Favorite Music

No favorite music. I like everything but not really into hip hop or over-produced country. Intrigued by dance music from India, don't know what you call it . . . clever lyrics tickle me. Odd or catchy tunes welcome. Great singers, intricate rhythms. Some fave CDs . . . Bombay Boogie Nights, Alice Cooper: Killer, Ladies Sing the Blues, Nortec Collective: Tijuana Sessions 3 . . .

Favorite colors

Fuchsia, red, turquoise, black, emerald green, blues, slate, buttery yellow

Favorite Crafts

I am currently obsessed with knitting, especially socks. I use natural fibers unless someone I am knitting for specifically requests something else. Currently on the needles: Isis Stole, summer socks of my own design, Bubbly curtain in tangerine linen, red cashmere sockies for number one son . . .

Favorite Movies

Thrillers, indies, documentaries, almost ,anything with Johnny Depp, though I couldn't stand The Dead. Pretentious Films make me gag. Test question: Was The Piano a comedy? Last great movie I saw: Knocked Up. Favorite TV show: Big Bang Theory

I don't love cute things.

I don't love cute things. I don't have a cat or a dog or a bird or a ferret. I don't have knickknacks, doodads or other detritus around my house. I do love beautiful, unusual and simple things that have a function. You can never have too many candles.

Favorite Things

Knitting needles, natural fiber sock yarn, painty pens, nice paper, dark chocolate, chiles, unusual magazines for collage, pin cushions, tape measures (vintage knitting or sewing tools), beads, spices, rices . . . whatever smacks of The Place where you live . . . peacocks, spiders, owls, snakes, bats.

Favorite Gifts to Give

Organic dark chocolate with chiles or herbs, CD mixes, custom blend oils, collage art, beeswax candles, massage bars from LUSH, handknit socks, handmade bags, chocolate bomb cake, bath salts.

Last Good Book I Read

The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coehlo Home School by Charles Webb. A twisted, hilarious sequel to The Graduate. Iron Lake, Boundary Waters - both in a series set in the Boundary Waters, by William Kent Kreuger. Why Do They Act That Way, a great book about adolescents by David Walsh.

Response: I'm so glad you liked it. You are welcome. I got an education in 60s pop culture making that CD, and it was truly tough to choose songs. Did I tell you my dad had a stock car named "Green Onions" after that song?

Comment: Eww! Yes! You got it right. This IS ugly YARN! It looks like the stuff I sent away in my FIRST Ugly yarn swap. I think if we do these long enough, some of us will probably get their old yarn back! Thanks for the package. I've just NEVER known what to do with ribbon-like yarn.

Response: There is a story behind that book . . . it came with a mate that I am reading now. Look for a message with the story. The bath bomb crumbles into your bath and leaves quite a fairy ring!

I am trying to become plastic bagless as well. Have you heard of morsbags?I made one and it was great! Do you want to have the next swap between us be for a bag? Not necessarily sewn, but whatever your medium of choice?

Yes, I do. I'm thinking of making some new ones. I want to be plastic bagless. I've actually been working on knitting plastic bags into a tote for way too long. It is tedious and sticky. but yes.
