I seem to be having a lot of trouble with Canada Post recently, so please let me know if you don't receive something from me, I'll always resend!
Hi! I'm Zilliah Bailey! It's not my real name, but it's my internet/rave/other name and I sort of like it better.
I'm an undergrad math student and I spend most of my spare time reading, making crafts, sleeping, or raving. I have just discovered that I own approximately equal volumes of yarn and books. When I grow up I am going to be a battle maiden with a BATTLE KITTEN.
I tend to update my profile obsessively, sorry it's so long :P
I love to do private swaps, particularly if I could make you something and you would send me craft supplies! You can see examples of things I've made in the links above. Private ATC swaps are also great. PM me if you're interested!
I have dreadlocks! Scarves are always useful for tying them back, and I really love hand-painted silk scarves. My head's quite a bit bigger from dreads, so make sure it's long! I don't need hats because I make them myself :)
I have my lobes pierced three times in each ear, the bottom ones are stretched to 2G (but will probably go to 0G or 00G eventually). I went through a phase of obsessively buying body jewellery, so I have quite a bit of it hanging around, and happy to trade it!
PLEASE NOTE! I'm shipping from CANADA so things will take longer to arrive if you don't live here. I usually wait at least a month before contacting people, and it would be super if you could do the same; Canada Post can be ridiculously slow and there isn't anything I can do about that (except complain). That said, please let me know if something doesn't arrive, and I will of course resend (Canada Post manages to loose stuff too....sigh.)
Fiber crafts. This includes crochet, YARN BOMBING!, sewing, felting, tapestry, knitting, spinning, and I plan to learn lace tatting.
Street art is excellent! I don't do much at the moment besides yarn bombing, but I'm working on some stencils to try out, and I want to try doing some multimedia tags next.
I didn't like ATCs at first, but now I've sort of figured them out a little more, and am ADDICTED. Right now I really like making multimedia collages. My flickr has pictures of most of the ATCs I've made, and I ramble about them on my blog. I LOVE to get ATCs made from unusual materials. I am at the point where I'm starting to weed out some that don't quite fit my tastes, so I am one of those evil people who retrade them - sorry!
I tend to go through obsessive phases of liking crafts, right now I am addicted to rubber stamps, oh my goodness rubber stamps are so so wonderful. Other crafts I like are making kandi, beading, jewelry, polymer clay, drawing, and painting.
I like sewing but I have a really hard time starting sewing projects for some reason.
I rarely follow patterns for things or plan them ahead of time. This sometimes goes badly and I have to spend 6 hours untangling yarn o.<
I'd love to swap things I can make for things I can't, or craft supplies; handmade swaps are my favourite and I'm sooooo addicted to craft supplies. If there's stuff on my etsy, flickr, or ravelry that you like, I'll usually be happy to swap it or something similar.
In memory of whiteness - Kim Stanley Robinson
The fountainhead - Ayn Rand
The ordinary princess - M. M. Kaye
There are lots (I read a lot), but I can't remember them all; in general I really like well thought-out retellings of fairy tales, and science fiction that focuses on social ...reaction? to technology. I also love kids books! Diana Wynne Jones is possibly my favourite author. I've recently discovered Nnedi Okorafor, who writes marvellous African science fiction!
I will reread some books until they fall apart and then I will buy a new copy and read it. I'm pretty abusive to my favourite books, though I've gotten a bit better recently. But you can tell which ones are my favourites!
I also like to write stories.
-robots, dinosaurs, jellyfish, mushrooms, rainbows, books, mermaids
-post-apocalyptic/abandoned things, sugar, shiny things, floating cities in the sky (steampunk is cool, I also like cyberpunk)
-biohazard logos, (other warning logos are pretty excellent too. I also enjoy airplane emergency cards), circuit boards and circuit diagrams, power button logo (the circle with the line through the top)
-electric blue, hi-lighter yellow
-raving, dancing
-fairy wings, corsets, interesting clothes/outfits (I like cyber, raver, hippie, some goth fashion, and the sort of Japanese fashion in FRUiTS is amazing (NOT kawaii). Pixie hoodies are my current favourite. Bright colours are always excellent.)
