UPDATE:
I do not know where to start. My daughter broke her femur several months ago. She had to have a plate put in. Luckily it did not affect her hip or knee replacement. She went from the hospital to rehab. Last week, we had to bring her home, because insurance would not pay any more. She can only put 25% of her weight on her leg. I have been going back and forth between helping her and my mother. I have gotten behind on some swas. Please bear with me. I WILL NOT FLAKE. I will be late.
ATTENTION: mystery readers. Jefferson Bass has a new book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Check it out Itis great. Just finished Patricia Cornwell's "Post Mortuary". It is the old Cornwell back again. I couldn't put the book down until I finished.
I really enjoyed hosting those swaps. I hope the people who joined enjoyed them. Thank you!
Nov. 6: Mom is now walking with a walker. Problem is that she forgets she has to use a walker. We are really thankful this Thanksgiving. thanks to everyone who mentioned Mom in their swaps and thanks for the prayers.
I taught public school for 32 years: 8th grade math and science; High School Algebra 1. I retired June 13, 2007. I'm starying with my parents to help care for my mother who fell in October of 2007 and had a hip replacement. She, also, has Alzheimers. Someone has to be with her 24/7. Note: It has now been a year since mom came home from rehab. She is doing great! Praise the Lord! She is using a walker and can go just about anywhere. She just forgets to use it. Someone still has to be with her 24/7, but I am enjoying the time with her. She is still agreeable and loves to crack jokes.
I love country music - especially the Oldies. My favorites are Loretta Lynn and Charley Price,
I love mystery books. I adore Kathy Reichs, Jefferson Bass, Patricia Cornwell (like her older books better than newest ones (please do not send any. I have all of their books) I like Judith Tarr's books.
Favorite Movies of all times: Gone with the Wind, all of the Star Trek movies with the original cast, Star Wars, any movie with Harrison Ford. Like the later movies of John Wayne (especially the comedies with Maureen O'Hara).
My favorite television shows: NCIS, CSI, Bones, Ciminial Minds, Cold Case, Without a Trace, V, Burn Notice, Leverage. Love to watch reruns of Star Trek and those listed above. I want them to start showing reruns of Monk.
My favorite crafts are crocheting, knitting, needlepoint, cross-stitch, making ATCs, recycling cards into postcards and ATCs. I love to try new things- that is why I like Swapbot.
I like pandas, cats, rainbows, animals of all kinds, insects (I know that these are animals, but some people don't refer to them as such).
Actually I like just about everything. I love receiving mail!!!!!!!!!
I would like to explain the three 3s that I received. The first one is for an ATC that I made. I am not an artisit that can draw or paint. I rely on using pictures and stickers. I don't just "slap on a sitcker" and let that me it. This swap was for St. Patrick's Day. I gave it a lot of thought. I found a background what was white with green stripes going vertical. I found some stickers: glittery shamrock with eyes, and Snoopy and Woodstock dressed for St. Patrick's Day. I looked in magazines for something else that would work. I found some St. Patrick's Day balloons. They had sayings on them. I cut them out and used the above to make the ATC. My patrner gave the 3, because she said I didn't follow swap rules by using only stickers. I told her that they were stickers and picture that I had cut out. Did not make a difference.
The next 3 was given because my partner said it was mailed 7 days after due date. I told her that I put it in the mailbox on June 2. She said that I lied because the postmark was June7. Let me explain "put in mailbox". When the swap is finished and ready to mail, I put it in the mailbox here at the house. I mark them sent on Swapbot. My father picks up the mail from the mailbox and takes it to the Post Office. I do not go to the Post Office except on special occassions because I stay with my mother. Why it took so long, I don't know. I believe that the time between June 2 and June 7 includes the weekend. We have a small postoffice. I am sorry about this.
The third ATC was on a loteria card. One these you put a number, name, and picture of the object. I did this. My partner did not like how I did the card. She stated that 3 stickers was not an ATC. The loteria called for a Nigro man. I found a sticker and 2 pictures of boys (little men) for my picture. I responded to her that I had meet the requirements and whether she liked it or not that I should get a 5.

Just to let you know I will be sending out your 3 Peter Pan ATC this week with something for extra for the wait. Thank you for being very nice about waiting until I moved to get them out to you again. Happy New Years :)
Oh my gosh. I just saw how many swaps that you've done. That's amazing. I started off doing 10-20 ATC swaps a month, but now with school and the baby I barely have time to do one in a month. Hopefully when she gets older we can do it together! Happy Swapping!
Brittany
If I remember correctly there was flag day in there in June also. So your card could have easily been put out Friday and dad got it and did not get to the open PO till the Tuesday..
Or he could have spaced it out, like all humans do at times. Sorry you got a three for a card.
Hi there - I'm your partner for a current swap, and I just wanted to echo what others have said about the low ratings that you've received. They sound really unfair. I also received a 3 recently, but luckily it was a misunderstanding and was soon changed ... it felt awful to have at the time though. I hope you don't have any more incidents of unfair ratings in the future.
I am sorry about your 3's as well. I hand make all mine, I keep all that is sent I do not trade or pass on, regardless of how they look. I put alot into my ATC's. AND YES< alot of people do take this way too serious. I thought this was for fun, I do not claim to be a perfectionist, and I did not major in ART, but I do love Paper Crafts. If I was getting paid or selling my stuff, then that would be different. The way I see it, If I have to buy or sell then I would rate accordingly. I also can not afford alot, but I ALWAYS send a little something. I do not care what the rules say, but I think everyone who sends alittle something deserves a HEART. This stuff cost money, and if you are in alot of swaps, then it adds up. The only thing that I will pass on are "stickers", I try not to use them. Good luck in your other swaps. God Bless.
Forgot to mention that your cat looks like my Ms Fluffykins who passed away last year
I'm your partner for the Postcard swap this round.I feel for you with the ratings.I have a 3 also which I thought unfair. Some of these people are way too serious.I thought that it was about FUN.I'm pretty new at this too and its like no one takes that into consideration...
Hey, how are you ? this is Nicole the host of Quick mini stuffed animal swap, just wanted to say thanks for joining, sorry that you got rated 3's ..I read why and I think that its not fair.. stuff happens and I myself are new to ATC's so I don't know what people would or would not like.... and the post office screwed me around so many times I can't count... but I feel for your mom and even though you dont know me im sorry you are going through this, I have the same thing going on with my garndmother who lives upstairs. She was like a second mother to me and has full blown dementia and alztimers as well, we have a 24 hour nurse but before that I would help in taking care of her, its really stressfull but hang in there!
Well today is the day for my last opening of gifts. Thank you for the Koala bear for Plush Animal Lover's Day. I enjoyed this swap. Happy Wednesday! :)
Opened up the "Wear Something Gaudy Day" gift. Oh My! Did you make that? I also wanted to let you know I opened the candy corn. I shared with a friend that was having a bad day. Thanks for my goodies! One left. :)
