About Me

3.6.19: Shuttering the ol' profile for awhile; got some life-livin' to do.

My watchword is whimsy. I'm a 39 year old newly married (June 2, 2018) Houston, TX resident. Recently lost my beloved Radar, Boston terrier on 7/31/18. He was a great friend and companion and my heart is broken. I am mostly here to swap postcards, but I may sometimes join other swaps if they capture my fancy.

Other things to know about me:

  • progressive politically
  • board game geek (perpetually in need of update)
  • reader, writer, editor, singer
  • rarely takes herself too seriously
  • some people call me a hipster, but it’s just a coincidence that I like what hipsters like

Things I’m Really Into For the Moment:

Red Bull Purple (any energy drink that's purple), The Myths and Legends Podcast, The History Chicks Podcast, True Crime Garage, Love Nikki clicky game, avoiding writing, Posh beauty products

Swapping Philosophy:

It is important to rate appropriately and follow through on one’s commitments, even if it’s just a postcard. It becomes less fun when those who feel differently somehow wiggle out of their obligation to which they chose to commit.

Swapping Preferences:

Postcards: Naked, stamped with real stamps, and non-tourist is preferred; handmade is always welcome unless prohibited in the swap details; if the swap requires multiple cards in an envelope then please send as per the swap requirements

I always include on items I sent out the date, the name of the swap, and my username. I recommend you do the same. I sometimes include weather, tunes, mood. LMK if those are important for me to write on a card I send to you.

Don’t Know What To Write?

I love to hear about unusual names you’ve heard/seen/read; tell me about what you would be patron saint of if you were beatified; write me a piece of flash fiction or haiku based on the front of the card; bullet journal your day; list what you ate/drank today; what is on your shopping list?; what are the last 5 songs you’ve listened to?; what podcasts are you really into?; what is your substitute cuss word when littles are around?; tell me a ghost story or legend from your area; if all else fails, copy out a quote or poem that you think might catch my interest.

Comment: Great postcard! I love receiving each other's first attempts at new crafts -- I think it's one of the gifts we can give each other, encouragement to try new things. And my favourite bird is probably the nuthatch, just because I think they are beautiful to look at! We occasionally get them on our bird feeder in the back garden.

Wow, that postcard arrived quick! It was super fun and had way more people than I expected. Turns out there are a lot of Postcrossers in San Diego. There were almost 30 people at the meetup. :D Everything was so organized and got boxes to put their cards in to get signed. We must have signed at least a few hundred cards each.

Thank you fro the Alaska Postalette! It is such a cool thing! It's informative & coulourful & totally made me want to go there, also because you seem to have done a lot there, very exciting! (I remember this sort of things existed in India till at least 2002 ... & were called "Inland lettercards" - they were fixed price within India. Now extinct!) Thanks again, this was really fun! Awesome RAK!
