I'm the monitoring department head for a pretty large webhost in central michigan. I work a lot, and haven't been as crafty recently as I used to be. I miss it, and am hoping that signing up for swaps will be the push I need to get back into it.
I'm an earthtones, and blue jeans kinda girl. I don't have much brightly colored clothing, or bedding (though I do own one orange shirt). The art on my walls (what little there is) is either hand drawn by a friend of mine, or stitched by other friends. I like computers, and books, and camping, and music. Love. Music.
I love traveling, and don't get to do as much of it as I'd like. Most of what I've covered has been in the continental US. I've been to Canada once, for a week. I've got dreams of Europe and Mexico in the next few years.
I try to grow herbs from time to time, but I'm normally foiled by myself. I live in an apartment in the downtown of a capital city, and love it.
It changes all the time. Pretty much if it's good, I like it. I've gone through all kinds of phases, but these days it's a huge mix of all kinds of stuff.
currently? The Foo Fighters, Muse, Jeff Buckley, PowerMan 5000, Nickel Creek, Jason Mraz, Fiona Apple, 3, Linkin Park, Porcupine Tree, Korn, Meshuggah, Dream theatre, Tonic, Massive Attack, Mixes by DJ Chris Rohn, Diana Krall, 16 Volt.
It goes on and on. Check out my last.fm profile (link at the top of the page) for more.
For fiction: I like fantasy, mostly, but anything with a solid story can make my list. I like mythology a lot, too.
For non-fiction: I like humorous (a la John Stewart) and historical (specifically european history) and psychological/philosophical discussion books (I am kind of in love with Joseph Campbell).
Favorites from the bookshelf right next to me:
Jennifer Government, by Max Barry; Cunt, by inga muscio; Bloodsucking Fiends, by Christopher Moore; The Outlander (series, really), by Diana Gabaldon; Naked Pictures of Famous People, by John Stewart; The hero with a thousand faces, Joseph Campbell; The elements of moral philosophy, by James Rachels; Flowers in the Attic, by V.C. Andrews; Black Like Me, by John Howard Griffin; Strangers, by Dean Koontz; Bright Shadow, by Avi; Goblin Quest, Jim Hines; The Red Tent, by Anita Diamant.
Just to name a few. :)
