I work in an engineering dept. but on my free time I like to work on more creative endeavors- jewelry, chainmaille, paper crafts, painting, etc.....
I'm from/currently living in Upstate/Central NYS.
I live with my boyfriend and his family. He is a cook at heart, so we are always trying new things. I also love to bake and make lots of sweet things to stuff people with. He's made me come to like a lot of things that I never used to eat, but there are a few that I still can't stand (much to my bf's chagrin: hot dogs, mushrooms, olives, eggplant, kale/ cooked greens, & most sea-food - and sushi).
I have a very large family, so I enjoy having lots of friends and relatives over to entertain.
Mostly Rock, but I grew up with country. I also enjoy listening to Jazz, Blues, Classical, and old folk rock when I'm working on something. I think I have almost all styles covered in my iTunes library. My favorite band these days is Enter the Haggis. I try to go see them live anytime they are even remotely close to me :).
Predominantly jewelry, especially chainmaille - I'm working towards developing a side business in this.
I also do beaded jewelry and basic wirework. I wish I could do wraps, but I just haven't had the inkling to attempt it.
I also enjoy crafts involving paper - origami, stamping, scrapbooking, & photo pages. I dabble a little in taking photos, but I'm just a novice at best.
I like woodwork - I have a 4 year degree in interior design, and I was always most interested in furniture, but I love actually BUILDING it myself. I guess it comes from having so many carpenters in the family.
I do a little painting -pictures, home decor/accents, and spaces when I get the chance. (see above- I love doing makeovers).
My mom once tried teaching me crochet, but it didn't stick. Never attempted knitting. I can't sew more than basic mending.
I can work my way around photoshop, but mostly for basic photo re-touching.
Old classics, musicals, dramas, rom/com, sci-fi, as far as actual movie titles, all time fave is Empire Records, others that get top billing are the LOTR series, The Matrix.
Colors: Jewel Toned, Teal, Burgundy. I wear mostly black, white, grey, teal/greeny-blue, some pink. I dont wear or like yellow or orange for clothes. My favorite print is houndstooth.
I collect/love amber jewelry (on silver - I dont wear gold),
Anything with stars, crows,...tbc
Art influences: Indian, "Gypsy", Japanese (classic, not anime/modern), Art Nouveau, French-influenced, Victorian, Medieval(sp?)/Renaissance.
Fancy writing implements (calligraphy pens, quills, etc. - My favorite writers are actually pigment liners and Pentel RSVP fine point, oh, and Papermates Flair pen/markers :) )
Anything Coffee/Tea related - I love coffee and choc. coffee beans, and drink tea often, too. Teapots, pretty mugs, the whole shebang. Any flavors really, no lemon or mint please - vanilla or spiced flavors are best.
My favorite candies are York patties, Lindt truffles, Smarties, fruit slice gummies, PEEPS and Red Vines. During the fall I usually 0-d on Candy Corn & candy pumpkins . :)
I like spearmint flavors in mints, but please don't send me gum - I can't chew it :(.
I like every season but winter. I hate snow & cold. Though I do love Christmas, and giving gifts.
Chapstick/Lip Smackers/Lip balm - I'm addicted! My favorites are vanilla-y or coconut and sweet flavors.
I got into liking skulls / skull & cross bones themes, and the like (not sure how it happened, but I find it interesting. Maybe its my own "memento mori".)
First, to explain the difference between this and the section above- "things I like" is just general info. "things I'd like to have" is for any swaps that might require this type of information...I guess? haha...I'm new to swap-bot and still learning what sort of things a profile should have, so I'm sure i'll be editing it often
Anyhoos, things I'd like to have:
Pen pals! I love writing correspondance and being able to use the nice stationary and things that I have. I truly do heart mail! :)
On that note...Writing & paper implements - pens, notecards, stationary, etc.
Stamps and paper punches
Chainmail supplies, especially: clasps, wire, & rings/ jump rings.
That seems pretty simple and not too over-reaching, no? I dont want to be greedy before I know how much I'm able to reciprocate. I like to share :)
