Urban Crafter who likes modern looks and clean lines. Favorite colors: hard to limit! I have lots of silver, deep red, black and white, soft greens, any shade of blue. But I welcome all colors - no discrimination :) Currently into: paper crafts, especially collage, repurposed items, altered items, making charms, beading, working with wire (teaching myself to make jewelry, also playing around with abstract wired things and garland), photoshop and digital photography, major ribbon addict, scrapbook, rubber stamps. Have a soft spot for all things vintage. Not really into cute or kawaii things but some of it is fun. Also into cooking (need good recipies, all kinds!) and sewing (beginner level, but love to think of the possibilities!). Basically, I like to make things - it's soothing.
Likes: trinkets and charms for art projects, interesting buttons, design and decor, fun novelties, unusual or artistic rubber stamps, Staz-On ink pads in black or any color, interesting inks for stamping, fortunes from fortune cookies, vintage anything, unusual game pieces for art projects, stripes, retro, art deco, machine age, keys, writing pens, things to alter, unusual ribbon, thin ribbon or string for wrapping things, measuring tape (old fashioned yellow and new ones in different colors), hanging out with my dog (I have a rescue mutt named Lucky), exploring. Craft tools and supplies are my weakness - gently used is a-ok! Love tote bags of all kinds (helps me pretend that I'm organized). Some of my recent favorite brands/styles for crafty things are 7 Gypsies, Ranger inks, Tim Holtz, Paper Source, old pins and jewelry from thrift stores. Surprises are wonderful, anything is appreciated, and I can always find a use for things.
Dislikes: Coconuts, Disney stuff.
Collects: All kinds of old keys, rubber stamps - especially vintage, all kinds of writing pens, foreign coins, unusual, foreign or older game pieces.
Would jump up and down for: subway tokens, vintage printer blocks, altered charms, old typewriter keys, vintage hardware (hinges, keys, cabinet handles, stove knobs, unusual doo hickies), old tape measures I can cut up and use for altering projects, coins or trinkets from other countries, a DIY kit of a craft you like, a sample or just a list of some of your favorite craft supplies or tools (brand names, etc) and why you like them, craft books or magazines you no longer need, Milky Babies from the UK (yummmm).
Personal: Married to a great guy who likes to see me tinker with ideas. No kids. One dog named Lucky. Live in SF. Love the idea of swapping - both the giving and receiving. Who knows what inspirations will come through the mail!
Recently obsessed with salvage art, asemblage, altered charms, altered containers. I like to glue pieces of random junk together to form found art (a fancy name for new junk?) I can look at vintage door knobs, hardware parts, and old games for hours. Love photography and photo manipulation, paper crafts of all sorts (I'm Japanese-American so I grew up with a huge box of origami). Rubber stamping, especially vintage stamps. Teaching myself to sew - any helpful hints are greatly appreciated. Interested in recycled/repurposed things. I like making matchboxes, collage and getting messy with inks and paint.
Crafts, jazz, and dogs come to mind. And GREAT sales :) I love to go hunt for things (as in stuff, not bears). Favorite movie: Cinema Paradiso. Favorite books: For fiction, I like books that take you on a journey through another person's life. Past favorite reads include I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (Maya Angelou), The Corrections (Jonathan Franzen), A Personal Matter (Kenzaburo Oe). For non-fiction, how to craft books/inspirational art books are usually laying around the house everywhere you look. I'm also a bit of a burgeoning history buff so books about different eras and events are a favorite. Current favorite songs: Take Me As I Am (Mary J Blige), Stoned Soul Picnic (New York Voices) but like to listen to a variety of music. I'm a gemini so the interests jump around quite a bit. Love seeing other people's creative efforts - regardless of skill or style. It's just fun to see what others like to make. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day...
