Let me know if you]'d like to join my group Sewing and Machine Embroidery. We will be doing some fun swaps once we get a few more members.
If you don't receive a swap from me, PLEASE let me know. I usually have my swaps ready to go even before partners are assigned (unless it is a profile-based swap) and I will resend if it gets lost in the mail. Also, I rate my swaps right away, and would appreciate it if you could rate me when you receive something from me! If you are missing a rating from me, please let me know.
My join date is in 2010 but I have ratings from before that - I joined as tere1998 back in 2008 or so, but I needed a break, so I deleted my account after all my swaps were completed. I had all "5" ratings. When I came back a couple of years later, I was not able to log in with my old name, so I chose a new one. I managed to get the 2 accounts combined.
I have a wonderful son and a granddaughter, and work as a programmer. I've been sewing since I was 12 and love all kinds of crafts. I have an African Grey parrot named Barkley and a pug named Pork Chop. We have since changed his name to Tooty Pete, cuz, well, obvious reasons ha.
The Meyers Briggs personality test says I'm in INTJ, which means I'm introverted, think of things in abstract ways, value logic over feelings and am obsessive about planning and organizing.
Basically, I love to be alone with my books and my art supplies. Large groups of people zap my energy and make me run for the door. Or at least know where it is at all times.
I don't watch much TV... I prefer books to TV most of the time.My favorite book of all time is Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. I also love Pat Conroy (Prince of Tides). Brandon Sanderson writes great sci-fi, too.
You can find me on Goodreads here.
Shows I have watched/loved include Hannibal, Dexter, Teachers, Sex In The City, The Good Wife, Sherlock, Community, The Good Fight, Six Feet Under, Westworld, Sense8, House of Cards.
I love nerdy crafts, sewing, hand/machine embroidery, paper crafts, zentangles, art journaling, photography and ATCs. I have made quilts, dresses and all kinds of clothes, but lately I make stuffies/dolls/smaller projects more than clothes.
Dotee dolls are super fun, and I always look for new ideas to make them unique. I also love making stuffed dolls and animals, mixed media canvases, art journal pages and ATCs. Some of my obsessions are Tim Holtz stuff, watercolor crayons and gesso. Always working to improve my Copic and watercolor skills as well.
Lately, I've been working on getting better at hand embroidery. I have an embroidery machine and love that look, too. Hand embroidery and wool felt just feels sooooooo nice.
I like pretty much a little of every kind of music but I listen to 80's music, Beatles, progressive rock, garage bands, Morrissey, some pop, some country.
I like 21 Pilots, Garth Brooks, Yanni, (80s) Queensryche, Ed Sheeran, Alanis Morissette, Danny Elfman, Enya, Loreena McKennitt, The Piano Guys, Porcupine Tree, Rob Thomas.... I know, I'm all over the place :-)
A few of my favorite movies are: The Princess Bride, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Scrooged, American Psycho, Dangerous Beauty, Star Wars, The Matrix, Fight Club, The Truth About Cats and Dogs, Caddyshack, and ANYTHING with Mads Mikkelsen.
Here are some things I love:
Ok, so some things I don't like:
If you do not receive a rating from me, please let me know. I rate everything when I get it, unless I don't know which swap the package was for.
Also, if you do not receive a swap from me, please let me know so I can resend it. I'm not a flaker!
Let me know if you'd like to do a private swap for ATCs or dotee dolls!
“The only people I would care to be with now are artists and people who have suffered: those who know what beauty is, and those who know what sorrow is: nobody else interests me.” ― Oscar Wilde, "De Profundis"
You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them. - Ray Bradbury
“The only way out of the labyrinth of suffering is to forgive.” ― John Green, Looking for Alaska
By William Ernest Henley
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.
I much prefer postcards sent "naked" and with stamps - that is most of the fun of getting them in my opinion!
I love pretty much all kinds of postcards except religious ones. Don't worry about offending me, either! I love risque, dark, creepy, and strange cards! Touristy cards are fine, too. There aren't many postcards I don't like :)
