*****I do not have access to the computer over the weekends so please do not think I am ignoring you. I will do my best to always answer e-mails in a timely manner.*****
My husband and I have been married 37 years in March of 2009. We have two grown daughters. Our youngest daughter and her family, which includes our 3 grandsons, live with us. Boy, do we love those boys! I love quilting, collecting buttons, and fabric, and since I ride the bus to and from work every day I get lots of reading done.
I enjoy books by Christian authors like Al & JoAnna Lacy, and grew up on Grace Livingston Hill novels. I like historic romances, as well. I stay away from novels that get too detailed in the bedroom, and have been known to stop reading them even if the plot is very good.
I like Deep Space Nine, really all of the Star Treks, Firefly (no longer on TV...sad face, so we bought the season...happy face), Stargate Atlantis, and my husband and I love Antique's Roadshow.
We also like Sherlock Holmes movies, but our favorite versions have Jeremy Brett as Sherlock.
My favorite colors to quilt with are the blue/green combinations. I also like pastels, especially pink. Purple and other bright colors are starting to turn my head, and I'd love to collect more of them.
My favorite colors to wear are teal, blues, blacks and light pink.
I have pierced ears and love earrings.
I have a collection of reb/black/white fabrics for a couple quilts I've been working on.
I teach sewing to some of the neighborhood children, and chocolate is a staple at every class.
My husband and I love old black and white movies, including Charlie Chan, Topper, and the Thin Man. We have all of the Anne of Green Gables series with Meagan Fellows as Anne. We are collecting all the Little House on the Prairie series as well. I love Phantom of the Opera with Gerard Butler as the Phantom. We have lots of the Shirley Temple movies too. I like too many other movies to mention.
When I was much younger, I collected Troll Dolls but ran out of room in the house, so those are starting to go elsewhere.
I love to collect unusual and vintage buttons, but am sometimes very selfish about sharing them.
I love 30/40's fabrics, and have only a small stash of them, some of which are reproduction prints.
For fun I often call my sewing room my "studio", and one of my favorite sewing instructors in Marti Michelle (spelling?)
I have my fabric stored in bins by colors and recently added a drawer in my studio just for swap-bot cuts of fabric I've collected.
I'm not into zodiac stuff, witchcraft, or the like.
I love cats and dogs equally.
I have a collection of bug and critter (especially fish) print fabrics I use on quilts for the grandsons.
I collect anything embroidered, and often recycle the embroidered parts as labels on the quilts I buy and make. (pillow cases, hankies, doilies..etc)
--I have been known to add glass beads to my sewing projects, and any that I collect I might share with my daughter who makes jewelry.--
I have received some wonderful hand made goodies from different swap-bot partners, and just wanted to comment on how much I love them. I use every bookmark anyone has made for me. I have a cute coaster on my desk at work sent to me by another swapper...and a bookcover in bright colors that I also love! Thank you buddies!
I love totebags and use one every day when riding the bus to and from work.
besides collecting fabric and buttons,...I love chocolate, especially chocolate covered raisins, and dark chocolates (not too crazy about nuts messing up my chocolate, besides, I'm nutty enough as it is)..love scented candles, but would rather just smell them than burn them...I like Tinkerbell.....fishing with my grandsons....Avon, especially Timeless, Night Magic...oh, and did I mention the grandsons?....our family plays Scrabble all the time. We also play games geared more for the grandsons.
Anytime you want to send things for the boys, I sure won't turn it down, and I know they'd love to receive it. They take turns opening my swap-bot packages for me. Their ages are 10, 8, and 4 1/2.
-if I had the choice, I'd rather not receive holiday fabric, but if I do get some, I give it to my friend Debbie at church, she's happy to get and use it..I rarely make holiday specific items, but she does
--- I'd take diet Pepsi over diet Coke
--- I'd choose silver over gold (especially in jewelry
--- I'd choose blues & greens & purples over any other colors
--- I'd choose floral prints & stripes over plaid or polka dots but am beginning to change my mind about polka dots------I broke down and purchased some dotted fabric so I could swap with my swap-bot buddies...so you might see me send you some polka dots even though in the past they have not been my favorites
--------if wondering what kind of animal print to send me, FISH are always a good choice, birds are a good second choice----they will make me smile!
--Joann's stores....they are like a magnet...wish I owned stock in them...with as much time and money as I spend there (not really that much money but a lot for my budget) Shopping at Joann's is my one big treat for myself when I've been a good girl, and even when I haven't!
--Batik fabrics, never enough on hand, and so many beautiful patterns to choose from
--Eqyptian Print fabric, I have one piece in particular I bought several years ago and now I'm sorry I didn't get more of it when I had the chance (and it's almost gone now)
--Oriental Print Fabric, some color combinations turn me off, but the basic, red, black, blue, golds are great
--I love Pan Flute music and my oldest daughter is learning to play the Pan Flute --I love bag pipe music too (that's not really a new passion, just one I wanted to be sure to mention)
...but I'm not into this new batch of skull fabric that is so popular...however, I did buy a little so I could swap it with partners who do like it
...I'm also not too crazy about the brown & pink, and brown & blue prints that are also popular now. I did buy some to send to my swap-bot partners who do like them because I'm always aiming to please.
------not into ATC or stuffies, or matchboxes
-----------I try to always send extra goodies on each swap, because I'm happy when my swap-bot partners are happy. Also, if you don't get a swap from me within the reasonable time, or I don't rate you in a timely manner please contact me...I always aim to please and I always aim for a heart.
I also say I'll publicize if you flake, so....
