I'm the mother of five grown children, with two still living at home; and the grandmother of four. We are a close family and enjoy movies, TV, museums, family game nights, and just hanging out together.
I work in an office with a long commute. I love my job (international logistics) but it can be stressful. Crafting and creating helps me stay sane!
6-4-2019 I'll be cutting waaaay back on my Swap-bot activities for a while... Summer is my busy season at work and this year I am also expecting out-of-town company (my daughter and her family - yay!). I'll be checking in but not swapping much until Fall.
12-15-2018 My dad is doing much better! I'm still stopping by his place every day to do some things for him but I am back to staying at my own house. Thankfully, things are getting back to normal.
11-15-2018 PLEASE NOTE - My dad is in the hospital and I am staying with him and taking care of my mom. I don't expect to be late with any outgoing swaps but I may get a little behind on rating. I will get caught up as soon as I can. Thank you for understanding.
6-9-2018 It's that time of year again... Summer is the busiest season in my business and I usually end up working a lot of hours. Time for me to cut back on my swaps for a bit.
12-29-2017 I'm back from vacation and things are starting to get back to normal. It was pretty hectic there for a while... If I haven't rated you for something please check with me. I've been trying hard to stay on top of the incoming mail but something may have slipped through the cracks. I hope everyone had a happy holiday!
12-21-2017 I'll be on vacation until the 28th (I'm so excited to be visiting my daughter and her family in Virginia!) I'm caught up on my outgoing swaps but for anything coming in I won't be able to rate until the end of next week. Happy Holidays everyone!
My main interest at Swap-bot is postcards. I enjoy making and receiving handmade postcards, but I've come to enjoy the store-bought postcards nearly as much. I'm not really a collector... I just enjoy seeing pretty / arty / uplifting cards in my mailbox! I have a slight preference for receiving them naked and written on unless it's a swap for adding to my stash.
Zazzle cards (or the like) are fine with me. I've found the quality to be good on the ones I've seen, I don't really understand why some people don't like them.
In addition to swapping postcards I've also particpated in some simple flat envelope swaps. I think it's fun to share stickers, extra notecards, and washi samples. I can sometimes use other kinds of paper ephemera also. I'm not really picky about what I receive, if I can't use it I will usually just pass it on in the next swap.
I'm just starting to get into some tea swaps. I've been trying to cut down on my coffee drinking and so I'm drinking more tea. My favorite tea is chai but I'd love to try all kinds!
I especially love decorating the envelopes that I send stuff in and I really enjoy getting decorated envelopes in my mail box. Mail Art is the best!
I like paper crafts mostly. Acrylic paints, brush pens and gel pens and markers (oh my!), collage, even watercolors. I have a couple of art journals that I play around in. I really enjoy making postcards and greeting cards to send to my family and friends. I try to recycle or upcycle whenever I can.
I love pretty / beautiful things - flowers and gardens of all kinds; fun patterns and prints; sunrises and sunsets; rainbows; the moon, stars, and the night sky; natural scenic wonders.
My favorite color is aqua blue or turquoise. I also like pink and red.
I like animals... especially cats and birds... especially owls! Other favorite animals are woodland creatures (foxes, deer, rabbits, etc.) songbirds (chickadees, cardinals, wrens), frogs, lizards, and garden insects.
Some other things I enjoy: Baseball (big Astros fan here!); Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang or other sweet-natured comics; Chococat and Keroppi (Sanrio); Spring and Fall; Christmas; Ancient / Classical Greece; Wine, Margaritas, Craft Beers; Mexican Food; Street Art; Coffee and quaint coffee shops; Books, especially sci-fi and fantasy, Monty Python, MST3K, geocaching.
Books / authors - JRR Tolkien; Mary Renault; Rosemary Sutcliff; Steven Brust; Dave Duncan; Ann Leckie; Dave Hutchinson (my tastes run to sci-fi / fantasy)
Movies / TV - Star Wars; Star Trek; Back to the Future; Ghostbusters; White Christmas; Indiana Jones; Guardians of the Galaxy; My Neighbor Totoro; Fantastic Mr. Fox; Princess Bride; The Birdcage; The Good Place; The Big Bang Theory; Brooklyn Nine Nine; (I seem to prefer action / adventure / funny / nerdy stuff!)
Music - Radiohead; Muse; Metric; The Dear Hunter; Panic at the Disco; Mother Mother; Amanda Palmer; Beach House; AFI; Keane; The Killers (mostly Alternative)
