About Me

I ALWAYS SEND OUT MY SWAPS. If it is an e-mail swap and you don't get anything, check your bulk folder, and if it is not there, then e-mail or contact me and I will re-send it.

I'm a teacher, an artist and a writer. I make stuff, lots of stuff, particularly collage, mixed media, books, and boxes. My blog is http://sparklebluefaery.blogspot.com.

I teach Kindergarten at a small private school.

My other hobbies besides art include hiking, yoga, and reading. I like to cook, generally only if it is quick. I don't eat any red meat, so if you get me for a recipe swap I would really appreciate recipes without cow or pig. Birds and fish are fine though. Eventually one day I will go full out vegetarian.

My favorite color is blue (obviously), however I also like green, purple, and silver. I love essential oils and anything scented with jasmine or lavender. I have two neurotic cats whom I love very much. They like handmade cat toys, trash that can be used as a cat toy(which I have way too much of, so if I'm in a kitty swap, please don't send any crumbled paper balls, we're quite stocked on those), and chicken flavored kitty treats.

I always send out my swaps, so if you don't get anything, contact me.

Favorite Music

I particularly like folk music, french music, rock music, reggae, some old school hip hop, and whimsical music. My favorite artists: Ani DiFranco (I love her), Tool, A Perfect Circle, Ditty Bops, Patty Griffin, Tori Amos. In short, anything but country and R&B, the only genres I dislike (but I'm sure there are songs in those genres I do like).

Favorite Movies

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Pan's Labyrinth. Amelie. Gattica. Lots of French movies. Any distopian thriller. Movies that have a French language audio option.

Favorite Books

Anais Nin Journals, anything by Lynne Perrala or Gwen Deihn (colorful art journal books), Sabrina Ward Harrison.

I also like books with lesson plans and activities I can do with my class. My big thing right now is shoe box learning centers.

Favorite Crafts

Altered Books, mail art, zines, handmade books, collage, painting, atcs, art dolls, anything to do with fairies

Things I Love

Things I love: * Fairies, * Penguins, * Frida Kahlo, * Butterflies, * Vincent Van Gogh, * Anything French or Parisian, * cherry flavored, * art supplies, * blank books, * thrift stores, * candles, * skeletons and skulls(fake please), * long flowing hippie skirts, * dancing, * zines, * blue, * flowers, * blue skies, * cool breezes, * exploring forests, * cats, * ferrets, * the moon

Things I Dislike

Pink (I hate the color pink!), red, gold, yellow, bees, spiders, cow meat, pig meat, weird animal meat, dirt, and driving in CA.

Random Things I Collect

  • Anything to do with fairies, especially figurines and t-shirts.
  • crystals and gem stones
  • Sea Shells
  • Penguins- I've loved penguins since way before they became popular, and all my relatives who had no clue what to buy me for my birthday showered me with random penguin items, and stuffed penguins.
  • Small boxes I may or may not get around to altering.
  • Books (I only have three bookshelves overflowing, doesn't everyone?)
  • Silver jewelry.
  • Collage paper
  • Star and moon decorated things. That's the theme of my bedroom.
  • Anything and everything having to do with Paris France. (that overlaps in the books, considering one of those bookshelves is either books about France or in French.)
  • gel pens.
  • tarot cards
  • ATCs. I love making them, and it is so fun to receive them in the mail. I have two cigar boxes full of them thanks to Swap-Bot! It's exciting to get mail that is not an advertisement or a bill!
  • On that note, just about everything I've gotten from Swap-Bot goes into my collection of "random spiffy things received from other people."

My Students

I have six Kindergarten boys in my class this year! Send something for our classroom and earn an automatic heart!

They love: * snakes * bugs * teddy bears * cars * dinosaurs * transformers

I like little tiny toys that I can give out every week as prizes. Also, stickers in any of the above topics for them.

Every weekend, I try to go to a garage or a thrift store to pick up one special toy to introduce to the classroom. They love it, and it's a great reward for them.

Kindergarten children's books are also great. My favorite (children) authors are Eric Carle, Leo Leonni, and Shel Silverstein. I also love the Ms. Bindergarten books. The kids love any books, especially those with pictures of the above topics.

Really love the extra zine you included with the art zine swap (but didn't want to mention it too much in the rating). I've never made a doll & I'm not into fairies, but I still enjoyed reading about it. I am into mail art, so I loved the musical postcard idea, even though the techniques are a bit over my head. I will attempt mixed media - one day...
