About Me

Hi! My name is Pam! My husband's name is Doug,who farms and we have three children, all girls. Holly, Heidi and Sara.

Our oldest daughter is Holly, a newlywed yet! She and her honey, R.D. were married on May 7th. On Father's Day last year, she moved to Michigan and has now started a new job as an R.N. there. The only thing upsetting about this entire move and marriage is the distance from home. But we will adjust and survive!!! Just recently she and R.D. purchased an acreage in between the two different cities where they work. Needless to say they won't be making it home for the holidays, so we will definitely be ready for a visit.

Heidi our middle child is married to B.K., and they have two of our most adorable grandchildren J.A. and K.E.

But wait there is more news about Grqndkids!!! Sara, our youngest, who along with her significant other, had their first child, a baby girl on April 16th. R.M. is just as sweet as she can be! These grandkids are just as precious as can be!!!

I'm a retired school teacher. I taught Kindergarten for 18 years and then was promoted to 6th grade for the next 16 years! I loved my job and I miss my co-workers and former students! We keep in touch via FB!

Favorite Crafts

I do believe that "Card Making" is my favorite craft! I love the idea of sharing my talents with family and friends! I have never participated in a swap before, but I am so excited about the Valentine Swap and the Old Picture Postcard Swap that I have signed up for. I know that I will enjoy working on my creations!!!

Other crafts that I am interested in are: Counted Cross Stitch, Crocheting, Crafts for Kids, and probably anything that involves "Doodling" or just "Creative Inspiration"!

Oops another thought here, I love lots of colors. I am especially into patriotic colors, and pink and purple. But I also love an aqua, lime green or even black and white!!! Any colors you choose will be just fine with me!! I'll enjoy them all!!!

I am also addicted to the computer! I enjoy FB, Words with Friends, and similar fun types of games! I also like exploring the different websites that deal with interests that appeal to me! Usually that includes anything dealing with crafts, new ideas or anything "clean and innocent"!!!

New Recipes

Baking is another hobby I have! I love to try out new recipes and I never fail to have someone around to try them out on!!! Some recipes I call "keepers" and then there are the "others" (like "stinky potatoes" which my daughters hated) and laugh and still remind me about!!! Bars, candy, cookies, and cakes are my specialties! Especially at Christmas and Valentine's Day!!!

Since running into some health issues I am unable to be quite as busy in the kitchen and/or housekeeping business. Thankfully I have a caring and loving husband who is so willing to help me out when I am in need of assistance. Usually during the spring and fall, most people will normally have found me busy in the kitchen and which I still am to a certain degree. My menus are now simplified to the max specially since my husband is still farming and these are his busy seasons. I'm still baking but also adding meals to the responsibilities of a "farmer's wife"!!! When I was a kid, we delivered meals and snacks and lunches to the field all the time. I loved it and thought it was so much fun. I still sometimes do the "meals on wheels" during our busy seasons. But now if they are working nearby, my husband chauffeurs everyone in to the house for a needed break and a meal. Much nicer than before and I really appreciate his thoughtfulness. Making big meals, probably isn't my favorite activity, but we still enjoy the makings anyhow!!! Plus it is nice for family members and those helping us out in the field to have a distraction once in a while!!! So "Meals on Wheels" is still part of my agenda for certain days and certain seasons!!! Good thing I love my husband and kids ... Or I would have retired from that also!!!

My Life Now ...

Since retiring, I just am enjoying life. Once in a while I substitute teach at our local school, work and sub in our Public Library or just enjoy traveling with my husband for parts, or checking out different ideas that the two of us come up with. He likes a traveling mate and I enjoy getting out! However one thing about our parts' trips is my "just a short time I'll be in there" when there is a craft store in the area. He doesn't appreciate those "short excursions of mine". Too long and he gets bored!!! I have no idea of why!!! He always gets a good nap in!!!

After retiring, I was asked about applying for our library position when it opened up, but I said "no" to the opportunity! For years, as a teacher I taught all through the fall, winter, and spring months. It wasn't so bad during the fall and spring because my husband was busy also. But when he had time off in the winter ... what was I doing... working! So needless to say, I decided against working full time at our public library. However I do enjoy subbing there once in a while!

And hopefully sometime in the winter, one of these days since our kids are finally out on their own, maybe we will do some traveling of our own and see the "warmer sights" of the world in the winter time. Snowy, below zero weather is not for me!!!

Enough about me! I am so looking forward to being a part of this group. So who knows ... maybe u will be my first swap of many more to come!!! Thrilled to be a part of the "swap-bot"!!!

Brighten Up A Profile!!

Hello! So lovely to "meet" you in such a way! :)

It looks like we have a lot of crafts in common! I've just recently (this year) gotten into papercrafting, and am having a lot of fun with it so far! Especially with heat embossing! Do you have a favourite technique?

I also love cross stitch and have recently come back to it after a few years hiatus. Just finished a Tweety bird bookmark :)

I don't crochet, but I do knit. Actually, I'd like to try crochet sometime. I've seen SO MANY patterns I'd love to do if/when I actually get to it. Though I worry my cats may react like this...

There were a few close calls while I've been knitting already!
