About Me

When I'm not cooking away in the kitchen, you'll find me hiking mountains, swinging a kettlebell, singing karaoke with my husband, or cuddling my two cats. My favorite thing in the world is traveling. I love active vacations and also beautiful places to relax. I love the Cotswolds, Paris, wine country in Italy, especially the House Montali in Umbria, and Lucerne, Switzerland, which is one of the most charming places on the planet.

I am vegan, which means that in addition to eating an animal-free diet, I also eschew eggs and dairy. Veganism and animal rights are two things I'm very passionate about, and I love reading about these topics any chance I get. I think it's healthy for me, our world, and of course, the animals.

I like artwork that is heavily based on the natural world, like trees, birds, fruits, veggies, etc.

Little Britain (UK), Flight of the Conchords, Secret Diary of a Call Girl (UK), Jekyll (UK), Biggest Loser (US & UK), The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Colbert Report, Dr. Who (UK--the new series), and I still have a big soft spot for Mister Rogers' Neighborhood and Bob Ross.

Favorite Crafts

Cooking, painting, photography, editing home videos & DVD's, and pop-up cards.

Favorite Books

My favorite books include The China Study, Food Revolution, The Time Traveler's Wife, Hungry Planet, & Fast Food Nation. I read The Boxcar Children repeatedly growing up and the Tobey Heydon books by Rosamond Du Jardin, Paddington Bear, and the Ramona Quimby books, and I'm still quite fond of them.

I loved reading through your blog and learning more about the dishes. I'm definitely picking up a copy of Vegan Table for myself. I hope to get you as my partner again and again!

Comment: I enjoyed reading your zine and thanks for the Doctor Who cards. I have to admit that Jon Pertwee will always be "my doctor". Not so much a Tennant fan, altho I gather lots of people love him. For a chuckle, look up the song "Carrot juice is murder" by the Arrogant Worms. PS I enjoyed reading your zine. I'm reading a book called "hey mom, will eating this chicken give me man boobs?" lots of similar themes. Oh, and your title got a chuckle from my husband. I don't think I fully appreciated it until he said it out loud. "I pity tofu"

Comment: Thanks for sending out such an informative 'zine. Even though in my case you were "preaching to the choir" for most of it, I think I'm ready to consider taking the next step to wean myself off of dairy. I'll never be completely vegan as long as I have my own happy hens in the yard, but I can live with that.

my girls and I watched the Angel dvd last night and laughed till we cried. [fave scene: everyone's walking in slo mo down the hallway, getting ready to kick ass, and there's tiny muppet Angel. hahahahha!] we did have popcorn with the viewing and I love the little buckets you sent. and, your hub rocks a mean dvd case let me tell you - thank him for the extra episode and special features, for everything! I appreciate those extra touches very much - thank you for an Awesome package!
