Description:

I hope this doesn't offend anyone, that is certainly not my intention I assure you!

So for this swap you have one (1) partner and you send them one (1) ATC. The theme is Overweight Women/An overweight woman. You can interpret that how you like, you could make it a warts and all style portrait, you could make it a celebration of big and beautiful, almost anything goes.

ALMOST anything goes. ALMOST. Nothing offensive or derogatory please. Also, No sticker slapping, or plain pieces of card with a bogey wiped on it.

This does not have to be handdrawn, but please make it something you'd pee with excitement to recieve!

Have fun, play nice! x

This swap is offensive..... from the title I thought maybe it would be about chubby baby animals or something cute. As a person that was over weight growing up, who's school years were a nightmare and has had problems with weight all their life due to emotional eating I find this swap insulting

slamophile 08/10/2011 #

please don't think for me.. it might not be " offensive " to me.

PenguinParade 08/10/2011 #

Hehe reminds me of how I describe myself.. "I'm fluffy!" :D

Blacvulturetravels 08/10/2011 #

Dang. I am a fatty and do not find this offensive. I do not do 1 for 1 atc swaps but this one is a cool idea :) Hope you get a lot of people!

MeliaMellon 08/10/2011 #

Whoa, if people think the swap itself is offensive, how can we send something not offensive?

My thoughts on body acceptance and being healthy at any size are WAY too long and dramatastic for swap-bot comments, but I think this is a great idea.

A ton of cool swaps are for ATCs...I want to learn to make something that would cause spontaneous peeing!

charophyta 08/10/2011 #

Yayyy I love fat girls... of course I am one myself but I love drawing them too and I love seeing any art in this theme! :)

I'm guessing I come from the same school of thought as melia above me...

(I am fine with the term "fat" though, so titling this "not fat" seems silly to me, ha. I realize the negative connotations that this word has for many people however... so I get it!)

quiltncat 08/10/2011 #

Doesn't offend me either...I think it's a cool idea.

quiltncat 08/10/2011 #

I think perhaps those of us who have accepted and embrace our fluffiness are the ones who should participate, and those who are offended are welcome to not sign up for it.

charophyta 08/10/2011 #

Oh yes I also love pee inducing art!

claudialala3 08/11/2011 #

im also chunky and i think this is a great idea, i have made some cards of chunky women in a positive way or funny way, NO OFFENSIVE, but cute cards. awsome swap for those that accept their weight, and are confident in their body.

PenguinParade 08/11/2011 #

Oh, I can't remember the period in art, but women were depicted in fluffier and the paintings were gorgeous.

Dougal375 08/11/2011 #

Life always manages to offend someone. As a Fluffy figured lady myself, on and off , mostly on. You can not be offended by what others think of you it would be too depressing. Celebrate your size, have fun.

I tell people that I make Rubenesque girls look like they need a sandwich. ;)

Oh, and that XL on my clothes? It stands for X-tra Loveable.

runnerbean84 08/11/2011 #

Ok, well I created the swap, and I am 18stone..... so please don't start with the "I'm offended cus I was fat growing up".

I have been specific in saying 'Nothing derogatory or offensive', ie no nasty slogans or names etc.

I appreciate that weight is a sensitive issue, like I said, I'm a big girl myself, and while I am usually quite happy to refer to myself as fat and often poke fun at myself about it, I don't like it when someone else does it! But while it is a sensitive issue, it is a fact of life that some people are bigger than others and are overweight.

It is just as offensive to say that a big woman SHOULDN'T be the subject of an ATC!

I can only suggest that if you do find the existence of fat people offensive, because you used to be one, currently are one (as I would like to remind you again, I am), or have some deep seated psychological fear of them, or if it is just a sensitive subject for you in general.... simply don't join the swap. Just like you wouldn't join any swap that didn't float your boat.

runnerbean84 08/11/2011 #

Oh, and just to clarify... The title "Not fat!.... Cuddly", comes from something my friend used to say. She of course was skinny with thighs like a wishbone. If I ever moaned that I was fat she'd say "You're not fat, just cuddly!" and I'd think "Come on love, call a spade a spade, I'm clearly overweight!".

No deep meaning to it, just saying that that is where I got the title from! x

bytekel 08/14/2011 #

I love making people on my ATCs look like REAL people, this idea is awesome! Even my mermaids have some rolls around the middle! Glad to see that women aren't afraid to be cuddly :)

cherrybombgirl 08/14/2011 #

Around my house we say"I'm not fat, I'm FLUFFY!!!" Count me in!

mead2006 08/17/2011 #

i love this swap i'm a big girl me and my friends used to say the same thing i'm not fat i'm fluffy it's great to see others thinking big is beautiful

thisisme 08/17/2011 #

If a person is offended by this swap, they need to take a look at themselves. Embrace who you are... Fluffy is sexy. I'm a fluffy woman and you would be amazed at how many men and women out there appreciate a fluffy woman.

Embrace your fat.. Be who you are!!

djzmommy 08/24/2011 #

There's nothing wrong with a little pudge!! This sounds like fun..count this chubby chic in :)

LunaMoody 08/25/2011 #

I came on today thinking I would delete my earlier comment because I should not have wrote it. I was upset that day and was lashing out. That was a bad day for me. I had been to the hospital because of a problem with my diabetes and had basically been told that all my problems I have now could have been avoided if I wasn't over weight. And yes I am still over weight. For the record I don't find being over weight or over weight people offensive. When I first read the swap it sounded like over weight women were being made fun of and that made me angry. In any case I was not speaking for anyone but myself.

User8179- Its ok, we understand, maybe you should join the swap anyway it could be very theraputic, personally I believe a lot of what we are told about health issues and weight are wrong/deceptive. The problem is not fat, its additives and other chemicals that are pumped into our food, the fat is more an image thing (people who are hateful to "Cuddly" people are so because we reflect back to them their own insecurities and fears). Celebrate who you are, dont focus on your weight, focus on health (removing additives and harmfull chemicals from your enviroment), thats my advice, for what its worth.

runnerbean84 08/30/2011 #

Hi all. Thanks for joining the swap. @user8179 no probs. @djzmommy I love the word 'pudge'!!! My cake making business is called PODGE! x
