About Me

8/2017 Life has been really busy lately so I am taking a swap-bot break. If you need to contact me feel free to send me a e-mail. I will still check in here occasionally.

My motto for 2017 is 'Life is uncertain, so make art'.
I am mom to 2 amazing 'boys' and wife of 35 years to a gentle man. I am thankful each day to wake up surrounded by water, trees and mountains, we live in such a beautiful country. I like to travel, esp if there is a ocean at the end of the road. Traveling with a old RV gives you time to really look where you are going even if you are just passing through. The ocean always feels like coming home to me, it makes my heart happy. When home I fill my time with volunteering at a local food bank (humans are so resilient), and at a creative Re-Use store. I quilt, craft, play in the dirt, walk and take pictures, and waste too much time on the internet. I often have glue on my fingers, paint on my clothes and piles of projects on every flat surface.

Things I love in no particular order:
- good books
- mermaids
- cats
- ice in everything I drink
- digging my toes in the sand
- washi tape
- good quality watercolor pencils
- weird and unusual stamps (rubber and postage, handmade or not, art stamps)
- cemeteries
- oddities and weird stuff ( I am not easily offended)
- trees and leaves
- making new friends and spoiling my old ones
- day of the dead
- street art
- sea life (whales, octopi, sea horses, sea star, crabs, mythological sea creatures)
- quotes and favorite poems or jokes
- laughing, most often at myself
- hand drawn ATC's
- geocaching
- Art-O-Mats
- good chocolate
- altered most anything
- handmade 'art' dolls
- thai food
- positive thinking
- listening to the trees talking
- non-traditional religious icons
- zines and mail art
- I would love some return address labels

Need something to write about?
- share a new recipe (from scratch)
- tell me your secrets
- tell me about your day
- 10 things you love/ hate
- what do you want to learn
- draw me a picture (anything made by you I will love)
- a favorite childhood memory
- what's your favorite book and why
- make up a story

No thank you: I really didn't want to add this section because I don't want to stifle any ones generous feelings but I also don't want things to go to waste. Please don't send glitter or punched out shapes. No thank you to children's stickers, reward stickers, sticker slapping or Hello Kitty like stickers. I really don't need scraps of paper unless they are special in some way. I am sensitive to scents, and really don't want food products unless called for in a swap. "Extra's" are fun but not needed, I will rate you on the swap itself. Please nothing religious (I respect your religious choices but have my own beliefs), political, child abusive or just plain hateful. (Sarcasm and off-color I adore) I will always love your original art, and treasure every personal note.

Regarding postage: For a letter or a PC I make an educated guess, use pretty stamps, and drop it in the local PO's box. Every package I take personally to my local PO, a few blocks away, and mail from the automated machine or with help from the PO employees. I love stamps and will use them when possible but I also love my local post office workers so when they are busy (usually) I will not make them take the extra time to find the right stamps. I do not want them to hide when they see me coming. If something does not arrive to you PLEASE contact me and I know we can work it out. Thanks for understanding and thanks for reading.

Comment: This was such a fun swap, the cards are awesome to play with! You got really creative with your alien world!

Comment: ha ha ha he he he hahahahah... that was too cute! I like the stickers that matched the joke. Maybe our houses will be near other on the coast. ;) It's a great postcard and the drawing you did is lovely.

Comment: Thank you for the beautifully illustrated PC. Orange makes such a brief appearance in the garden--some late spring tulips, and then the poppies (which always seem to peak just in time to be pummeled by a storm). Enjoy your journeys!
Response: Orange poppies are so glorious! Enjoy this time of year.
Tigerlilyknotwise rated for Masterboard for One on May 23, 2017
Comment: Thank you for these great masterboards! I am loving the bright spring colors! Sadly the mailman bent them in half, but he didn't crease them, so I think I can flatten them out again :)
Response: Oh I should have written Do Not Bend on the envie. ...I am glad you liked them and hope you find a use for the pages

Comment: Love the octopi holding the dog!! Great postcard, Jeanette! Thanks!! xoxo
Response: I loved that one too. Glad it made it to you <3
Comment: Holy cow, what an experience opening this was. I got the mail, saw a package locker key, got excited the book I ordered must be here, found a box from you, with a fridge in, and a ghost! I mean, you know what you sent but for the benefit of anyone perusing your ratings this was definitely the most surreal bit of mail I have ever had the joy of opening. Thank you!
Response: Thank you! I was so happy you were my partner for this...it let me get a little out there <3
Comment: What a cool idea! Love it! Thanks so much!
Response: This was fun, thank you for joining my swap!
Comment: Thanks for the nifty card! I love seeing what others create.
Response: Me too, inspiration is everywhere. Thank you!

