About Me

March 2009 NOTE: I seem to not be receiving notifications of any personal messages sent to me on SB. I try to check here but sometimes a little while will go by before I think to check, since I'm not involved in any swaps currently. My work schedule is extremely busy these days so I don't really have time to swap.

A creative free-sprirt who is obsessed with organization and details. In other words, a living contradiction. ;) I live in Seattle, WA, USA; I'm 36 and married to a wonderful man. I am a technical editor, photographer, and kntter.

My passions are knitting, reading, walking, swimming, travel, and personal growth. I love languages. I speak French "almost" fluently and also studied Russian, Spanish and Navajo in college.

I collect yarn, books, postcards, postage stamps, and magazines with glossy pictures for collaging. I love chocolate (especially with fruit and/or nuts in it!). I drink tea mostly but enjoy the occasional coffee. I'm a feline at heart, I have two cats--but I love all animals, even humans ;-) I enjoy all colors except neons.

If you are sending to me, I'd appreciate it if you would use REAL STAMPS for postage when possible. I really like to see different stamps. Thanks a bunch.

FOOD-RELATED: I'm allergic to dairy, eggs and mushrooms.

FOR AN EXTRA-SPECIAL PACKAGE, I'd LOVE images of or things related to the following animals or items. Thanks so much! Moomintrolls, Zebras, Sheep or goats, Snowflakes, Rain, Giraffes, Camels

I'm on Facebook as Jennifer Kogut

Favorite Music

I still love some of my favorites from childhood like "Free to Be You & Me" and the original "Muppet Movie" soundtrack. Other than that I listen to world music, big band, and music from the 1920s, 30s, and 40s. I do like some more recent artists, mostly indie or folk, such as Elliott Smith, Korby Lenker, Joshua Radin, Jewel, and KT Tunstall.

Favorite Books

I read a lot of classic literature because I'm in a (now-defunct) group called Knit the Classics. Other books I've loved are the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series, Elizabeth George mysteries, Stephen King's Dark Tower series, all the Harry Potter books, The Count of Monte Cristo, and too many more to list.

Favorite Movies

Indie films, classics, Me and You and Everyone We Know, Enchanted April, Amelie, Rear Window, Bagdad Cafe (aka Out of Rosenheim). I like movies with authentic acting, and character-driven films. I can't watch violent or depressing movies anymore.

Favorite Television

Northern Exposure, Red Dwarf, Monarch of the Glen, Arrested Development. I'm more of a movie person.

Favorite Crafts

Knitting, SoulCollage, photography, card-making.

Comment: Thank you for the list! I am going through each list to see if there are any that I'd like to add to my list of books to read. Thanks!
Response: Yes, great idea - I'm going to do that too! Not that I don't already have enough on my "to read" list lol...

Comment: Thanks for a very interesting list as well as the comments. I am definitely going to give the "Blind" series a try.
Response: It can be a bit difficult at first to get into Saramago's style (very few periods and paragraph breaks), but once you get into the flow of it, it's fantastic!! Hope you like his stuff. Enjoy!

Comment: I'd give you multiple hearts if I could! Your list was great - and shockingly similar to mine in many cases! The recipes look very tasty, especially the Almond Ginger Drizzle - I'm going to work that into my menu for next week, I think. Thanks! :)

Comment: I love that there are several different types of music and all the kid's songs. I can even use the African Alphabet song for my student teaching because I have to teach social studies. Thanks, it's wonderful.
Response: Yay, I'm so glad! I know not everyone likes that kid stuff. You're welcome.

Comment: Thanks! I'm a huge Sarah Kramer fan, but I don't think I've ever tried that carrot soup. I always make a garlic soup when I feel like I'm coming down with something...it knocks the ick right outta me. :) I'll have to try your immunity soup, except sub some greens for the cabbage, cuz I hate cabbage. :P
Response: Yes, the nice thing about the immun-a-gogo soup is you can throw in whatever other veggies you have around, and leave out whatever you don't like or substitute it!

Hi Ros, No problem! I understand. (I'm running late on this one...ack..) Cheers, -Jennifer

Ros on May 20, 2008:

Hi,

The woman at the post office gave me the wrong stamp for the letter for the list of 100 swap, and I didn't realise, so it just came back to me!

I'm re-posting before the end of the day, but I just wanted to let you know that the letter might be a wee bit late! I'm SO sorry!

Thanks for understanding, Ros
