Married 30 years, 3 grown kids, 3 grandchildren, plus Missy; a puppy-baby.. I work in community (home) health care, I am very social & sing at church (harmony). I love the colour red and wear it a lot. In decorating (home style more than on my ATC's) I like beads and shiny things- tassels and embellishments. I love exotic foods- Thai, E. Indian, Greek, Mexican and more. I wear only patchouli essential oil for perfume. I like COFFEE- not tea. I DO NOT like to be cold. I do not like to be misunderstood. I enjoy meeting new people- or hearing from them. I am always trying to see the hidden things behind people's behaviours- what makes a person who they are. I have done a personality profile and I am a "Perceiver". I like to visit the Post Secret site, Swap-bot, Flickr (mommi59) and Facebook. I like reading- when I have time and have a small magazine addiction. (and then I can never get rid of them.) I am always ripping words and good images out for collage art.
Third Day, Billy Klippert, John Mellencamp, Phil Collins, U2, Chris Daughtry, Nora Jones, Sheryl Crow, Josh Groban, Rod Stewart, Nickelback, Mexican and other world music. Really nearly anything I think- blues are wonderful! - pop opera, rock, folk. and I am realizing that I really enjoy country too.
Thrillers and dramas, some chickflix. Favorite actors- Clive Owen (Children of Men) I think he's sexy; Nicolas Cage, Richard Gere,(where has he gone?) Harrison Ford. Love!! time travel or time change stuff. Don't always get to see and keep up to date on them.
SURVIVOR!!,(have watched it since the 2nd season) Amazing Race (I`m getting a travel bug), Criminal Minds, House, CSI's, Lie to Me, American and Canadian Idol- 'cuz you discover some great new singers there. Have started to watch Heroes 'cuz I got 1st season DVD and love it too. Loving Flash Forward and V. And I love, love, love my PVR so I can now watch and skip thru' those 20 million commercials. Whoo-hoo
Stamping-cards, ATC's and postcards (especially handmade) and Collage. I will do one-on-one private swaps for hand-made or altered postcards and ATC's. I do some photography and have always "framed" things in my mind's eye. I like to balance my photos and I like different angles. Also black and whites. Altered images and dream-like themes. I like anything with time or time-travel themes, used postage, and vintage, trees, women.
PLEASE send REAL POSTAGE STAMPS on any swaps. I can't re-use that metered stuff* for my crafts.
I love anything to do with time travel/alteration/warp etc. I like to debate issues and beliefs, motives and personalities intrigue me. I am a Christian who is very much aware of my humanity and the flaws and cravings that go with our earth-bound souls. I sometimes have a bit of an edgy creative bent and think that is how these themes are safely "outletted" in my life.
I spell really well and spot mistakes- it bugs me. Cant help it- we didnt have TV growing up so I read everything. Consequently, I spell well and have a good vocabulary. Sometimes I have to explain myself to people. I also talk in allegories (beat around the bush- my husband says) and hope that people get what I mean. I guess I do that sometimes in my art too- sortof a free form association of images.
I always RATE my partners as soon as I receive my swaps and I ALWAYS SEND. If I am going to be even a day late, I will let you know by messaging you thru' Swap-bot. I used to give out hearts very liberally because I was just happy to receive each swap. But I have recently changed this to better reflect the quality of the cards I get rather than adding a heart for the extras. This is because I often find that I don't/won't use the so-called "goodies" and I think we should always put our top creative effort into every swap. Happy swapping.
I love to read the profiles on here and see what swaps people are in. It gives me an idea of who you are and where you are in life. I had decided not to join any groups because I dont want anyone to pre-judge me by that. For example- if I join the Christian group you get an image of me or if I joined the queer group you would get a different image. See- you are already jumping to conclusions!! Therefore- I dont want a group name put on me. By the way- I don't know why the computer put some of my profile in different print so that it looks like I'm stressing the point. Maybe that's a good thing. I love to communicate and will answer any messages. Or letters, if you want to send more words. People are the most amazing and interesting hobby you can find. We are all so unique and special and at the same time- all the same. I think I have become less judgmental as I've grown older and people are so essentially valuable no matter who they are or what they believe.
Loved the Time Traveller's Wife- Thanks to the profile that mentioned it- I didn't think to make a note of who it was. My favourite (yes, here in Canada this is the correct spelling) theme is historical fiction- generational stuff. And of course, science fiction- again, time alteration themes. S.M. Stirling is a good author for that. I am reading Diana Gabaldon's books. I am loving the getting back to avid reading- didn't know I was missing it so much. Magazines just aren't quite the same thing.
The Shack was good for expanding my beliefs about God and The Lovely Bones is an interesting take on heaven. I like Philip Yancey- hes not afraid of the questions.
Recent favourite new finds- Ann Lamotts Travelling Mercies- her rather irreverent and un-traditional journey to faith. Also Blue Shoe- a novel.
Just finished Abigail Thomas- A Three Dog Life.` Very good read.
My Pet Peeve on Swap-bot is ATC swaps with a one(1) card requirement. It costs the same to send 2 so why waste postage- especially international. Or at the least the term could be `not take full advantage of``` the postage. I often dont join a swap because of this fact.`
Thanks for thinking of me but I won`t be joining any specific groups on here as I find it takes up too much more of my computer time.
If anyone can give me some help on why this site changes the font sometimes- or why the question mark comes up as an accented capital E- I would love to know how to fix this. Thanks
