About Me

02/12/2018 FYI - I moved recently. Finally. Kind of. Anyway, the old address isn't good anymore, but I did put in a change of address card, and for the most part, stuff has been forwarded. I did change my address here, so it's been showing up correctly in swaps. Just posting here in case you were about to send a RAK or something to cheer this old lady up. :)

12/13/2017 It's hard to believe that this will be my third Christmas without any living family members. My losses feel so recent - but of course, that's because it's all in my own head. I have been enjoying the love given to me via snail mail from my Swap-Bot family. Thank you!

I love good mail, and I always have! I was in the Army, but that was years ago. Now I'm living the high life in Reno (get it? High life? Sierra? oh well...), working as an office manager. I have three cats, a love of tarot, divination, and gardening (flowers, not veggies). I like to read (cozy mysteries are my current faves), I'm a magazine-aholic, and I drink lots of chamomile tea (no wonder I'm so calm!).

I love Mary Engelbreit, French Kitty, Chococat, Maneki Neko and scotties. For scents, vanilla, spice, and citrus-smelling items are my favorites. I love tarot cards and other types of divination. I love cats. And reading. And BPAL!!! I love cosmetic and perfume samples. I'm rediscovering fairies. I would love guided meditation CDs (okay if burned copies!). I love magazines: girlie, home, different (Utne, Mental Floss, B*tch, Bust), mystery (Ellery Queen, Alfred Hitchcock), and British mags. Starbucks cards are always appreciated! I guess you could say I'm a girly girl...love pink.

Favorite colors are the combo of pink and black together, yellow and gray together, pink and brown together, turquoise and brown together. I don't wear silver jewelry, but love gold and copper. I like autumn colors, but my office is decorated kind of with purples and browns.

Being an ex-California girl and a Scorpio, I have a love of water. I am almost always in the bathtub or taking a shower. My favorite bath/lotion stuff is Blackberry Vanilla (their "sensual" scent), Warm Vanilla Sugar and Moonlight (Moonlit?) Path by Bath & Body Works, Pear Glace by Victoria's Secret, and Origins Ginger scented stuff.

I love Yankee candles, but not many of the floral scented ones. Some favorites include, but not limited to, Sage & Citrus, Lemon Lavender, French Vanilla, Fresh Balsam, Home Sweet Home, and Spiced Pumpkin. I also like the Bath and Body scents as well, especially the Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream!

I HATE GLITTER. Seriously...glitter and I don't get along. Glitter is the litter of the art world...it gets on everything, you can never get rid of it, and it lingers until the end of time.

GLITTER. I think I mentioned that already, but it's always worth mentioning again! ;-)

Photo albums and frames I don't post pictures around the house or at my desk.

Most things made in China Seriously. Their products have killed cats and dogs and children. Why do we continue to trade with China? I realize that I can't stay away from all things China - but for sure stay away from items my food might touch, that go into my mouth, or on my face/body are items I will not use.

Memo sheets For the most part I prefer the whole pad or nothing at all. I've gotten to the point where I just throw loose memo sheets away, so it's not worth your time or money to send them to me.

Hot Drinks I would prefer not to receive any hot drinks (teas, hot chocolate, etc.). I am not really a hot drink kind of gal - and I especially don't drink hot chocolate, because I don't drink milk.

Earrings, bracelets, rings

Christmas ornaments I do not set up a tree.

Postcards I do not participate in postcard swaps anymore. Exception: I enjoy receiving blank/unused Mary Engelbreit and kitty postcards, especially Grumpy Cat.

White chocolate This is like Fake News - a lot of hype, and no substance! :)

Cosmetics/Lip Balms I get all I need through the beauty box subs to which I subscribe!

Knick Knacks and Whatnots

Some of my favorite things include:

  • Mary Engelbreit
  • Laurel Burch (esp. cats & dogs)
  • French Kitty
  • Chococat
  • Owls
  • Tarot
  • Gardening
  • Cozy mysteries (without romance)
  • Cats (I have three)
  • Magazines! I hardly ever buy them, but I love them!
  • Dark chocolate
  • Dark chocolate sea salt caramels!
  • Scotties
  • Lucky Cat (also known as Maneki Neko)
  • Roll on perfumes
  • Copper anything!
  • Bath salts (not made in China)
  • Candles (also not made in China)
  • Bookmarks
  • Witch stuff (not hags)
  • Grumpy Cat (who doesn't?)
  • Cool stickers (meaning not reward, kids, Disney, etc.)
  • Pretty note cards (not from Dollar store)

Group Wish Lists

I love, love, LOVE granting wishes via the Wish Lists posted in various groups I belong to. However, I am really tired of not getting thanked - either via PM or Profile Comment - for sending out wishes. As rudeness should not be rewarded, I've decided to stop sending out wishes to those people who can't be bothered to offer a thank you.

I'm also avoiding the dreaded "One Wish Wonders" - you know who you are. You're the people who post expansive, expensive, and extensive wish lists, yet only send out the minimum of 1 wish per month. You guys suck the fun right out of it.

Don't Open 'Til Christmas Swap

Regarding "Don't Open Till Christmas" type swaps - I am rating 5s once received, and will add hearts and additional comments after opening.

