This is a quick turn around ATC swap to help Newbies to get a rating and experienced ATCers send off an ATC that they made that they never mailed off for what ever reason or one they just made for this. There is no criteria other than the standard of size (3.5 X 2.5 inches), sturdy and info on the back. Any theme or medium is OK. All I ask is that it is nice. So this is super fun, kind of like a crap-shoot no telling what you'll get!!

Since we are trying to help Newbies get a rating it is important that EVERYONE RATES as soon as they get their swap!! PLEASE! The only criteria is no 1s or 3s in the last three months. Since it only costs 94 cents to mail an ATC overseas, it is open to International to help out the International Newbies. I do reserve the right to ban anyone that seems fishy.

One ATC to one partner. Start making your ATC now if you need to make one because the turn around is quick. Be ready to mail as soon as partners are assigned

Let's have some fun and help out the newbies that might be tomorrow's great swappers!!!

I would like to join, but alas, I am a newbie. I have but one question, and it is: What is an ATC? :D

MommaRosita 01/12/2009 #

Mookseika: ATC Stands for Artist Trading Card, you can google it if you would like detailed info, but all you need to know to swap is that its 2.5 x 3.5 inches, usually sturdier than one piece of paper (if you search for it on etsy.com you can find ATCs blanks which can make it easier) they don't have to be paper though, I have seen fabric, metal and wood ones too. Anyways, if you want, feel free to check out my flickr for examples or just search flickr and you will find tons. Most of the info will come from you, its your art, so you make it how you want =D it just has to meet the size and you are golden! Hope that helped!

mooseika 01/12/2009 #

MommaRosita: Thank you for your help! I really do appreciate the information that you've given me, and I hope to start making some of these ATCs. :]

annychenghk 01/13/2009 #

I would like to join too. So, I only need to stick to the size. I saw some of them are rounded in four angles, and do I need to make it as a card with inner page? or one side folded?

Let me find more details on the web.....

momoeight 01/13/2009 #

So the only rules, I expect to be followed for this swap are as follows: SIZE 3.5 X 2.5 inches. MATERIALS: should be made or mounted on something as sturdy as a file card at the minimum, can be on thicker material. INFO: on the back you should but your name(either swap-bot name, real name or both), the date, your city and state (or country if not USA) and the words Swap-bot and ATC for Newbies and Oldies. Other than that, some people name their art, you can include your blog address or web site etc if you like.

You can hand draw or paint or chalk, you can cut and paste, you can glue on various material such as buttons, ribbon, lace, bottle caps. etc, you can use just about anything. It should be an expression of yours, however. Make it as artistic as possible. It can be beautiful, sad, scary, confusing, thought-provoking, angry. etc. Just keep it in good taste unless you have PMed your partner and gotten an OK for something controversial. The door is wide open on this one. No theme or expectations at all other than it be something nice.

So this particular ATC swap has no theme correct? So anything goes on the theme right?

Paralistocrat 01/15/2009 #

What information goes on the back of an atc?

dizzyfromthis 01/16/2009 #

I guess I am an "oldie" not sure I like that label but I will be glad to join the newbies. lol

(The only criteria is no 1s or 3s in the last three months.)

Since I am just joining (newbie) do I qualify or do I have to wait until I get a rating?

Some of the terms used in some of these swaps make me feel dumb ;) I still have no idea what kawaii is?

monteverde1997 01/16/2009 #

Question Monday Jan 19th is a national holiday and the mail isnt running. Does the ATC have to arrive in our partner's hands by Jan 21st?

Kii 01/16/2009 #

Yay, my first swap in Swap-Bot is about to begin.

midsummermuse 01/16/2009 #

Tammy 01/18/2009 #

I don't think I have ever seen this many on an atc swap!!!!!!!!

momoeight 01/18/2009 #

Hey everybody! I should be able to assign partners soon! This swap is HUGE and there are a lot of people from all over the world! So this is just awesome. Be looking for an email from me with further info and some surprise announcements!! Make those ACTs today and tomorrow since it is a holiday (in the USA) and have fun!

maestraw 01/18/2009 #

I just joined today and am very excited to get started. How many of you use an actual playing card to be sure your dimensions are correct? I am going to get mine finished tomorrow. I teach and will not have the day off. Poor me. :-(

Kii 01/19/2009 #

Yay, got my partner!! ^___^

schipygirl 01/19/2009 #

WOW! Can't believe the amount of people in this swap! Great job MOMOEIGHT! Got my partner and will head to the post office tomorrow since today is a holiday and they are closed.

RCCreations 01/19/2009 #

I'm so very excited to be apart of this swap! As a newbie, I have just one quick question. What are we rating each other based on? The artistry of the card? How we package it?

Thanks! Can't wait to get my ATC out in the mail!

maybesomeday 01/19/2009 #

This is going to be my very first ATC ever so I hope I do okay! I'm using a playing card to make sure the dimensions are correct and that its sturdy enough. I've been searching etsy for some digital epherma(sp?) so I hope it interesting.

jillywiccan 01/19/2009 #

I am thrilled to be able to participate in this swap!!! Also I am New to ATCs and I had to look into what they actually were... I love the Idea of trading cards and with these its something personal that we can create ourselves!!! Happy Swapping everyone and Blessings~
