About Me

I love reading, cooking, making art, writing and learning new things. I'm passionate about social justice and equality and taking care of our dear planet and all who live here.

Being Earth friendly is important to me so I have a preference for re-cycled, second hand and handmade stuff.

I'm a long time vegan. I don't eat or wear any animals or use stuff made from leather, wool, feathers, bees wax etc. No meat, dairy, honey. If you're not sure feel free to ask.

I have a black and white tuxedo cat named Wednesday Caddams.

I love vintage decor especially 1940's & 1950's. I love Mexican art and crafts especially vintage.

Fave colors: Green and Pink.

Extras are nice but I'm happiest if you really put thought and heart into the swap it self.

Comment: Thank you for the Awesome journal! I will start taking a better look at the insides of envelopes. There are some really great designs.
Response: That's true, Mostly blue for some reason. I wonder if it is to keep the contents private (less see through) Glad you like it :)

Comment: Food chunks are the best.
Response: Food packaging can be fun. Most of the time we don't even think that an artist created it.

Comment: Hi Teagen! Cute ice cream cone pc! My favorite flavor would be plain vanilla (you can dress it up so many ways) or orange sherbet. I've never tried anything made with soy or coconut milk. Cute stickers on the card. Thanks so much & Take care, Judy
Response: I'm glad it got there! Ben & Jerry's has a dairy free line now that I think is almond based. The one I tried was really good. Too cold for ice cream right now, unless it's on top of a hot brownie...

Comment: Thank you for the Alphonse Mucha postcard (I love his artwork) and for sharing what you're reading now. It sounds like an interesting book!
Response: I didn't know who that was but I looked it up and he has a very distinct style. I'm sure I've seen it and didn't know.

Comment: My husband was with me when I picked up the card... Me: “It’s a... deer. In a donut.... From a vegan shop... in Portland.” Him: “Because of course it’s in Portland.” We both love Portland, but the hipster jokes are still pretty accurate.
Response: You're right it is very Portland. At one time a friend of mine was getting soup (Vegan) delivered by bicycle in a reusable mason jar. Probably by anarchists.

Comment: Thank you for the postcard! I'm quite curious about the book you're reading. I just might add it to my list. I'm aiming to read at least 52 books this year.
Response: That's a great goal! It's a long book but I read it quickly.

Comment: Hello Teagen. This was my first reading log swap too. You have read very interesting books that have got me interested as well. I will check the local libraries for The History of Love, The Buddha in the Attic, The New Jim Crow, and Helen in love. Liked all the decorative writing on the envelope. Happy reading.
Response: I'm so glad you want to read those books!

Comment: Thanks so much for the Minizine and newsy note. I actually DID read The Buddha in the Attic. I keep track of my reading, too. I have a blog that I started in 2008, mainly because, as a teacher, I needed to remember all the good (and not-so-good) books to encourage kids to read. Now I keep track of lots of program-related books for my job at the library. But, I love keeping track of the just-for-me books I read, too I've read 68 novels so far this year....
Response: That is so impressive. My top was 58 books in 2013, the year I started my list. I do about half fiction half non. I'll finish #29 for this year tonight.

Comment: Teagen, thank you for the minizine and the nice letter! I laughed at the part about the dog in the santa hat that was also a spectator! I wish I could have seen the jump rope group with the light-up ropes; I bet that looked great! I liked the minizine and the way you put it together using facing pages as a single page. And I hadn't thought of using colored paper either; I guess I'm locked to thinking inside the box, so I'll have to work on being a bit more creative like that. Great topic too! Thanks for a great swap!
Response: I'm glad you are happy with this swap. The facing pages give a bit more space and I have to leave a little border since my printer doesn't go all the way to the edge. Challenges help with inventiveness :)
