About Me

I am a 28 year old wife and amateur crafter and amateur cook and amateur painter and amateur seamstress... I'm messy and can't seem to keep to one craft for very long. I love my husband with all my heart and can't imagine my life without him. We have 2 cats.

My blog is really the best way to learn about me if you don't know me.

Favorite Music

cocco rosie, my brightest diamond, sol seppy, edith piaf, emiliana torrini, imogen heap, fiona apple, sigur ros, amiina, climber, keren ann, innocence mission, janet klein, jenny lewis and the watson twins, joanna newsom, stars, cesaria evora, bjork, billie holiday, belle and sebastian, kent, radiohead, the cardigans, damien rice, beck, moby, the shins, bright eyes, the postal service, death cab for cutie, múm, regina spektor, trespassers william... yeah i like music

Music i don't like:

country everything, top 40 pop, r&b, rap. But even in those genre's there is at least one exception artist that i like.

Favorite Movies

amelie, garden state, i heart huckabees, finding neverland, a very long engagement, goodbye lenin, royal tenenbaums, pride and prejudice (the bbc one) donnie darko, the dark crystal, labyrinth, orlando, a room with a view, the science of sleep, little miss sunshine, mirrormask, pans labyrinth, eddie izzard-dressed to kill

Favorite Television

Buffy, Angel, Bones, Veronica Mars, Firefly, BBC Coupling, BBC Office, House, PBS anything really, travel and cooking shows. Oh and BBC Dr. Who, the most recent series. It might be my favorite.

Favorite Crafts

currently i dabble in or am learning to sew, needle felt, water color painting, screen printing, embroidery, oil crayons. I'm really excited about sewing and needle felting most of all right now. I have a picasa site which i put pictures of the stuff i have made. let me know if you'd like to see.

I have in the past made paper, candles, soap, lipbalm, done some beading, cross stitch, clay pendants... I'm sure i have forgotten something

Things I'm not so fond of...

current pop culture/mall culture things. mass produced stuff. disney anything. girly movies for the most part. American patriotic things. romance novels, true crime books, christian fiction. reality tv of all sorts... really, i'm not into being emotionally manipulated by the things around me, as much as is possible.

things i am really fond of...

I really love muted bright colors and clean lined designs. I absolutely love anything from about 1920-1940. if is could i would dress from only that time frame. I am mad about vintage kitchens. Oh someday i will own a beautiful 50's turquoise fridge and matching range.

I'm also really into... japanese kwaii, french anything, vintage, owls, deer, birds, mini things, silhouettes, graphic arts, fairy tales and children's stories- creepy, slightly off ones, :) random kitschy stuff.

Comment: I was reading a little Wilde just this morning! Thanks so much for the lovely portable copy of The Picture Of Dorian Gray! The selection of teas smell glorious and look so pretty too. I don't know which to try first! Thanks so much.
Response: oh Dorian Grey is perfect for this time of year in my opinion. :) Have fun. I had to make my self not buy any more tea for us. We have a whole big deep drawer full. :)

Comment: Wow..this was truly a treasure to receive. Thanks!
Response: oh yay! I had wanted to put heads and arms and legs on the number cards in the garland i made for you so they'd be soldiers but when i got that much done i decided that maybe it didn't need it. I'm still finding things alice related on my goodwill and vintage store trips and thinking "oh that would have been great for the alice swap!" I just found another, though different from your's, old wonderful alice book at goodwill the other day and this one i'm keeping. :)

This just may be the best swap package I've ever received. :) Not only did I get a darling stuffed bunny, but Trina included instructions and pattern so I can make them myself! Beautiful packaging, and lots of wonderful extras. Thank you SO much! I wish I could give you 3,325 hearts. :)
Response: thanks so much! I had so much fun making the little guy and the box. :)
