Ain't Misbehaving

THANK YOUs go out to all the kind folks who sent me well wishes and comforting words as I was recovering from Aug. 5th knee surgery. I'm all better now.

I work on a computer all day so I mostly avoid the one at home; however, if you send me a Swap-Bot message you'll get a really quick reply. If I owe you a rating, YELL AT ME. I have grey hair and I'm fine with admitting it doesn't hold in the memory that my brown hair did.

I am an old 50-something :) professional CADDmonkey, working in a large R&D lab. I have 3 indoor cats, a cockatiel, a spousal-unit, and a roommate. I am active in several clubs and like to travel. For fun, I keep up with the Atlanta Braves, read sci-fi novels, bowl on 3 leagues, play board games and cards, and enjoy exploring nature trails in our local parks. I collect old ceramic gravy boats. My favorite colors: Forest Green, Dark Brown, Bright Red. I like citrus-smells and images of dolphins.

Tunes in the Background

I will listen to almost anything for a short time, but my passions are movie/show soundtracks (Matrix, XXX, Phantom, Cats), new age/alternative (Acoustic Alchemy), light jazz (Harry Connick, Jr.), classical (Bach), and current country (Toby Keith).

Where's the popcorn?

I adore movies. My "default DVDs" include The Bridges Over Madison County, For Love of the Game, Armageddon, Out of Africa, Twister, Children of a Lesser God, The Longest Day, The Matrix, I Dreamed of Africa, Dances with Wolves, The Fifth Element, Blade, LadyHawke, The Quiet Man, Meet Joe Black, and The Secretary

Rarely On The Sofa

I don't watch much tv anymore. We usually tape CSI, NCIS, The Unit, and The Amazing Race during the week and watch them on Sat/Sun afternoons. We've also discovered the joy of ad-free tv (aka DVD season collections).

24 hrs per day? R U Sure?

swappersbadgeI love all kinds of things: scrap crafts, sewing (plus-size as a child, I learned early to make most anything), embroidery (not just x-stitch, but "fancy work" too), sketching/water colors, knitting (new to this!), crochet (even newer at this!!), writing (no talent, just desire), and learning new things

News at 11

I'm pretty boring on the surface, but underneath, watch out! I have a blog where ALL those tales are told. So, don't be afraid to "test the edge" of your usual envelopes. I'm pretty cool about most topics/imagery/artforms. ;) My Guilty pleasure? office/school supplies!! I adore stationery.

Spirituality

I am a pagan, ordained, eclectic, and active water witch, locally and with several area circles of pagan-folk. I'm a flamekeeper for Brighid and I teach basic spirituality a couple of times a year for community groups who ask me to. I've been "outta the broomcloset" since I was 40 (yike! that long??) so sometimes I'm lucky and get invited to present topics at Pride events. (old ladies rule, y'know) I have a sacred circle 25ft across in my backyard that's always a favorite place to hang-out.

I never received :(

Comment: Thank you very much. The ATC's are beautiful. The card and postcard are greatly appreciated. "Skips off singing Follow the Yellow Brick Road, Follow the Yellow Brick Road" xx
Response: Thanks for the heart. Much like "In the jungle, the mighty jungle..." sticks inside my head, YBR is another one that keeps me going on the treadmill. LOL

Comment: Good job. Where did you everr get such nice firm clear holders for them? Love the little key chain also.
Response: Thank you for the heart. I originally got them at my local Hobby shop (where the baseball card collectors go) but they have stopped carrying them. I'm going to hunt the internet now as the "temporary" replacements I had to take have SOLID backs. That means my recipients have to take the card out of the holder to look at the back. Grrrr. :)

Comment: what a wonderful gift to receive in the mail!! Is the picture of you?? If so, you look like my cousin. Professionally done!! Thank you so very, very much,

Comment: Thank you for the swap, the box is great and I love all the yarns and metal parts you sent! I'm a nature pagan so I'm fine without any specific logos/punchlines, hehe. :)
Response: Excellent. I'm happy to hear you rec'd it. (Dolphin totem myself, but I'm easy with most any imagery.) I have a little something sitting here that I only just discovered has managed to not hop into your box. I'll forward it on, later. Recovering from knee surgery at the moment, so mobility is a little limited. :)

Comment: Wow. Wow! WOW!! Stunning revelations, a sweet gift, and lots of great pictures included. What could possibly be better? I devoured everything you wrote last night. I'm so glad you contributed to my journal! I'm a lucky girl. My daughter spotted the cloth with her eagle eye and made off with it, but once she's asleep I'm taking it back! : ) Thank you, my friend!
Response: You are most welcome. I've begun the promised one-on-one "tote" for you. ;)

Comment: I wish I could give you more than one heart for this swap! I absolutely love the bookmark (the dragons are awesome) and the journal was just icing on the cake!! Thank you so much!!
Response: You are so welcome. I had a blast working on it. It went bowling with me, to a Greek restaurant (for a meeting), and even to work (for lunch break). Everybody wanted to see it. Cross-stitching is like that -- it draws an audience. And I figure everyone one needs another journal, right? When I found a bunch of pretty ones on sale, I grabbed them. :)

Comment: Loved your Atc's both are very Beautiful....Very clever ideals and very talented.. I am always impressed when you can tell things are well made and had some time spent on them, as I see yours are....Raven & Loretta really add that special something to my collection.. Beautiful extras too...For everything I Thank you with a heart and wish I could give you more than just the one..Because I Think you sure deserve more.....(I operate CNC Machine turning centers and use Cad/Cam, so I know a little about what you mean)...I am very happy to see that you in my Newspaper swap too..
Response: Aww, thank YOU. I enjoyed making these ATCs, because except for "color" the sky was the limit. I have an "ordinary" first name, but my sister has an "unusual" one. She always whines about not finding her name in those racks, so I figured you could use something "personalized" too. :)

Hi, just a quick note to let you know that I received Mojo's Traveling Journal from you in the Traveling Journal International Swap, round 3. If I could give you a heart and a 5 here I would ! I think it was a good idea to put the knitted holder around this journal. I don't think the magnet will hold everything in forever ! Thanks for the "grippy" too, these things can be amazing what they keep in place.

Note to hosts: I have deleted a comment here that was filled with foul language and a childish attitude after I rated someone a "3" when they mailed a swap more than 2 weeks after the Send By date. I do not appreciate the nasty language and will remove it if it shows up again.
