About Me

I live in country Victoria, Australia, on 150 acres with my partner, Chris. Chris has two early teenage kids, together we just have lots of animals.

I am in my early 30s and find there is just not enough time to try and do all the things I want to.

Favorite Crafts

  • Sewing - pretty girly things mostly (just a novice).
  • Knitting - mostly beanies so far (beginner!).
  • Woodwork - I like restoring old furniture and boxes and stuff (again a beginner).
  • Other - I have played around with a welder, dabbled with jewellery making, made a little soap, crochet, tanning skins.
  • I would like to learn how to spin, one day!!!

Gardening

I like pretty cottage gardens, my current garden is just getting going and is a dreadful mess!

Animals

I love animals. We have cattle, sheep, goats - angora and dairy, a pig, a llama, geese, chooks, ducks, horses, a little dog (big dogs don't respect me and I kinda don't understand them), 2 cats and LOTS of bunnies! I am currently in the process of fencing paddocks for my horses, repairing the chook shed, making a rabbit yard, etc - I have LOTS of work to do and that is when I am not at real work!!!!

Sports / Hobbies

I also like: Horse riding (just hacking), Skiing (very new to the sport and if i don't fall over at least a dozen times a day it is a miracle! but it is sooooo much fun), Dancing (Rock 'n Roll).....

Favorite Books

Craft books, Animal books, Country House & Garden Magazines, Australian Stories, Horse Stories

Other things I like

  • Pink (but I do like most colours - I am decorating my kitchen in pinks and greens and my bedrooms in purples at the moment!)
  • handmade stuff
  • shabby chic
  • cupcakes
  • girly stuff
  • anything glittery
  • hair stuff inc pretty hair clips
  • plans or instructions on how to make or build things that are related to my animals
  • books or information about my animals - especially rabbits goats and horse riding
  • garden pictures, house pictures (especially from english or american country magazines) - shabbyt chic type
  • coins from interesting places
  • patterns for sewing or knitting, anything that relates to old time crafts or farm activities
  • I don't really care if things are old or new (even if they are a bit dog eared)
  • egypt
  • anything bridge related (I am a project manager - I studied civil engineering many moons ago - in my spare time!!! - actually that is the real job)

Things I don't really care for

Not really into scrap booking these days - I like it, but I cannot sit still long enough to even get started at the moment!!!, can't think of much else I don't care for at the moment!!! Oh, I cannot stand Big Brother or other silly reality shows.... Sorry to those who enjoy these shows.

Stamps

To all my swap partners: I have been trying to convince my friendly post office to put real stamps on my parcels. If you would be able to ask you postie to do the same I would be very greatful as I am a long time stamp collector and love stamps from other countries!

Comment: such cute reindeer Michelle, I love them, did you burn the paper edges yourself? In answer to you question I would probably use double sided tape, I use it for nearly everything :). Thanks so much, and I noticed the envie as well :)
Response: Yes, I burnt the paper edges (have to use up some matches from that advent calender swap!!!). The only problem with burning is that you have to do a LOT of puffing so that it does not burn too much! Thankyou for the advice on the tape, I didn't think of that! I love your envelopes, but I always worry when things look too pretty on the outside whether they make it!!!! (Silly worry wort arn't I!!) :)

Response: I'm happy that you like them because I had lots of fun making them, and especially the vase one! The flower stems are bits of mig welder wire!!!

Comment: Fabulous absolutely fabulous I love it, it did get a tad squashed in the post but nothing that cant be fixed. I have you the heart because you can see you put your heart into making it for me using my fav colours in a couple of the drawers too.... not that I peeked lol,,, ok maybe just a little peek. thanks Michelle, its great :)

Response: I am so glad that you liked the colours, I was a bit worried I would get it too dark or too light, so I tried to cover all bases!!!! I love playing around with stitch patterns, but I am running out of the easier ones in my book because I try to do each square different. Some of the patterns are just waaaay too difficult to tackle yet! :)

Comment: Loved the squares Michelle, beautifully made, used to belong to the Aussie groups but for health reasons had to cut down on all the groups I was in, hope to see you around the swaps Nan ps I reckon worsted is between an double knit and 10ply, I usually just use double knit
Response: I'm glad you liked the squares and thankyou for the heart! I think you must be right on the wool, because all mine is either a little bit thinner or a little bit fatter than the squares I have recieved! I guess that is part of the surprise in making an internation afghan! :)
