Art soothes my soul and refreshes my mind.
As of end of September, 2012, I think I am taking a break from swap-bot until??? My commitments to student teacher, college classes, and homework barely leave me time to do laundry and grocery shopping. May seems so far off, but I know it will come quicker than expected.
Depending on the day, I'm an artist first, teacher second or teacher first, artist second. After 22 years of teaching elementary school, I am back to being a college student and will be student teaching yet again Fall 2012/Spring 2013. This time I'm going for my Educational Specialist credentials and plan on teaching special education until the day I retire. How I wish art was still a big part of the school system. Don't get me started!
Hmmm, think my art experiences go back to playing in the mud at our cabin to making candles with my mom out in the garage on rainy days to painting on the easel in kindergarten (as I recall, I spent a lot of time at the easel) to trying almost any art or craft I could get my hands on. After graduating college and getting my first credential, I took a couple years off to get my Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education. Just for me.
I've been a ceramic artist, doll maker, card maker, jewelry designer..... Right now I am a lampworker (make glass beads using a torch), mixed media artist, and knitter. I'm sure there are other things I will be trying in the future.
glass beads (lampwork)
I Love To (other than making art):
go to Disneyland
walk on the beach
vintage chandelier crystals
seashells from nature and manmade
Blues and Greens of the Ocean
Earth Tones unless as they occur in nature, such as the California poppy or a tree trunk...
