Greetings from Missouri!
My name is Dottie but one of my most favorite names is my swap-bot name, perkl8r.
As many of you may know, I am a Christian, which means that I have accepted Jesus as my savior by confessing my sins to Him and asking Him to come into my life. I believe that He died for my sins and therefore paid my sin debt. I also believe that the grave could not hold Him! I don't know how I would get thru all the things going on in this world today without Him!
If you should ever have any trouble with any of my packages, especially postage, PLEASE let me know. Some time ago I had to send an "I'm Sorry!" gift to some one for a small shortage of postage on a package I sent her. I need to know if things go wrong, PM me....because I'm not happy if my partners are not happy!
My husband and I have been married 39 years in March of 2011. We have two grown daughters. Our youngest daughter and her family, which includes our 3 grandsons, live with us. Boy, do we love those boys!
I love quilting, collecting buttons, and fabric, and since I ride the bus to and from work every day I get lots of reading done.
My favorite colors to quilt with are the blue/green combinations, like teal, aqua, turquoise etc. I also like pastels, especially pink, and purple too. I like bright colors too, including red, but red is the hardest for me to buy...just can't seem to find that many reds prints that turn my head. I want to thank some very kind swappers for sending me red prints....I love them! I guess I'm looking for them in the wrong places when I go shopping.
My favorite colors to wear are aqua, teal, blues, blacks and light pink.
I have pierced ears and love earrings, with silver my favorite.
I teach sewing to some of the neighborhood children, and chocolate is a staple at every class.
RATING FOR SWAPS: Hey, I totally believe in spreading around the "hearts" when rating my partners. Hearts are free, they are not rationed, so if you take the time to read my profile, or send me extra's, you can count on getting a heart from me. Oh, and I like to get what I give....I've never turned down a heart!
I allow myself to be sad when I send extra's and special things to swappers and then they rate with a five and say things like they loved the package....but don't give a heart. Maybe I'm setting myself up for a let down when I go to the trouble to include extra goodies expecting a heart, and then don't get one. SPOILED, that is what I am! And I need to learn I can't please everyone.....even though I try really hard. Even at my mature age I guess I still have a lot of KID in me!
I love chocolate, especially chocolate covered raisins, and dark chocolates (not too crazy about nuts messing up my chocolate, besides, I'm nutty enough as it is)..love fishing with my grandsons....Avon, especially Timeless, Night Magic...oh, and did I mention the grandsons?!
Anytime you want to send things for the boys, I sure won't turn them down. Let me thank you in advance for thinking of them! They love to take turns opening my swap-bot packages.
My grandsons are 11, 9, and 6. Mateo loves to fish and won his first fishing trophy in May of 2010.
Felix, the middle grandson, is into robotics, Lego’s and video games.
Felipe, the oldest, loves watching movies with grandma and grandpa and collecting Yu Gi Oh cards and Pokey-mon stuff. He also likes comic books.
--we LOVE estate auctions where I get quilts, sewing supplies, fabric, books, and lots of other sewing/quilting related items
Authors I like:
Francine Rivers, Janette Oke, Grace Livingston Hill, Phyllis Whitney, Dorothy Eden, Victoria Holt, Daphne Du Maurier, Madeleine Brent also known as Peter O'Donnell who just passed away last year
I like finding new Christian authors, and especially enjoy Christian romances.
Love Castle on Monday nights, I like Deep Space Nine, really all of the Star Treks, Firefly (no longer on TV...sad face, so we bought the season...happy face), Stargate Atlantis, and my husband and I love Antique's Road Show.
We like to end our weekends by watching Masterpiece Theatre on TV19 on Sunday nights. We love Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes and have all of that collection.
I recently joined some new groups and love them all.
For my fellow swappers in the:
“Theme in a Ziploc bag group”, (or any other swap partners for that matter) I love strips of bright colored100% cotton fabric from 1 ½” wide up to whatever width you want to send, and as short as 7 ½” for quilt blocks I’m hooked on making.
I love handmade-or-purchased bookmarks, home-made or purchased book covers-especially with handles,
magnetic picture frames for my metal cubical walls at work
and hand made glass bead jewelry, especially dangly earrings.