-YARN
-unexpected materials, multimedia collage
(Any of those are great for ATC themes! hint hint)
Craft supplies! Particularly the ones below:
YARN! I'm a total yarn junkie...send me some nice yarn and I will love you forever. I particularly like multicoloured stuff (so long as it's a nice blend of colours), I tend to prefer blues/greens/purples (not necessarily together, but they can be!). I do like cheap yarn which I use for yarn bombing, but obviously I prefer lovely nice yarn....if I'm signed up for a yarn swap please send me nice (non-acrylic unless it's really pretty) yarn! I love Noro yarn and gorgeous handspun chunky things. Not sure if I have a favourite fiber yet...I really like the look of wool but it's a little scratchy so blends are nice. Super bulky has a special place in my heart :)
I'm learning to spin, so I'd loooove to get a pretty drop spindle! (I have one, but it's pretty basic.) And of course a spinning wheel :P I could send you all the yarn I made for a year! Or spin straw into gold?
I'd also love to get roving, dyed or undyed, carded or uncarded; you can give me wool cut right off a sheep if you want to! I'm also happy to get an equivalent amount of roving for yarn swaps, provided it's clean and the same weight (not size) as the yarn would be. I'd prefer animal fibers since I can dye them with food colouring!
Crochet and knitting notions are always handy. Split stitch markers are great as I can't make them as easily and I tend to loose them. I'm always on the lookout for more circular needles since there's just so many different ones.
Cards with envelopes are great, even cheap ones, since I use them for mailing ATCs (the cards helps to keep the ATC from being destroyed).
An alpaca.
Address labels! (With my address on them, not blank ones.)
Well-made ATCs! I generally prefer ones that are not collaged, or have more original bits. If you're looking for themes to make me, anything in the "I LOVE" section is pretty great, and I love fabric ATCs! I'd also like to get ones of cityscapes, particularly futuristic cities.
Rubber stamps! They are rad and I don't have very many! I'd especially like plants, people, unusual, or texture ones. My ULTIMATE DESIRE right this second is to get a bio-hazard rubber stamp! Or other warning symbols, but bio-hazard is my faaaaavourite. Unmounted or used is fine :) But no rubber stamps with phrases (unless they're unusual/interesting, but "Happy Birthday" is kind of useless to me), or holiday/event-themed, and I'm not really fond of cartoon-y stamps.
This sounds kind of weird, but I like a lot of the art on Magic cards, particularly the ones which are not deliberately gross monsters. So if you have spare ones floating around, I wouldn't mind a couple :)
Anything to do with: food/eating/cooking - including recipe cards (unless it's sugar), dogs, religion, scented stuff (I'm allergic-ish), perfume, anything that smells really strongly - including candles, holiday-themed things, sugar skulls/day of the dead
No rubber stamps with phrases (unless they're unusual/interesting, but "Happy Birthday" is kind of useless to me), or holiday/event-themed, and I'm not really fond of cartoon-y stamps..
I'm allergic to cats, pollen, dust, perfume, stuff like that.
Unless I've signed up for a swap for them, I'd prefer not to get inchies, matchbooks, FBs, or stickers.
Bad grammar. frown
If I haven't rated you, it's because I haven't received it yet. I check the mailbox pretty much every day because I'm obsessive like that, and I'm online almost every day for the same reason :)
I generally won't throw in extra stuff, I prefer to get hearts based on what I've done for the swap itself. You don't have to give me extras to get a heart from me, but I do give out hearts for nice extras.
I generally like to give hearts for swaps where it looks like you took the time to read my profile and made an effort to make something I'd like, OR if it looks like something you spent a long time working on, and put a lot of effort into. For example, I don't usually give hearts for ATCs that are simple collages....I'm much more likely to give them if you've included something handdrawn/painted, or a more thought-out collage that looks like it took time to put together. No offense intended, I just think that's what deserves a heart more.
For the swaps I host, I will ban people who don't fit the requirements, but please don't take it personally and it doesn't mean you can't sign up for other swaps I'm hosting. It's your responsibility to read the swap requirements!
If you've flaked on me, or in a swap I'm hosting, you will be banned from my swaps until it gets resolved. Here's the list:
@changingsky @midnightsun458 @Jesshens1125 @pygmydoyenne
I've been flaked on the following swaps :(
Please please let me know if it's been a while and you haven't received anything! I will resend! Be aware though that I am shipping from Canada, so if you're international give it time to arrive, I've had flat mail from the states take more than a month to arrive, and I usually wait at least that long to contact people if I haven't received anything.
I reuse packaging, and if I'm your partner for multiple swaps at the same time I'll put them in the same envelope (though I'll tell you which one's which).
