About Me

I am French, 30-something and I live in Paris. I got married last year, we don't have kids... yet but we are very excited about starting a family soon.

Moineau is French for the "House Sparrow" bird. It's an old nickname.

I was born & raised in Britanny, that's the Atlantic NW peninsula of France. I've always lived by the sea, including for 18 months in Seattle, USA.

I love the sea, flowers, birds... In fact, it's my job since I work in environmental law (mainly industrial clients, no crazy eco-lover here).

I love to cook, though I have to admit that my husband is a better cook than me (he is truly amazing). I love chocolate and roasted chicken, I hate vinegar and can't drink a drop of alcohol... which is kind of anti-social in France ;)

I've just started to write a blog, sorry it's just in French so far, I don't have time for a double version: http://bluebits.canalblog.com/

Favorite Crafts

I love sewing and embroidering, though I still need a lot of practice to make things perfect. I am not super patient and I like small projects because I need to see them finished ;)

I mainly sew small house-things such as pouches and bags, and children clothes for my nieces.

I do traditional embroidery (cross-stiching bores me to death), mainly flower patterns or simple things like stars and words.

Favorite Music

Jazz (I am a huge fan of Diana Krall) and songs that have a meaning, from campfire songs to slam and rap ;)

Favorite colors and stuff

  • Blue and green

  • Vintage Liberty fabric, especially those where you can recognize the actual flowers on the print

  • Soy candles

  • Beatrix Potter, beanie babies (dogs and cats), Bollywood glamour

  • Chocolates, especially the praliné-filled one

  • Tchai tea, and other teas we can't find in France: Lipton Vanilla/French vanilla, Twining Voyage Indian Chai

  • Stamps from all over the world

  • Ribbons and embroidery threads

  • TIlda's books (Tone Finnanger, anyone?)

  • Anything related to horse-back-riding, especially "soft" riding and horse-whisperers

  • Anything related to the sea: fish, seashells, whales, tidal waves and Sea Surface Temperature False Color Imaging (seriously)

Dislikes

  • Hello Kitty, kawai, mangas and Japanese cartoon-like characters

  • Rosewater and anything rose-scented (smells like the rotten flower to me)

  • Anna Geddes pictures (sorry, those newborns are not cute, yet)

Favorite TV shows and books

TV Shows: - Desperate Housewives - Ghost Whisperer - Grey's anatomy - Ugly Betty - Kyle XY - Monk - Hercule Poirot

What? How about French ones? Huh let's see: - Une femme d'honneur - Cordier, père et fils - Famille d'accueil

Books/authors - Jane Austen & William Shakespeare - Nicolas Evans & David Guterson - John Grisham & Mary Higgins Clark - Sophie Kinsella & Helen Fielding - Maeve Binchy & Oscar Wilde - Maupassant & Jean Raspail - Marek Halter & Philippe Labro and so many others, I live reading

Needlebook swap

My sewing things are in yellow fabric with red thread. I'd love to get a yellow and red needlebox to matches ;)

Comment: OMG, I love, love, love everything you sent! The chocolate looks so delicious, I am going to save it until I am on my own and then be really selfish and eat it all by myself!!! :D I have had a couple of the varieties of that hot choc once before and I love it, can't wait to have some! Yum! I love the book too! I haven't had time to look at it properly, but it looks really fascinating. I'm looking forward to learning lots of things from it and trying some French chocolate recipes! I love how you wrapped the chocolate in paper with the lavender on and the gift bag with the book in. Thank you for being an amazing swap partner!!!! Going to be smiling for the rest of the week (at least!). xx

Comment: This package deserves five thousand hearts! It was so beautiful and all of the extras were above and beyond anything that you could have done for a swap; it really put a big smile on my face. All of the spreads look so delicious that I am going to have a difficult time deciding which one to try first!
Response: I am so glad it finally arrived! I made the strawberries from the book "Sew pretty homestyle". I bought it this summer and the swap was a great excuse to try the strawberries :)
