i always send by the send-by date and i rate as i receive mail. if you don't receive something from me, please please please let me know and we'll work something out. if you've sent to me and haven't been rated, that means i haven't received it.
re-sends are appreciated but not expected. if you send and it gets lost in the postal void (as can & does happen) and you can't resend (for whatever reason), it's all good. i don't rate down for stuff that's out of your control.
if you are going to be late sending, please let me know. i understand that life happens. family/personal issues always come first! i don't rate "3's" just because you are running a little behind. things happen and i understand that. i'm a reasonable kind of girl. :)
i am marie. i'm 31, married to chris (for 11 years on 3/27). he's a year younger than i am.
we have two children. nicholas is 13 (complete with the new teenage attitude that really started at like age 11) and in middle school. elizabeth is 5 and is in kindergarten.
we live in the middle of God's nowhere, also known as bethany, north carolina. it's not on a map. it's sort of in between stedman and wade (which are on the map probably because they needed to fill in some space. both places are very very tiny. one stop light, 2 post offices and a grocery store between the two towns!)
I've been a member of swap-bot since December of 2006.
when i'm not busy pulling my hair out and pleading with a child to "not touch that again", i like to curl up with a nice hot cup of coffee and a good book and read or some crafting stuff and create.
i have a varied taste in music. some top 40 stuff, some country, some alternative, a little bit of rock & roll. it is rare for me to be home and the stereo not be on.... or for me to moving about without the mp3 player glued to my belt loop and earphones stuck in my ears. :)
current favorites are things that have a really good beat that can be danced to. And i love nickelback. chad kroeger has this voice that i could just get lost in!
deadliest catch, man vs wild, almost anything on the discovery channel, the science channel or the history channel. i catch syndicated episodes of law & order: svu and every once in awhile, house. i watch a lot of news and i usually watch the opening commentary of the view while having lunch.
i like to read. a lot. anything with words. i made a new year's resolution (in 2007) to read more nonfiction and i'm happy that i've stuck with it so far. (hey, any resolution that i keep for more than 10 days is good so to have kept it for 15 months is just awesome.) books about religion are especially interesting to me even if i don't personally agree with what they say.... books about historical events. and for fun, "fluff" as my husband calls them... any type of fiction that can be read in a few hours and just tell a story without making you think too much. by the time the day is over, i don't have very many brain cells left to think with... ;-)
shooter, smoking aces (it's a bit out there but was fun to watch), hot fuzz (another in the 'bit out there' category), i like movies with action. war stories are a big hit. anything with eye-candy. if i'm going to invest 2+ hours of my life to sitting down and watching a movie, it's gotta have eye-candy!
cross-stitching, writing, drawing and painting, journaling, some bead work... thanks to the encouragement of several wonderful people here on swap-bot, i have tried to make atcs. they are getting better... and i figure if i practice enough, they'll get even better. and thanks to dana for convincing me to make a scrapbook. i am now hooked thank you very much. ;-) i have decided that i probably shouldn't undertake anymore hobbies right now because i'm running out of time in the day.
i'm still trying to work out exactly what an inchie is and zentangles. they look really interesting; i just haven't tried to make one yet.
angels, fairies, butterflies, dragons, wizards, coffee, tea, chocolate (white and milk... I'm not fond of dark chocolate at all) ,magnets, writing paper, notecards, journals, pens, postcards, quotes, interesting facts, bookmarks, altered matchboxes, altered pill bottles (i never knew you could do that until a friend sent me one), handmade items, stickers, anything that smells like vanilla or cinnamon, candles, crossword puzzles, sudoku (i am addicted!), all colors of the rainbow (although if i had to pick a favorite, i'd say purple and any shade of blue)... the list goes on & on. if you aren't sure about something, just ask.
i like to relax with a good book. i enjoy creating things. i like to see things other people have made. i enjoy writing letters (a lot of my swaps are in that theme). i like meeting new people and learning new things. i enjoy a lot of things. i don't offend easily. pretty much anything goes.
