About Me

I update this page frequently, please don't forget to check the latest News section at the bottom to see what's new!

My swapping philosophy is that I swap the way I hope to be swapped with. I want each person I send something to, to feel like I cared and tried to make a connection. I feel that I've done a good job on a swap if I think that the other person will smile when they open their mail. It isn't about money, it's about thought.

I DO Re-gift, Up-cycle, and Recycle. Please don't be offended if you get an ATC or something similar from me and I used a card you sent to me for the background. ;)

I try to send out my swaps early, so If you haven't gotten something from me, please let me know. (Please note that I live on a Rural Route, so it takes longer for me to get my mail and have it delivered. If the post office says 3 days, expect 5-7.)

I want to swap recipes and handcrafted items. I've also discovered that I love naked postcards and ATCs.

I love clothing, accessories, and jewelry. I hate huge purses. I use re-usable shopping bags all the time. I have pierced ears.

I am a woman. I smoke cigarettes (but I try to air out all my swaps). I don't have any children or grandchildren. I am married. I have dogs. I am allergic to cats. I am a psychology student. I like tea, I don't like coffee (although sometimes I drink decaf if its flavored). I read tarot. I write poetry and non-fiction. I hate waste.

I collect Pez dispensers (NIB or near mint), viewmaster reels (any condition), and sealed Happy Meal toys. "Well, I think so, Brain, but if they called them sad meals then no one would buy them"- Pinky I have a working record player, ATARI 2600 and original Nintendo.

My handwriting is terrible. If you can't read it, send me your best guess and I'll translate-lol!

I'm terribly low tech in my life, except perhaps in the kitchen. I love kitchen gadgets, I have a rice cooker, stand mixer, deepfryer and crockpot that I use all the time. I think cell phones are bewildering, and I would rather talk on the phone than E-mail.

Allergies

I can die from food allergens. If you send me something edible PLEASE be sure it is clearly labeled. (In English)

Favorite Crafts

I craft: Cooking (and recipe creation), Canning (BWB and Pressure), sewing, Jewelry making, candlemaking, crochet, fused glass, mosiac, herbal items, recycled crafts, dreamcatchers, vegetable gardening, scrunchies.

I went halfway through a degree in Culinary Arts, worked in the restaurant industry for years and have food allergies (which is why I quit both my degree and working in restaurants). So, please, If you would like an Allergy-safe recipe for any food allergy, or recipes for other dietary restrictions, let me know. I would be happy to find or create one/some for you as a private trade.

I don't craft, but like: woodworking, lampworking, welding, chainmail, soap, vintage paper items, leatherwork, knit, quilting, embroidery, amigurimi.

I don't like: handmade cards, scrapbooking, sewing patterns, crossstich, hairbows, dolls/teddybears, angels, animal print items, button faeries, country style home decor.

Favorite Books

I read everything except for trashy romances: If I want to read or write smut, I will, I don't need to pretend that it has a plot. I write poetry and short fiction/non fiction.

Favorite Television

I don't watch TV.

Really. I'm not making it up.

Yes, that's why I have so much time to be in school full time, read, cook dinner every night, and do all these swaps. Well, that and we don't have kids...

We don't go to the movie theater, well, pretty much ever. If it isn't old or wasn't a book, I probably haven't seen it. We "rent" our movies from the library or the neighbors.

Latest News

STOMACH FLU. I had it, hubby got it, I got it again. 'Nuff said. It's been 2 weeks, but I'm back.

I am still playing catch up. I will also angel for people who've gotten flaked on in the swaps I hosted or find angels. Please continue to be patient with me ya'll? Thanks everyone for the patience. Swap bot has been a really great community! (I'm also trying to prep for court on the eating out incident...)

I am playing catch up on swaps I owe. I will send everything, I promise!

Comment: I received my beautiful package of gifts and started opening them already! I just adore the gifts I've seen so far--the fingerless gloves are incredibly cool, and I have already worn them. Your presentation is excellent, and the idea of incorporating each day's gift into a story is inspired. Thanks for a perfect package!
Response: The story was the hardest part, but I knew I had to use that Idea when I saw your profile :)

Response: I'm really glad that you liked it. I was worried that the edges were a little rough and you wanted to use it in your classroom. I was hoping that middle schoolers could understand "sharp" lol ;)

Comment: You have a black hole in your house too. Lost keys in your house. I too have one of those black holes in my house. I lose may things all the time. Then suddenly in appears. Surprise, and it's not lost. Thank you for the ATC.
Response: I think my whole house is a black hole. It is certainly a tumbleweed nexus. One day, there are a ton of tumbleweeds. The next, they're all gone! In fact, that's what we've named this house: "the Tumbleweed nexus." :)

Comment: Thank you so much for an absolutely stunning pendant! I often wear entirely too much black, and now I have the perfect little pop of color to offset it all. :) Thank you thank you thank you again!
Response: You're quite welcome. It's funny you should say that, because working in fused glass helped me to appreciate colors and overcome my "black phase." (For years, my wardrobe consisted entirely of jeans and black shirts in different styles)

Are you going to assign partners for the swap you are hosting???

slewis234 on Nov 1, 2009:

hello, is anyone in there? you've not responded to my pm's emails etc. and i certainly would be grateful if you would. thanks.

slewis234 on Oct 28, 2009:

gosh, do you just ignore people on purpose? what did i do to you to warrant this kind of treatment? first i let you know numerous times what was going on and why i was late with the swap, then you say it's ok and turn around and leave me a 1 rating anyway even after the swap was mailed. i know you've gotten it by now, yet you still have not changed the 1 to a proper rating and you fail to answer any of my emails, pm's etc. i'm just not sure what i'm supposed to think. it's quite unfair of you to act this way and i'm seriously wondering what is up. i've contacted admin about it as well, since you won't respond.

slewis234 on Oct 25, 2009:

Hi, I'm still waiting for you to change the rating you left before my package arrived. I'm hoping it will happen soon since I had all 5's before that. Our prior communications were pretty clear on what was going on. Thanks,

Welcome to the 1000 Blank White Cards swap! Glad to see there are other people who like this game!

CalizonaDesigns on Sep 27, 2009:

I can't complain with glitter- I love it! :)

slewis234 on Aug 16, 2009:

hi there, i am sorry you had such a bad experience with the trip to the er this weekend. i have experienced the same several times until they figured out what was causing it. one thought, if you have it happen again and you don't have an epi pen, lay down on your side on the floor. it for some reason helps the breathing even if you can't breathe at all. like is what happens to me. when i had to call 911 one time, the op had me do that and it actually helped until the ambu could get there to cart me off! it's not a laughing matter i know, so i'm glad you're ok. i have you for a partner on a swap and i'll be making your something fun based on your profile!

Oh my goshhhhhhh! I just rec'd the "little" swap of the Edible Tag game.

http://www.swap-bot.com/forums/topic/3520/20

You are MUCH tooooo generous!

I cannot believe ALL the goodies you sent - You must be a mind-reader, too, because I've been dying for sugar-free salt water taffy, for many a month - The stores here don't carry it, anymore.

Do you make that fudge? I'll buy some from you!

I cannot believe All the stuff you sent - Zevia soda, no less!! I've heard of it, never tried it. Thank you for it.

This is too long a post, I think - But - Just wanted you to know how absolutely much I treasure and appreciate the box you sent.

You are too kind.

Wonderful, you are!

You seriously have restored my faith in swappers.

Thank you Thank you Thank you for the most amazing, wonderful, delicious prize, you sent for the edible tag game.

I totally love it all.

Thank you. Thank you. Thannnkk you.