Favorite Crafts

I don't think of myself as a crafty person, but I do engage in light papercrafting for pocket letters (my new favorite thing to do) and I have also started to make my own small envelopes (microlopes).

I was attempting to learn how to knit... that didn't go well, but I don't think I've given up entirely yet. I recently bought a crochet needle, and I hope to learn how to make dishcloths. We'll see...

The one thing I like to do, but is really expensive to send, is making altered candles. I use the glass pillar candles that can be found in the "religious" section of the grocery store, and I decoupage them, add embellishments, etc. I like to make spell candles out of them, or "just for fun" candles - this Christmas I made myself a holiday candle using fabric, a vintage image of a cat hanging up an ornament, some fancy yarn, and a jingle bell.

I had a lot of fun with altered clothespins as well - this crafting thing is addicting!

Things I have to swap

If anyone is interested in a one-on-one, I have some stuff - US only:

Lots of cosmetics, brand new, received from Ipsy and Birchbox. Let me know what you are interested in (eye make up, etc.). I have a ton of stuff I would love to get rid of it all.

Also have some tarot decks I wouldn't mind swapping. If interested, let me know, and I'll tell you what I've got in my "going away" stack!

I know tea is popular in the swap world. Please refrain from sending it to me. Due to dietary restrictions and allergies, I am unable to consume most teas. Chamomile and rooibus work for me. Everything else seems to cause distress - and that includes chamomile tea doctored with any other type of flavoring, like citrus.

Please: no green tea, no black tea - caffeinated or otherwise. My system reacts wildly inappropriately to it!

Thank you!

Comment: Thank you! So many things to love! The candle smells lovely, and the socks feel so comfortable. J'adore les cartes postales de Paris! The painted rock is so cute! I even love the fibers you used to tie up the packages, and the cats are having a good time with the paper.
Response: Thank you so much for the quick rating and heart. So glad you like the items! Sure was a fun swap!

Comment: Apologies for the late rate. I thought I'd gotten to this sooner, but it must have slipped through the cracks. Thank you so much! I'll be back in December to comment on the gift itself.
Comment: Thank you so much (again) for the beautiful Stocking Stuffers! The chipboard pieces came with perfect timing!! I used them right away! I love the stamp set and will definitely use it often. I appreciate your generosity, Lucy! Hugs, Patty
Comment: Love how my present is wrapped...and for the Mary E Rhinestone accent. Thank-you.

Comment: Lucy...Haha...what a cute card and it is always FUN to get "happy mail" from you....that darn gopher on the back of the card is responsible for me still having snow covered ground and cold temps here in NY...sooooooo ready for Spring!! Thanks for the fun swap/note and making my Irish day just a tad bit greener!! LOL Happy Easter and Spring!...Charlene
Comment: Lucy, thank you for the cute St. Patrick's Day card. My husband is Irish and I am Polish. What a combination! I make corned beef with potatoes, carrots and turnip. He doesn't like cabbage and I hate to make it for myself. Nothing like cabbage and vinegar. I can not wait for warmer weather. We have had the coldest winter in 55 years. Shirley
Response: Wow, you got that card so quickly! I'm impressed with the USPS! Now you've gone and made me hungry with your great description of your St. Paddy's day meal. Probably time for me to eat lunch! :)

Comment: Lucy you are too much! I love y stocking stuffers! Because I was having a ugh kind of day, I opened them today! I love every single gift... the pencil case is perfect and needed... the tile to perfect and is already on my coffee table... the bottle of flowers! I had that same bottle and ran out a few months ago! I have never been able to find another one! Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and generosity! Your kind heart filled mine with smiles! Hugs xoxo
Response: I got that at my favorite thrift store! They have a great crafts section - well-organized. It's like walking into a mini-Michael's! They had two, and I bought them, thinking one could be a gift and one could be for me... So glad it found the right home!
Comment: Thanks so much for the beautiful notecard, note, and owl tag! OMG, did you draw that tag yourself? I’m so jealous, it’s so pretty! I occasionally will see owls where I live, but I’m always so excited to see them. I have a tall eucalyptus tree in my backyard and sometimes when the sun is setting, I will find an owl in my tree! Thanks again for your lovely note!
Response: Oh I wish I could take credit for drawing the tag, but alas, I did not! I can barely even draw a stick figure! So jelly of all your owl sightings - that really was my first! Thank you for the quick rating and heart!
Comment: Thank you for the cute card and goodies Lucy! Mail to my house seems to be delayed for some reason :( Maybe the weather!
Comment: Can't wait to open :)
Response: Thank you for the quick rating and the heart. I know what you mean - Dec. seems so very far away!
Comment: Thanks for the card, great punches and where did you get that Alice Cooper sticker????
Response: It wasn't a sticker - I cut and pasted an image of AC from some cartoon (I dunno which because I don't watch them) on to another image of a heart using Word, then I printed, cut out and glued on! So glad you liked it. Thank you for the quick rating and heart!

Thank you for the fabric from the rak as well as the wonderful animal heads on human body notecards. I have no idea if I am going to be able to part with those or end up hoarding them. The fabric will definitely get used and not just hoarded though (:
