Knowledge Journal Swap

Swap Coordinator:PenguinBurger (contact)
Swap categories: Letters & Writing
Number of people in swap:30
Last day to signup/drop:October 10, 2008
Date items must be sent by:February 15, 2009
Number of swap partners:1

For this swap, each participant will create a journal of things they want their partner to know, basically any knowledge they want to pass on. The journal does not need to be profile specific, and it can contain any information you want to include. For example, I may decide to write a page of words I think everybody should know, followed by a recipe of my favorite enchiladas. Be as random as you want, but try to have a variety of information to both entertain and educate your partner.

Please fill the journal up, about 70 pages. I'm going to give this a long sending date so that everybody has the time to fill up the journal with as much knowledge as they can pack in to one journal!

I will ban people before assigning partners who have recent no-sends or are flakers, since this is a swap that requires a lot of commitment. This is an international swap.

If you have any questions, let me know!

Edit: It is acceptable to include information about religions, so long as the information you include is not meant to degrade or abuse any religions, or to blatantly persuade your partner.

About how many pages should the journal be?

PenguinBurger 09/27/2008 #

I'll edit to include that. I'm going to say 70 pages at least.

whowillloveme 09/27/2008 #

can i just ask...? are we allowed to do research on topics we find interesting, for this?

PenguinBurger 09/27/2008 #

Yep! You are allowed to research anything you want to include. It doesn't have to be off the top of your head at all.

ClaireAnn88 09/27/2008 #

What size should the journal be, and are both soft and hardcovers alright?

PenguinBurger 09/27/2008 #

I'm going to be using a spiral bound notebook with 70 pages that is 10.5 x 8 inches (26.7 x 20.3 cm). Anything close to that size is acceptable. Both soft and hardcovers are great!

whowillloveme 09/28/2008 #

Ashley - this is an amazing idea!! I notice people are signing up thick and fast!! x x x x

PenguinBurger 09/28/2008 #

Thanks for the encouragement. The idea came to me yesterday as I was thinking about what I would like to tell people about if I had the chance. I'm glad other people like the idea as well!

whowillloveme 09/28/2008 #

Random question - my journal is A4 right, and it has 40 sheets, but that would be 80 sides. Is that ok?

PenguinBurger 09/28/2008 #

That's fine! Just make sure it's approximately 70 sides of paper.

lw2dragonflies 09/29/2008 #

tinnuwen 10/ 3/2008 #

PenguinBurger 10/ 3/2008 #

Yes, it's international.

ClaireAnn88 10/ 4/2008 #

I have a hardcover journal that's A5 (5.8 × 8.3 inches) with 120 pages, would that be ok?

PenguinBurger 10/ 4/2008 #

Yes, that's fine!

jezebelsk 10/ 5/2008 #

I found a lovely - but slightly smaller - journal. It is 5.25 inches by 3.75 inches --- but it is 100 pages. Can I use this or should I keep looking?

PenguinBurger 10/ 5/2008 #

That's fine as well! Different sizes are fine. Just make sure that you are filling up your journal with as much information as you think your partner would like!

DebP 10/ 6/2008 #

I love this idea. Can't wait to try it out.

irisheye 10/ 9/2008 #

Hooray! Finally found something I could do with the journal I bought on the bargain rack months ago. :)
