About Me

Hello! I'm Carmen. I live in the Lower Mainland of BC, Canada with my fiancé, his mother, and 2 black cats named Luna and Enzo.

I have various credentials in the field of Psychology, but am very indecisive as to what I'd like to pursue as a career, so who knows where I'll go next.

I've recently discovered a love of all things mail related and swapping fun, so decided to give this a try after it was brought to my attention :)

  • Quick Note: I'm incredibly easy to please! If you can't match my preferences/wishlist very much, don't worry about it :) Send a surprise! Or feel free to contact me :)

Hobbies

My hobbies include (but are not limited to, because I always forget to mention things):

  • Reading
  • Writing fiction and letters
  • Crafts: knitting, beading, cross-stitch, papercraft, heat embossing, .....the list goes on
  • Video games
  • TV and movies (but the book is always better!)

I'm always on the lookout for new penpals, so if something in my profile catches your eye and you'd like to stay in touch beyond our initial swap, let me know :)

Postcard Preferences

I'm incredibly flexible on postcards, so send something you think I'd like! But please check my Flickr album to avoid sending duplicates as much as possible.

If you're a Postcrossing member, you can check my profile and favourites for inspiration :)

I prefer postcards to be written and stamped without envelopes, if at all possible.

I like to read about other people and countries, so it would be great if you could write a bit about yourself. I'm also fond of languages, so if you're able to write some thing in another language along wit translation, that would be cool!

Other Likes

  • Tweety Bird: I'm a MASSIVE fan and am always thrilled to receive Tweety items!

  • Tea: I'm open to all flavours, but if there isn't English on the label I'd appreciate a quick note letting me know the flavour!

  • Hot chocolate and/or coffee (or a mix thereof!)

  • Letter Writing supplies: Nice paper and/or envelopes

  • Bookmarks

  • Craft supplies: Yarn, ribbon, buttons, beads, stickers, cardstock, embossing powders (though I'm not sure how those would travel through customs), etc...

  • Surprise me!

Comment: Thanks for the 🔑 pc and what you’re reading. 😀 “Poison Study” sounds good. 😀 Ah yes, have read all the “A Series of Unfortunate Events” books. Pretty good reads, although more questions than answers, especially last book.
Response: I definitely enjoyed Poison Study - I just finished it yesterday! Thanks for the rating and the heart :)

Comment: At the very least, that's intriguing! I loved reding your detailed review ☺ I felt just like you, that I would never have picked up that book for myself, & that once I picked it up, it would have kept ne at it for curiosity! In fact I would never think that zombies are stuff of POEMS Thanks for joining!

Comment: Carmen, I LOVE your review of Zombie Haiku! If this book is not on my TBR, I'll be adding it as soon as I submit this rating. As you may have guessed from the review I wrote of the book I read (and all the extra information I put into it), I have a great love for Haiku. But I too count the syllables as I read them! My fingers count while I give "voice" silently to the words. :-D I really don't know why I've never tried to read a book of Haiku poetry. I'll have to see about reading Zombie Haiku soon! Maybe even this October, for Halloween? :-) Thank you sooo much for sharing! :-) <3
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words! I hope you enjoy the book too :) Thanks for the rating and the heart!

Comment: Thanks for reading Everless, Carmen! As it turns out, you feel kinda the same as I did once I got a little away from the book: "meh." As a debut, I think the book was likely worth four stars. But in the field she wrote it for, I felt it was just a three-star book. I thank you for your answers to my questions. I *might* someday reread this book to see if I can make sense of what all I asked, too, but I don't know that I'll be able to work up the interest. After all, it already took me five days to read its just 361 pages, so how much more leisurely do I need to be with it? And since I did share how it ends in my review on Goodreads. . . Anyway, I'm glad that you and I are mostly in agreement about this first book! Do you plan to continue on in the series and read book two? Thank you for sharing! :-) <3
Response: Thanks so much for the rating and the heart! I probably will read book 2, if I remember to look into it when it comes out, haha!

Comment: Thanks for your swap! I agree, The Crown was a letdown for me too. I don't like the turn about Eadlyn had, and all her decisions, that seemed like they were out of the blue
Response: Sounds like we're on the same page for this one :) Thanks for the rating and the heart!

I got your 2nd quarter reading log. Thank you for sending, I really enjoyed reading it. I use random number generator to decide what to read too. Also I am a part of Carpe Librum group on swap-bot. We have a nice monthly swap called Pick my next read. The idea is to let your swap partner to choose the book for you to read from the TBR list.
