About Me

I'm married and have 1 dog and 2 cats. I'm a teacher librarian. I love to travel.

Please! If you don't receive a swap from me, let me know and I will be happy to re-send. I have found that the USPS cannot be trusted. They even returned to me the entire top inch of an envelope I sent, the rest of which was just lost due to their machine tearing it up.

If you receive something from me with postage due, please tell me and I will reimburse you for it.

Please rate me--I want to know that you received my swap because I DO NOT flake!

Likes / Dislikes

While I like anything that a person is nice enough to send me, I don't particularly care for cartoon-themed items or country/western items.

And please, no friendship books, decos, etc.--I don't swap those.

My favorite color is red, but I like all colors.

Following are some particular likes:

washi tape

ribbon, lace, fibers

Favorite Crafts

I'm not an artist by any means, but I love to make greeting cards and other paper crafts like bookmarks. Pinterest has provided me with much inspiration! Thanks to Swap-bot, I've gotten interested in ATCs, inchies, and altered books/notebooks!

I also love to cross-stitch--I guess because I can't draw pretty pictures, I get some satisfaction out of stitching them.

Favorite Books

Currently Reading: Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

Favorite book? I just love books period. If I could make a living by reading, I'd be in heaven! I'm a long time Stephen King fan. I enjoy several different genres, but I tend to lean toward fantasy-- alternate realities, dystopian societies, mythical creatures, etc. I'm not a big fan of westerns or nonfiction, though, especially not self-help. I'm in a book club that meets once a month.

Favorite Music

I like alternative music best. Alanis Morissette, Muse, Florence + the Machine, Hurts, Of Monsters and Men, Mumford and Sons, Sia, etc. But I also like 80's music, some Pop music (but not teen-agery music like Justin Bieber), classical sometimes, some hard rock. I'm not a fan of country music, but there are a few country songs I like.

Favorite Movies

Latest movie watched: Mary Queen of Scots Netflix DVD

I love going to the movies. I just love the dark theater, the big screen, the loud sound, and the popcorn! I always go with my sister and husband. I prefer horror, action/adventure, thriller, mystery, sci-fi, and drama more than comedy and romantic. But I'll go see those as well. I also like foreign films and don't mind reading subtitles. Some of the best movies I've seen are foreign. I like some old movies, but I don't tend to be drawn to those.

Favorite Television

The TV keeps me company. I don't necessarily need to be watching it, but I like having it on. However, I do have several shows that I love.

Amazing Race, Vikings, NCIS, Big Bang Theory, This is Us, Doctor Who, The Great British Baking Show, and The Graham Norton Show--I know I'm leaving some out, but those are the ones that are on right now that I watch. Some shows that I love that have been or will soon be cancelled are Grimm, Fringe, Psych, Warehouse 13, Alphas, Longmire, Almost Human, Being Human, and Firefly.

Comment: Anita - WOW! What a Beautiful card you sent for this swap!! It arrived yesterday and I put it on my desk, and woke up this morning to a fantastic sparkling card. Sooo pretty. Thank you very much...and where did you find the gold sparkles? Just beautiful.
Response: I'm so glad you like it! I think it turned out really well. I used Icicles Stickles for the sparkle, and it picked up gold highlights. Thanks for the heart!
Comment: Hi Anita! These are SO pretty! Your sewing is flawless and the images you chose are great. I'm especially fond of the one with the Halloween witch die-cut. Wow--that was REALLY clever; I wish I had thought to do that! It shows through the vellum beautifully. Thanks so much for a wonderful swap; hope we're partnered again soon!
Response: I'm so glad you like them! I'm enjoying all these new paper crafting ideas. What a great group! Thanks for the heart!

Comment: What a fun teacup card. I like tea, but I’m opposite you in that I drink mostly green tea varieties. But I can agree on one thing - no hibiscus!
Response: I'm glad you liked it! I just had a new flavor of tea tonight--Toasted Coconut Almond Bark. It was pretty good. Thanks for the heart!

Response: Happy fall to you too! Thanks for the heart!
Comment: I love the postcard and the creepy images - the poem got a little torn, sadly, but the little black devils are thankfully intact! I would be heartbroken if a dog tore up a book with pictures like this! The Victorians clearly knew how to do Halloween!
Response: Oh, I'm sorry the poem tore! I should've glued it on better. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for the heart!

Comment: Oh That book!!! I read that last summer, I think. Yeah, probably not the book you'd want to visit, huh? I remember it being good though. We've read/listened to several books about Native Americans this year that have given us a different point of view. I can share the titles if you'd like.
Response: Thanks for the heart! Yes, please do send me the titles of the Native American books you read/listened to.

Comment: Hi! Great to hear your story. :) Sounds like you're all set for a great job, right? :) I hope you are able to navigate some of the events for the school year. :) Our local library is holding their book discussion groups on a FaceBook live chat, and it seems to be going pretty well. I heard from someone else that their bookgroup is holding book discussions on YouTube, so I guess people are getting creative! I wish you a great year. :)
Response: Thank you for the encouragement! The book club I am in has been meeting on Zoom, so I'm sure I could do something like that for my students. Thanks for the heart!
Comment: Great use of the paper! It goes very nice with brown backing and the flower stamp. this was a fun swap - thanks for hosting it!
Response: I'm glad you like it! Thank you for joining the swap, and thanks for the heart!