Comment: Jury duty, packing and sorting- is there anything you *don't* enjoy?! Thank you for the finished copy of the a&p zine! Every page of it cracks me up. I sent you a picture on instagram of the state of your envelope when it arrived, fyi... methinks that sheet music has seen better days in terms of structural integrity.
Response: I am not particularly fond of mushrooms, or stuff getting lost in the mail! Oh I agree...the ' seen better days' and bird theme are what drew me to it, but me thinks it will be better served as a inner envelope or as part of a collage now. Glad it all made it to you any ways =o)
Comment: OMG! You are SO right! I had no idea I needed animal patches! But now that I have them, I have no idea how I've lived without them all this time. THANK YOU. I didn't know I needed that!
Response: You are awesome! Thank you so much for the kind rating. I look forward to hearing what becomes of the patches. ;)

Comment: Your awesome bat card came through the post perfectly... I am just starting to look at my cards to see which would suit. Went on a beautiful cave tour in Northern Ireland long time ago, sheesh, 21 years ago! That's the only time... no maybe something in high school? Ah well, not really my thing!
Response: I like caves as long as they are big and have cool things to look at, and of course well lit LOL I think those guys that crawl through dark tight ones are crazy!

Comment: Loved your "Life on Mars" and happy to see someone else's results. Thanks also for the extra zine. I've been on the receiving end as two of my daughters are gardeners. I'm not. Always enjoy getting an extra zine.
Response: Wow I have tried to leave a comment here twice, hope the 3rd time's a charm. I too loved Life on Mars. Hope I could help you with those extra squash LOL

Comment: Love the zine! It always makes me happy to see people combining pasting with hand drawn stuff. And I do adore the apron. What a fun find!
Response: Collab zine making is always such fun =o) Glad you could use the apron...I have never visited Loon Lake but now it's on my list.

Comment: Europe! How fun! I will have to live vicariously through you, I would absolutely love to see the catacombs in Paris. When you go, please look at it extra hard and report back all about it. (:
Response: A catacomb tour was the first thing I booked! I will take notes =o)

Comment: Thanks for the PC! My brother in law did the DNA test and it was so interesting to see his results. Did you know full siblings can have different results? I didn't think that was possible, but I looked it up and it turns out the results can be very different. My husband wants to do one now. Maybe for Christmas....
Response: I was just going to have one kid do the test...cuz of course they are the same till I also read that they can be very different. I am so interested to see the differences. Many of the test companies ate running specials right now. Maybe you should do yourself too? =o)

Comment: Hello Jeanette :-) . . . I am sorta scared and intimidated by watercolors too. I haven't even begun to think about doing mine yet; yours is so early! I was so excited to receive your huge envelope with the BIG carp on it. That's the largest piece of mail I've ever gotten. And inside, WOW! What a lovely painting Jeanette! You have done an excellent poppy painting and I love it. Thank you for a wonderful swap :-)
Response: I have to admit I did the painting before I signed up for the swap. I do that often if a swap sounds scary to me so I can be sure I can do it before being assigned. I really love poppies so that picture came from my heart. Thank you for the kind words. My PO people were thrilled with that carp too, even when I admitted I didn't draw it =o)

Response: Thank you Stephanie
Comment: Hi Jeanette. This WAS an extra-special package, starting from from the envelope, the photos, the artistamps and everything in it. Always a joy to swap with you. And you've set the bar high by your contribution to the zine. Great job!
Response: Always a pleasure to connect with you David =o)

So happy that you got a kick out of my "letter". Please, let's do another swap like that, even if it is a private one. I have to say, I really enjoyed just goofing on the idea of making stuff up! Like I may have mentioned, Bill Bryson really influenced the entire thing! xxoo

bbsporty on May 24, 2017:

Thank you for your May randomail of handmade stickers and for the pretty thank you atc.

bigmamabird on May 22, 2017:

Your fun MPU randomail envelope arrived right at the busiest time this week, but you know I opened it right away, in the car, while getting all sorts of errands done! That funky happy sun stamp you put on the envelope made me LOL...All the goodies inside are so fun, i love the decorated stickers best... Thanks Jeanette!

oblivionspin on May 22, 2017:

Thank you both for the random and the thank you atc (: The stickers are the perfect size for holding envelopes shut which is always useful (they're also so summery looking! love them) and you know tiny spider stamp has a home in my desk with my other weird tiny stamps (a battleship, another spider and a weiner, the day to day basics, really)
I hope you are well!

joybells2426 on May 22, 2017:

Thanks for the great randomail! I love handmade stickers so much, but I'm too lazy to make them for myself! I love getting them from people. The coaster is pretty cool too. Is it German?

midwestkiwi on May 8, 2017:

Wow! Today was a great mail day. I like so much getting mail from you. It is always so fun, even before I open it!
