My mother passed away recently, she's my best friend and I love and miss her very much.
All my swaps and tags have gone out. If you are missing anything from me please PM me and I will respond as soon as I can. I pledge to rate, if I forgot to rate you or acknowledge your tag please remind me, I've been forgetful lately.
Note I am looking for Pink, Teal, and or Silver vintage or vintage looking Christmas tree decorations. I theme my tree every year and this is what I'm doing this year.
I'm a full time non trad student going for an accounting certificate. I also have a degree in theatre. I have 2 dogs, Ginger who is 10 years old and Johnny Cash is 1.
Likes:
Coffee & Hot Chocolate (not tea) (Thanks to Christmas I currently have tons of ground coffee so not really in need of anymore of that but I like instant flavored coffee like the International Coffee but it does NOT have to be that brand), or things to use in coffee for example those spoons that are dipped in chocolate
Stuff for the dogs, we're always on the lookout for treats especially ones I can use for training the puppy, but any toys need to be heavy duty rubber or else they tear right through them (please no $ store things for the dogs, thanks). Also because of recent recalls and other scares nothing manufactured in Asia for them. I think I'm more picky about what I give them than I am for myself since they are my babies and can't read labels for themselves.
Funky Vintage
Asian Inspired things (or really anything "ethnic" South American, African, Indian, Mexican....)
Theater Masks (I have several, including one from Mexico and one from China that I love, which combine my love for theater masks and ethnic things.)
If you're sending me candy I like chocolate (especially with nuts), toffee, and coffee/mocha flavored
I have a thing for Catholic Saints including Mother Mary.
Things I probably won't use: * Scrapbooking paper * stickers * Kid Stuff * dollar store dog toys, bathing products, food
I listen to mostly 60's, Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin.
Also: Black Crowes, Gnarls Barkley, Johnny Cash (but not really any other country), Modest Mouse, especially music recorded live.
Alice in Wonderland, Jean Auel's Earth's Children Series, Travel Books (especially about off the beaten path type stuff), & home decorating books. Tom Robbins is my all time favorite author and I can reread him 100 times over.
I host a craft night a couple of times a year for both my crafty and non-crafty friends. We've done different things like handmade valentines, garden stepping stones, day of the dead skulls (for halloween), matchboxes, and tried altered art bottle caps. I also make a lot of both beaded and hemp jewelry. I could really use focal beads/pendants that will fit on hemp. If you have a craft you think I'd like please share it with me! (But I don't knit/crochet)
My kitchen is a medium tone green with deep burgendy, orange, and deep blue accents, I would love to have new dish towels/pot holders, (handmade would be great but I want to be able to use them too without burning myself) Or maybe a 50's inspired apron?
My house was built mid last century (1950's)and although that time period was never one of my favorites for decorating it has grown on me-especially Eames era type stuff.
My bathroom is 50's style pink and blue tile and I want to decorate it with a 50's Florida flamingo theme (think tourist plates).
I like practical things over frilly/cute/knick knacky things. I prefer natural colors (browns, deep blues, tans) over bright, pastel or neon.
I love scarves. Not the winter kind but big ones that can be worn in 100 different ways from neck wrap to skirt or shawl like pashinas.
I love China Town in NYC when I get there. Last year my friend was there on a business trip and made a special trip to China Town to get me slippers for Christmas (which are now falling apart so I could use another pair). Some of my favorite things I've gotten there include a carved wooden plaque and little dragon and Buddha statues.
I like off beat fashion magazines (like Nylon). I take the pictures and try to recreate the looks by shopping at Salvation Army (aka "Sally's"). I love being told what a great outfit when I've spent less than $20 on the whole thing.
Right now I'm on a search for "vintage" slips (size M) but haven't had a lot of luck at my local thrift stores.
I love Vintage/Thriftstore finds if they truly are a "find" and can easily be cleaned up, but please no old/dirty items.
I try to reduce, reuse, recycle.
I prefer wood, metal, glass and fibers over plastic items.
These are just some ideas and in NO WAY an inclusive list.
50's Mushroom art (wall hangings, spoon rests, etc.)
Long scarves to wear in my hair
Anthing 1950's, Eames era, mid century modern, June cleaver inspired
Hula Doll
Lampwork Glass Beads
60's or 70's inspired (or vintage) Handbag/Purse
Vintage jewelry either to wear, take apart and use in new creations, or reconstructed by you. (I've found some really fun stuff at estate sales and thrift shops for under $1)
Tablecloth for a round 24" diameter top side table in my living room (ideas could be asian, Indian, Eames style, medium tone blue, burnt orange, brown, tan, burgandy, olive green and could be made from repurposed fabric)
A book that you have enjoyed that you think I would like (used but in good shape is preferred over new)
Eyeglass Case (the kind with a hinge) bonus points if you alter it in some way so it's not boring
Mix CD's: Amy Winehouse, Johnny Cash, any live bootleg esp. Phish and Dead (all my bootlegs are on tape), something to listen to while driving, or anything you think I'd like
gently used magazines (nothing too old, a couple of months is good), fashion, craft, home, garden, Martha Stewart, or anything else you think I might like
Erasers (especially fun or funky ones), I make a lot of mistakes and seem to run out of eraser before I do pencil, any kind