I always need address labels too.
I use a little phone bag everyday and often switch it for washing. My phone measures 2”X4”X1/2” thick, and I love little handles on my phone bags.
“Coin Purses” group: I’d enjoy getting coin purses that might be good for my grandsons too like little animals, or boy-subjects. I love home-made zippered fabric bags of all sizes for use in my bus bag for work everyday
My husband and I love old black and white movies, including Charlie Chan, Topper, and the Thin Man.
We have all of the Anne of Green Gables series with Meagan Fellows as Anne.
We are collecting all the Little House on the Prairie series as well.
I love Phantom of the Opera with Gerard Butler as the Phantom.
We have lots of the Shirley Temple movies too. I like too many other movies to mention.
We rediscovered the Invisible Man movies but do not own any copies of these old black & white classics. Our favorite is the Invisible Secret Agent
-thanks to all my wonderful partners who have been sending me pretty straight pins, I have lots more now than I'll ever use, but never enough needles, especially embroidery needles
-looking for hand embroidery patterns, not too many options in my area
-if I had the choice, I'd rather not receive holiday fabric, but if I do get some I give it to my friend Debbie at church, she's happy to get and use it..I rarely make holiday specific items, but she does
--- I'd choose silver over gold (especially ijewelry)....I wear earrings every day and I like dangly earrings but don't usually like them longer than 2 inches
--- I'd choose blues & greens & purples and pinks (in that order) over any other colors
--- I'd choose floral prints & stripes and sometimes polka dots (polka dots are ok as long as I don’t have to wear them), but NEVER plaids, plaids and I don’t’ get along!
-------if wondering what kind of animal print to send me, FISH are always a good choice, birds are a good second choice----they will make me smile!
-----I believe in regifting, recycling, and reusing, so please do not be offended if I regift an item you might have sent me...but do not worry about me rating you badly If you happen to send me a version of something that is not my favorite....if it meets the swap requirement, you'll get a 5 from me, and if you send extra item's, you'll also get a heart. I look at items that are not my favorites as opportunities to make someone else happy by regifting or as something to send as an extra in one of my swaps. It has worked out really well for me.
...I have decided I will not be joining any more swaps where the requirements to join allow swappers with rates lower than 4.8....too high a risk of flakers
...I've also come to the conclusion that swappers who don't rate and don't respond to e-mails are not fun to swap with and I may decide not to deal with them....on that note, PLEASE contact me if you sent me something that I did not acknowledge receiving....I'm old, forgetful and have a lot on my plate and would hate to be guilty of becoming a non-rater. I really appreciate reminders so don't feel bad about contacting me!
-----------I try to always send extra goodies on each swap because I'm happy when my swap-bot partners are happy. Also, if you don't get a swap from me within the reasonable time or I don't rate you in a timely manner please contact me...I always aim to please and I always aim for a heart.
...I don't care much for the skull print fabric that is popular...however, I did buy a little so I could give it as "extra's" to partners who do like it
...not a fan of peace signs (BIG fan of peace, just don't care for the commonly used sign)
...I'm also not too crazy about the brown & pink, and brown & blue prints that are also popular now. I did buy some to send to my swap-bot partners who do like them because I'm always aiming to please.
------not into ATC or stuffies, or matchboxes or Dottee dolls
I keep a spreadsheet of all my partners and records on when and if they receive and rate me for a package, if they've sent a package to me and when I send to them and what I send. I've been known to contact partners regarding all of these issues.
--I shop for fabric and sewing supplies at Joann’s, Rustic Yearnings, Hancock’s, and I rarely buy fabric at Wal-Mart My favorite and the most expensive, of course, is Rustic Yearnings because they carry the 1930 reproduction prints that I love.
WISH LIST: a new car (hehehe) not really because I couldn't afford the taxes, American Jane fabric, 1930 reproduction fabric, fat quarters in teal, turquoise, aqua etc....more fabric, and more fabric....vintage buttons....anything embroidered that I can use for labels on my quilts and projects....
Batik fabrics, Oriental prints, toile prints, small print florals, never plaids, plaids and I do NOT get along!
I also say I'll publicize if you flake, so....
