About Me

I am a mixed media artist and have been for about 9 years. I enjoy working with all things vintage - actually, I just love all things vintage.

I live in FL with my husband and our dogs, our youngest son joined the Air Force on September 11, 2007, so we are empty nesters, well except for the dogs and our 2 cats.

I'm just now starting to get back into sewing. For years I made the majority of my clothes - my oldest son never owned a pair of pajamas that I hadn't made for him, it's fun, I'm enjoying it.

Favorite Books

I have so many favorite books and am very eclectic in my tastes. Some of my favorite authors are Harlan Coben, Joshilyn Jackson, Philippa Gregory, Ken Follett, Carolly Erickson, Lee Smith, Mary Kay Andrews - so many! I love Historical Fiction, Stephanie Plum, and really good children's literature - like Cornelia Funke's Inkheart and Inkspell. I could go on and on about books, but I'll force myself to stop now!

Favorite Music

I'm pretty eclectic here, too. Sting is my all time favorite! I like Toby Keith, too. Lenny Kravitz, Bonnie Raitt, Shawn Colvin, Norah Jones, Michael Buble, Van Morrison, Concrete Blonde, Ray Charles, again, I could go on and on, but I won't!

Favorite Television

I could watch HGTV all day! I do like some prime time shows, too though. House, Bones, Miami Ink (Okay, maybe that's not prime time, but I like it!), CSI, Numbers, Survivor, Design Star, The Closer, Project Runway, Grey's Anatomy, Eli Stone, and I really really liked New Amsterdam - and the canceled it! What were they thinking???

RAnDOm StUfF. . . . .

I love dogs - I have an American Bulldog named Stella, a Boston Terrier named Gracie Mabel, a claustrophobic lab named Sophie and am keeping my son's dog, Brutus until he comes home from deployment.

I really like vintage buttons, old ribbon, odd metal bits, vintage ledgers, candlesticks, vintage linens, especially tablecloths and pillowcases, oh and pretty hankies.

I love birds and bird nests, bird eggs, and bird houses. Lately I've been altering bird house, purchased ones and ones my husband has made for me. I've begun collecting all things bird related, including pie birds.

I am an avid coffee lover, Boca Java Hazelnut is my current favorite. I also enjoy a cup of tea and have lots of favorites. I like Lifesaver Sweet Mints and keep a jar next to my work table.

My favorite colors are shades of blue, but I also like red, pink and very soft greens.

I enjoy cooking and baking, trying new recipes. Recently I've been on a pie baking kick and have discovered Skillet Pies - pies baked in a cast iron skillet - very fun and different, not to mention yummy! 4x6 recipe cards are always appreciated.

I love to garden, but I don't have a green thumb and Florida isn't always a forgiving landscape, but I keep at it. Every once in a while I get something so right, I know my thumb's turning green!

I'm a big list maker, so I have scraps of paper and little journals everywhere! If it's not on a list, it doesn't usually get done. I'm always looking for cute note pads and note cards, sticky notes - pretty writing papers.

I also like to organize, and I like to make everyday things as pretty as I can.

APrON SwApS

I like both half and full aprons. If sending me a half apron, I prefer a nice long one, one that's functional, instead of the cute little flirty half aprons. I'm not real big on lots of ruffles, though a small ruffle around the hem is nice. A pocket is always a nice touch, too. A medium is a good size for me, but if you'd like exact measurements, please let me know.

Please NO Snow People!

Fabric Lines I Love

Sandi Henderson Michael Miller Denyse Schmidt Tina Givens Robyn Pandolph Erin McMorris Dena Fishbein Valorie Wells

I love the old vintage cottons, the heavy ones with floral prints. I also like fabrics with birds or retro kitchen prints.

I'm not fabric fussy, if you have a stash you're trying to use in swaps, please don't go out and buy something specific for me. I love soft colors, bright colors, a shabby chic look, retro styles, I'm sure you have something I'll love!

Comment: I LOVED the pincushion you made and the trims you sent were extra FABULOUS. Where did you find them?
Response: I'm so pleased you liked the pincushion and the trims. I've been collecting vintage trims for years, local thrift, antique, and junque shops - I'm not sure where those came from. Could even be eBay! Enjoy them!
