11/15/2010 I will be taking a break from swaps for a bit. It's the end of the semester and I'm crammed with writing papers, and taking exams. I also just started a new full time job and am trying to balance my life with that huge change! I have two PC tags to send and a couple of messages out there about swaps I did not receive. I will keep checking in regularly, just won't be signing up for any new swaps for a bit. Hope to be back in on the fun soon!
I make changes to my profile often, so please keep that in mind and revisit if you are partnered with me more than once.
My name is Kathleen and I live in central-southwestern Illinois. Almost just across the mighty Mississippi River from St. Louis Missouri.
I just celebrated a 30th anniversary of writing to one pen pal in Canada. We grew up together through letters, what an amazing journey.
I enjoy traveling, domestic and international. I have been to England five times, and can't get enough of the culture or castles. I am a true Anglophile. I've also been to France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg, Scotland, Wales, Mexico, Canada, Bahamas. I've been to 22 states.
My most recent trip was a 20 hour drive from Illinois to the Texas coast, more precisely Padre Island, with a niece and nephew, both 18 just graduated from high school. Next trip in 2011, I'm off to Alaska! Future traveling desires: South Pacific Islands, Australia, Kenya & Tanzania (photo safari) and Japan.
I recently lost a job of 18 years and I'm currently a full time college student persuing a degree in Biology, I'm old enough to be mother to most of the other students! And older than my instructors too! This semester I have Women's Literature, World Geography, History of Religion & Statistics. Homework is a killer.
I consider myself an environmentalist and conservationist. We must save and protect our resources and planet earth. We as a nation are horrible to the planet we not only live on, but share with the world. We as a nation should lead the way to global healing. It all starts with one person at a time, so step up America!. Yes, I'm a tree hugger, full of passion too.
I live with three incredible dogs, Ringo, Squirt & Spike, and two nieces and three nephews (that's a long story).
I am a Girl Scout leader.
Kids & animals & the planet are my #1 priorities.
I volunteer at the St. Louis Zoo (stlzoo.orq).
I volunteer at a local animal shelter by walking dogs.
I am spiritual, currently not into organized religion. (Catholic upbringing)
I celebrate all holidays.
Other cultures fascinate me, and I believe in "Tolerance & Co-existence". Why can't we all just get along?
I am in Postcrossing.
