these two lists together??? I came up with 100 things I'm good at, but can't think of one way I sabotage myself, let alone 100. I'd hate to have to drop outta this swap because I can't do list #3...

Simone 02/ 7/2008 #

Should I Make this one either or??

In other words you have a choice to do one or the other or both.

Can do that.

AshleyShea 02/ 7/2008 #

I am confused. Is the second list -- 100 Things I Am Good At? Or, is it 100 Daily Practices I can use to keep myself from self-sabotaging myself. They sound like very different things to me.

emsmithjb 02/ 7/2008 #

I think 4 lists a month is reasonable. "List" the list swaps separately, though, so that people can sign up for an amount manageable to them.

jennhx 02/ 7/2008 #

I like that these two lists are together, because I agree doing the negative one would be hard if I didn't know it would be followed by a positive one to reset my self-esteem. ;)

But perhaps one list per week, so people can sign up for whichever list they are interested in. And if you are traveling etc on a certain week, you can skip that swap. Just my two cents!

Timeless63 02/ 8/2008 #

I agree with one per week. It will be great sending and getting the mail! Personally i could do two a week to two different people and we could finish in a year. 2 lists , 2 people...1 list to each person.

Simone 02/ 8/2008 #

The Second list in this swap is 100 Things I am good at.

To a certain extent the two lists are not directly related to each other. I just felt that doing list number 3 alone would not be too good for one's soul - tackling it is still beneficial though.

I am just following the list from Tackle Any issue With a List of 100.

TheFallenAngel 02/ 9/2008 #

One per week is a better idea than my original thought of two every other week. We wouldn't finish in a year, but at least nobody would get burnt out. Or, as it was suggested, two could be run each week (to two different people). I don't know how long it takes most people to complete the lists, but they're relatively quick for me... perhaps a half an hour or so.

Running negative / positive lists at the same time is a good idea, also. I've never had a problem with admitting to my own faults / problems / etc., but it can be depressing without balance of some sort.

(OT: I asked my husband to do the first list, just because I was curious as to how his would be different from mine. Some of the things he's grateful for? Short skirts, air and remote controls. Oy!)

Simone 02/10/2008 #

hehehehehe

Thanx TheFallenAngel

alifromourpatch 02/14/2008 #

Even though I haven't signed up for this current swap I did the first 100 list. I prefer the idea of one list per week.

Simone 02/17/2008 #

Hi

This swap has sneaked into the top ten ranking - that really surprises me.

angelstar 02/17/2008 #

I am SO happy you combined these two. I'm in. ;-)

angelstar 02/17/2008 #

I certainly would prefer to NOT see more than two swaps in one. I suppose anyone who doesn't want to join doesn't have to. I'm going to try both lists, but I make no guarantee that I will do them both.
:-)

bundabergsangel 02/17/2008 #

Ugh, I'm doing the 100 ways I sabotage myself list now...I spent 2 and a half hours on it last night, and an hour this morning, and I've got 56 so far. I couldn't think of more than 10 when I started, but things fold out. But now I'm really stuck...I think there must be some aspect I'm not seeing here!

anwyn 02/18/2008 #

ok this was a very challenging list to write i managed to do the 100 ways i sabotage myself fairly easily but the 100 things i'm good at was much harder says a lot about myself i think : )

Simone 02/18/2008 #

I am going to do my list today. I already know that procrastination is one the ways I sabotage myself.

The first 100 list - I set a goal for 3 weekends in a row before I actually did it.

Now I have started something I have to continue and I am not sorry I did.

Simone 02/18/2008 #

PS Remember you can choose the list you want to do

OR

do both

Simone 02/18/2008 #

Sjoe - I can 't believe but I did manage to complete List 3 in one session - the first 29 flowed then it was stop think go for a while then it just flowed again then I got to 91 and my daughter interrupted me but after I explained to her what I was doing - she is 7 years old - she sat next to until I was done - waiting so I could read her a story hehehehe - talk about pressure.

I am glad I am done - I did learn a few things and now I that I am ahead I will be writing 1 to 2 list a week.

Shirley 02/19/2008 #

Oh no :( I hope I get lucky and my partner writes both xD, no worries I'll of course give a five if she/he writes only one, but I was thinking on having a folder with the 100 lists of different people. I really hope each list gets an individual swap on the future, so I can have them all ^_^

Simone 02/19/2008 #

The next list will all go to individual swappers ^_^

And if your partner only sends you one, I don't mind posting you mine so you can complete your collection.

Simone 02/22/2008 #

Sjoe - I have completed list number 4 - I did not time myself but I feel as if it took me longer to do than list 3.

Simone 02/25/2008 #

Please note that the 100 list swaps in June and July will host by three other wonderful ladies that have volunteered to step in for me.

I will still be participating in them.

I post a list of these swaps and their hosts in my profile and on the blog soon.

So watch out for them.

jennhx 02/27/2008 #

Wow, it's great to see so many participants here. Simone, the ball is really rolling on this!

You are also welcome to post your lists for others to read--this is optional of course--on the blog (listof100.wordpress.com). Contact me if you don't have a username yet.

Simone 02/28/2008 #

I will checkout all participants before I assign partners.

anwyn 03/ 1/2008 #

Shirley: i did a mass joining of all the 100 list swap so i look list crazy as well. am thinking forward to Aug when i will be away travelling for a month but don't want to miss any list's so would it be possible to post them/email them to someone to post on when the partner's are assigned simone ?

Simone 03/ 1/2008 #

hehehehe

In the first swap I did receive a list which I forwarded on behalf of the participant - so that is possible. Some people don't mind getting e-mail swaps but that would be to hard to say in advance.

I might be living in Ireland in August - if all plans go well.

You will notice that three other ladies have kindly volunteered the swaps in June and July - moving country is a big thing!

I still need to put that info in my profile!

Waiting for clarity on my movements - and my profile also looks crazy with all the swaps I am in!

Simone 03/ 2/2008 #

Will assign partners as as the instruction appears.

Off to work now.

anwyn 03/ 4/2008 #

well we can all look crazy together then. : D

angelstar 03/ 4/2008 #

I had to do both lists! So I did. Sabotage was much easier. I only just finished Good At. Yeah, I guess that probably means something.
:-)
They are both in the envelope ready to be mailed tomorrow to my partner!

Jenny143 03/ 6/2008 #

Angelstar, Me too!!! "Sabotage" came out pretty easily (Yikes!) but the "Good At" list was a struggle. I was completely stuck at number 35. (Yikes again!) It all turned around when my husband said; "but honey, you're good at so many things, and you make me smile!" Turned my whole day around and I raced through the rest of that list in a shot! Yes, I got a good one for sure!

jennhx 03/ 6/2008 #

Jenny, that is wonderful! You have a great hubby to recognize and pat you on the back. I've finally signed up for all the swaps too so I'm joining the list-crazy ;)

Simone, congrats on your potential move!! Sounds so exciting!!
