I am 42 year old female. I have been married for 24 years, to my high school sweet-heart. We have lived from Hawaii to Germany and in between, thanks to my husband's Army service. I have a 23 year old son and 19 year old daughter. I love to scrapbook, sew, garden and cook. We recently took in my daughter's one year old Chi-Weenie.(a dog that is part Chihuahua and part Dachshund)Her name is Betty. She keeps me very busy. I have recently started participating with Postcrossings, a postcard exchange site.
I love country, classic rock and oldies. I got hooked on country when we lived in Germany and the only radio station that we had was Armed Forces Network. They played blocks of different types of music. Country was on during the day when I would have the radio on and doing my housework. I love the older music from when I was young. My husband surprised me by taking me to an REO Speedwagon concert. He has also taken me to see Movin'Out, the musical written by Billy Joel. Of course, currently, Momma Mia, with all of the ABBA music, is in the movie theatre. I also like music from the 50's and 60's.
I am an avid reader. One of my favorite books is The Da Vinci Code, by Dan Brown. I enjoy a variety of authors, such as, Patricia Cromwell, James Patterson, Nicholas Sparks, Jodi Picoult and Nora Roberts. I will read just about anything and go through about 15 books a month.(sleeping issues)
I am hooked on a few reality tv shows. I love and I do mean love, The Deadliest Catch, Survivor and The Amazing Race. I like The Unit and The Office. I use to be addicted to Law and Order, but don't really watch it anymore since Jerry Orbach died. I like John Stewart's Daily Show and I like to watch Glenn Beck. I am a CNN groupie.
I am a beginner scrapbooker. I would also classify myself as a beginner with my sewing machine. I can crochet simple things and have made my share of blankets. I don't know how to read patterns and would like to learn. I would also like to learn to knit.
My favorite color is pink, soft pinks not anything bright. My least favorite color is gray. I like anything botanical. I would like to have flower seeds to plant next spring. I love old things. I collect pottery, Hull and McCoy. I also collect dishes by Homer Laughlin, especially sugar bowls and platters. I have a few pieces of crackle glass, but they are harder for me to find. One of favorite things to eat is anything with pecans....especially if chocolate and caramel are involved. I love any candy that my husband classifies as rubber. This includes licorice, jelly beans anything gummy. He buys me things like these as special treats. My husband and I recently joined Postcrossing, hoping to gather a collection from around the world and accross our country. We like something written on them from the sender. I am starting to build a scrapbooking materials collection. I am needing stickers or little things for making pages. If any experienced scrapbooker wants to send a sample of something that I could learn to make, for a page, that would be great. I consider myself a decent cook and would enjoy any recipes. I prefer teas to coffees. My dislikes are pretty simple....I detest anything strawberry flavored, anything vulgar, anything that smells like smoke.
I had a few really bad experiences with the swaps last year. I stopped participating all together, but I really enjoyed it and miss it. I would like to give it another try and hopefully have better experiences. I realize that I may not have swapped for sometime, but I can't imagine not living up to my previous scores. I am only adding this "update" to explain my inactivity, incase someone is reading my profile to decide if I may participate in a swap.
