Description:

Do you enjoy getting postcards? If so, then this swap is for you!

You will have 4 partners to whom you will send 1 postcard. No envelope necessary...in my opinion, having the postmark directly on the postcard makes it all that much better. A simple "hello" & your swap-bot user name on the card will suffice, but if you wish to write more please feel free.

I have updated this swap to make it international, due to general consensus!

What is an unusual postcard, you ask? It's not your typical tourist attraction/location, although it can be from somewhere like "the world's biggest ball of yarn" or the like. It can be artwork, funny, etc. No advertising postcards though, please.

Anyone with a rating of less than a 4.9 will be banned from this swap. I’m sorry if this seems harsh, but I’ve been stung in the past & I don’t want anyone to be stung in this swap. I will consider newbies, if you have a completed profile, because we have to start somewhere. However, I will ban anyone I feel might not follow through with their Swap.

Please don’t sign up if you’re at all unsure about committing to this swap.

If you don’t send out your swap, I’ll ban you from any of my future swaps.

Any questions, please feel free to ask me.

Have fun!

Postcards must be mailed out no later than November 22nd.

Could you, please, explain why so many swaps are U.S. only? And do not say this is because of the postage cost. Your country is the most wealthy of all! Thanks

AuntNub 10/16/2008 #

Hi guiswapbot! Thank you for your comment! The United States may be a very wealthy country, but this does not neccessarily mean that all of its residents are wealthy. Overseas postage can add up very quickly ~ it costs 94 cents (the equivilant of 2.00357 Brazilian Real) whether it's a postcard or letter (it doesn't matter which). That's why I originally chose to make my "Unusual Postcard" swaps U.S. only.

If the general consensus is to make this an international swap, I will gladly do so, no problem...just let me know...I will edit it to make it international.

I will second that.I know alot of times it is easier just to do the .27 it cost within the US to mail a PC. I prefer the US Only but would probably do it either way because I LOVE the unusual postcards I have gotten in the 1st round!

I love sending internationally :D Just as much as I love receiving internationally! If you don't decide to switch it you could always add "Feel free to make an international version of this swap".

choke 10/16/2008 #

I got to thinking...or host a version of both?

wackystuff 10/16/2008 #

Yea, all this US only stuff is so uncool. I bet you would get more "unusual" postcards if you included the rest of the planet.

Josietai 10/17/2008 #

Oh...I wish this is international :( I'm from Malaysia! Let me know if this turns out to be International or you set-up another for Int.

Missysmom 10/24/2008 #

Wow- it only costs 27 cents to send a PC in the USA? Canada is 52 cents within our own borders. And it costs us .96 and $1.60 for USA and International sends. I love getting stamps and unique cards from overseas so thanks for making this international.

When you say artwork ~ Would you consider a Mary Englebreight (sp?) PC to be unusual???? They are hard to find but I have some and I find them unusual but unique and pretty also! Wanted others thoughts!

AuntNub 10/29/2008 #

I guess when I say "unusual" I mean that it wouldn't be the usual touristy postcards from any particular country or area. You know...the Statue of Liberty, Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, Golden Gate Bridge, etc. It would have to be something harder to find & if it's a little weird, then all the better.

Hope this helps!

For unusual ones I go on cafepress.com and upload my own pics to make postcards.. that way I like them and know they are unique. Some of my recent ones are made with pics my mom or I took of sunsets and the beach.

I personally would love to get a Mary Englebreight post card. I love ME stuff and have quite a bit of it, but have never seen a post card.

AncientPlanter 11/ 8/2008 #

I'm still unsure about the "unusual" aspect. Can it be a "touristy" postcard that I've decorated to look unusual - like a dinosaur coming out of a lake or something?

AuntNub 11/ 9/2008 #

Hi AncientPlanter! I suppose it could be a "touristy" postcard, as long as it has been noticeably altered.

FarStarr 11/ 9/2008 #

Can they be handmade??

AuntNub 11/10/2008 #

Sure...why not?

candigirl 11/13/2008 #

Ancient Planter.. Personally, I would consider ANY dinosaur coming out of a lake to be .. unusual! Not something you see every day in your neighborhood! (hahaha...)
